This song from Mandy is a real dandy. Thanks to Jason and Don for stirring the pot again.

not sure who wrote it, like i said, she played and sang as Patsy Cline in the stage show Always Patsy Cline for years before she recorded her debut album

Oh I like her voice. Got just a light touch of huskyness to it. Reminiscent of KT Oslin. That's a good thing.

Can't believe it took you this long to get to Mandy Barnett! 😊. She was on Larry's Country Diner and Country's Family Reunion around the same time as as Teea Goins and Mo Pitney. She has a beautiful voice.

Oh thank you Jason for this wonderful request, it's one of my faves. Mandy is a great talent, and I really love her voice. And I agree completely with Jeff on this one - reminds of Rosanne (which is a real compliment) and this song is 9.1. Thanks for the great reaction Don!

Thanks Jason for this request for an artist I almost totally forgotten about. Mandy is from Crossville Tennessee. She used to work as a singer at Dollywood. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on her birthday (Sept. 28th) in 2021. This song was written by Tony Perez and Kostas (both men). Mandy recorded this in 1996 and was her first single which peaked at no. 43. At times she reminds me of some Rosanne Cassh stuff.. Thanks for the reaction Don and how do you forget Barry Manilow 🙂My rating 9.1

@jcat__ I was in the right zip code, so that counts for something. Then again there's the possibility that it doesn't. Ha!

Some time down the road, I’d like to hear your reaction to “Hard Livin” by Keith Whitley. Thanks.

Yahoo! Mandy Barnett at long last. She played Patsy Cline on stage in 1994 at just 18 years of age. Singing 22 of Patsy's songs in the play "Always Patsy Cline". Mandy won the addition over more then 400 other applicants. Incidentally, she was made an official member of the Grand Old Opry about 3 years ago. Here is a link to her song "The Whispering Wind" from her second album in 1998. I couldn't find the music video on RUclips. ruclips.net/video/XRraGZhEDIY/видео.html

Agreed..... Mandy's recording "The Whispering Wind" highlights the Patsy Cline influence very well. I remember there was some "buzz" about her early in her career, but it didn't translate to the radio. She does well with Patsy Cline. Kelly Willis is another good one, and she had trouble getting on the radio, too. Seems to be a pattern......

@@dennisking7872 Many of my favorites got seriously shortchanged by cold hearted Country Radio. Lari White should have been a Mega-Star. Nobody had any better voice or was more beautiful. Great song writer and amazing live too. She was well on her way when the "Wild At Heart" video controversy hit in the Summer of '96 and then was inexplicably dropped by RCA from the label. Leaving Lari's brilliant new album "Don't Fence Me In" to fall by the wayside. Should have never happened. After she signed with Lyric Street about 13-14 months later, I expected her to be treated so much better. Hardly, they were to busy pumping up "She Daisy". Kelly Willis was very poorly marketed. Her 3rd album which should have been huge, was filled with Monster songs. Yet the stupid record label put out a couple of remakes, then dropped her. Holly Dunn being Blacklisted by the end of 1991 was so totally unfair. Her 1992 album "Getting It Dunn" should have been her biggest to date. It was almost totally ignored by radio and very poorly promoted too. This as she was on her first headliner tour too. Do you remember Ronna Reeves? I saw her in concert a couple of times.

@@dennisking7872 Shelby Lynne and her younger Sister Allison Moorer are two others that I never understood the lack of interest in by Country Radio. Both immensely talented. I've suggested Allison "A Soft Place To Fall" here many times over. Honestly one of the best songs of the late 90's.

@@jeffreyk5734 Not only wasn't it about "mesmerizing beauty" but about "sensuality" but also I fail to see that supposed mesmerizing beauty there..not in visuals and not in vocals. Sorry dude, neither appeals to me. Tastes differ🙂

@@reddragonready WHAT??? So your bashing my Gal's memory because you didn't find the video Sexy enough for your own personal taste? With respect, that's pretty low of you. I'm just trying to get this vastly overlooked song and video more views. It's a beautifully shot video and a great duet, that should be allot better known then it is. You never said a thing about the song or the vocals. And Lari plays the piano here too. She was a classically trained pianist. The guy is a pretty damn good singer for an ex-football player. Way to few people know about this song, and you give them no encouragement to seek it out with your negative comments. I have been trying to get Don to react to it for months, not just him, but anybody.

@@jeffreyk5734 First of all..I feel your "pain"! I have been trying to get my favorite reaction channels to react to Cecilia Bartoli for months...to no avail. The frustration is REAL, I know but...No, I am not "bashing" anybody here. I simply stated it was not my taste. There is no "higher"or "lower" taste in sexual attraction..just different tastes. This indeed was not a sexy video to me...very basic standard stuff and two people whose looks simply don't do it for me. And be real dude..neither is any better than very average vocally. That is just a fact. You can find their timbre appealing..which, like looks, is a highly individual matter but vocal technically speaking.. average
PS LOL Who judges a singer's quality on their other or previous activities? Who cares they used to play football..or piano for that matter

Lo, Joy Lynn White yesterday and Mandy Barnett today! Just wonderful. Mandy is a phenomenal singer and actually got better looking later on as she is a little heftier here. That song is OK, but really doesn't give you even a clue as to this gals phenomenal voice. Her vocal range is hard to match. This is from 1996 and her debut album. She was just 20 years old. Ron should react to The Whispering Wind" which had a video, but I can't find it on RUclips. Now we need some Kelly Willis on this channel please. Start with this one. ruclips.net/video/N29EflgBF_s/видео.html
