It is regrettable what happened in the Dom Rep. (MY COUNTRY) more than 450 mm of rain in less than 24 hours, the deaths are constantly increasing, many missing, our population was not prepared for an event of such magnitude, 2 consecutive years passing the same situation in the same month, thanks for the information and coverage, my country is in mourning, pray for the Dominican Republic

Good morning, Brian. Still reeling here in Santo Domingo DR...it stopped raining many hours ago, sun is out but water still flowing on street gutters. This was a shocking, traumatizing event that felt like a cat 2-3 hurricane in this part of the DR minus the wind damage.

Here in Cape Breton we had what the local meteorologists are calling a weather bomb last night. I can't seem to find official totals but it was a violent storm which lasted about 6hrs. But THANKFULLY nothing like my friends down south got. I'm praying for everyone affected.

Thank you very much for the forecast Brian. Here on Grand Turk 🇹🇨 last night at 2 a.m. it started with powerful thunderstorms and lightning. We have been really in the middle; no breaks between a lightning and thunder. Gusting up to 32 kn out of the W. This lasted till 5a.m. The low lying areas here are flooded but nothing like in the D. R. Now gray sky, light westerly winds, agitated sea with north swell. Thanks Brian for saving as many lifes as possible🙏.

that is a huge front of weather. alot of the time the southern most parts of fronts like that can become almost stalled out and the rain just trains over the same areas. thank you brian . you are a top notch weatherman. which is important being that the weather affects everyone on this planet, every minute of every day.

Hi Brian, every time it rains like this up in the mountains for some reason people forget or ignore flash river floods that occur in seconds, relaxing in a calm river that turns into a rush of water and mud.Yesterday another tourist died here in PR. The other reason is rip currents in an apparently calm beach. The tend to swim ashore instead of parallel until help arrives or usually find a way back in. The main point is some people just ignore warnings.
My prayers go out to the affected families of those turmoiled areas. Please follow protocols. Sir Brian, you are the ultimate weather Guru. Nice threads and blessings and continued blessings and safety to and for all..

Hello Brian, I am a follower of yours and I live in the Dominican Republic, what we experienced yesterday in Santo Domingo was terrible, it was a very enormous experience, I had to go through the situation on the street, because I was working and left at 04:30 in the afternoon, it was already raining since yesterday morning, but from 01:00 pm it started to rain more intensely, there were long intense and constant hours of a lot of rain, gusts of strong winds and many electric shocks, I couldn't get there to my house because in the sector where I live I was cut off, terrible urban floods, the river overflowed, and deaths were also reported, I will never forget yesterday.
