Jelly roll has such an inspiring story. Former cocaine dealer who served time, did freestyle rapping to make ends meet, marries a high end call girl, they build a great life together and next thing you know hes being asked to play the grand ol oprey and has songs on country radio. As jelly himself says in a song he died with yelawolf, "the losers are winning again"
That awesome! I already really enjoyed his voice and the concept behind this song but now I'm definitely more interested in hearing more. I love a good underdog story
Brooo you ever seen his first freestyle it was 10 minutes long in a trap house and theres a dude litteraly doing blow behind him hes transformed alot as a man as a father and husband jelly and how he is with his family is just a shining example of redemption and hard work
He was in prison, in the gang unit from 14 years old til he was 20 years old. He is very open about everything in his life. If you come across a podcast interview watch it. Definitely worth it
And now he visits prisons and talks to inmates, especially the youth prisons. He also buys the inmates instruments and is building recording studios in several of those facilities. Just trying to give them another outlet to turn their lives around.

I believe God answers every prayer. The issue for many of us is that we don't want to accept that sometimes God's answer is 'no.' I just discovered Jelly Roll recently too. 'Son of a sinner' is great & 'Save me' will pull at your heart strings. He was in a gang as a teen & ended up in prison for 5 years. He got out at 23 & started doing rap. Now his music is high on the country charts, with the songs I mentioned & this one. I heard him in an interview last week & he said he writes for people like him. He says he knows exactly who his audience is. I love his voice; however, the writing is superb.

I never pray for myself. Figure I can handle most anything. I pray for others. My 21yr old sons friend died from cancer. I prayed and begged God to save him. But he passed away. It's hard to watch a 19yr old kid die.

Heard the song first before the video and thought it was a great song. After seeing the music video with the song I cried so hard when you see the little girl in the hospital. I have a Son and another child possibly on the way and could help but think how I would feel in that situation and couldn’t hold the tears back as a Father.
As soon as you saw that scene I saw that demeanor change in what you were feeling on your reaction seeing it was a child. It hit me the same way the first time and I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.
Sometimes it's lack of faith, sometimes He doesn't answer because He has something better store than what you think you want

My thoughts on prayers being answered. I believe he does however His time is eternal so for Him it was immediately but for us who’s time is limited it seems like it takes forever or goes unanswered. All my 20s I prayed for my wife and a family, at 30 I was born again and 5 years later I married the love of my life and she had a daughter so I got my wife and family in one day. Truly blessed

Way to many people only want their "prayers" to be answered in a set, specific, "my way or no way" fashion. I believe God answers true prayers in many ways, but that's just my belief. A song by Garth Brooks is a good example with his song "Unanswered Prayers", the lyrics -

He just had the number one song on Country radio "Son of a Sinner" You are right, he is not trained. He said he just kinda found his voice. He started out singing hooks on rap songs. "Save Me" got him recognised and invited to Grand Ole Opry. Oh, he has a song with Brantley Gilbert that Jelly raps on. "Son of the Dirty South"

I thought your reaction was very powerful, I do know that "unanswered" prayers are hard for even people who follow God always, but I also think that God ALWAYS answers our prayers. I may be wrong, but I feel like God always says "Yes", "No", or "Not right now". We're impatient creatures, so "Not right now" is probably the hardest thing to have come back to us. I'm not sure if I agree that God won't answer a prayer the way we want due to our dedication, because God says that we always have the opportunity, no matter how sporadic, to reach out to Him. And that He loves us the same no matter how we come to Him. But I think if we don't pray often and we don't have that bond with God it can FEEL like God is playing favorites because we don't understand or want to accept that His telling us "No" or "Not right now" is ultimately for our own good. But anyway, those are just my thoughts, I don't know who's right or if we both are. But I loved your thoughtful response to the video. Thanks for sharing.

Love this song. The “word g-d” doesn’t exist. A lifetime of prayer starting in desperate prayer several times per day from when I was two landed me with a broken nose and black eye by my birth supposed mother who punched me in the face. She told me I was worthless and god doesn’t listen to evil sinners and if I didn’t agree that I fell down the outside steps I would get another beating.

You said that king James says doubt in Jesus will get you nothing. You have to worship and gravel to him in order to be heard. Don’t you realize the church made that all up to keep its members in check? Y’all are tripping believing these fairy tales.
Well, actually it’s just a matter of believing. Whole heartedly. A Christian chooses to worship because once they experience Gods grace and the peace that comes over their life they CHOOSE to worship. There’s no need to beg. Simply ask and believe. Being a Christian is actually pretty simple. God doesn’t force us to “gravel” or beg or plead he simply asks us to believe and have a relationship with him. It’s very very simple. Due to your name being lost hope and you going out of your way to subtly insult people that believe or maybe try to convince them they are “tripping” I would assume that it weighs heavy on your heart. Not all “Christian’s” are judgemental in fact they aren’t Christian’s at all so if anyone ever wronged you I’m sorry. I would also argue that believing what the government and the so called scientists tell you about how we came to be is equally tripping. They for sure try to control us as proven by multiple scenarios. So just let everyone be bro stop trying to convince everyone to follow your way of thinking.
