I hope he realized ALOT of people were concerned about him when they read in the press about his illness. Not all people 'laugh'. There are always many, many, many good people who care.
Love Love Love Adam Ant.....still to this day. Breaks my heart that he has to deal with the horrible illness. He is a beautiful soul and I hope that he is doing well now.
I have the utmost respect for Adam! The shit he went through his entire life, his childhood, his disease, and the record companies. When I heard about these things, it brought me to tears. Nobody deserves his fame more than him. I lost touch with Adam's career when life got in the way, but I recently reconnected and strangely enough, I still remember the words and emotions.
Joyce, I really resonated with what you said. I too lost touch with his career as I moved to live in the Middle East working for an airline. I have recently reconnected and have binged watched seemingly every singing and interview video on youtube. I always knew he was talented and a great artist, but he is an unbelievably nice guy, I had no idea. I also was not aware of many of his later songs. I cannot get through the day without playing the live performance at Howard Stern's radio station of Wonderful which I have never heard before. The emotion he puts into that song blows me away every time and being an empath take on that emotion as though it were mine. My biggest regret is never having seen him live, and if he ever plays again, I will be there where ever it is in the UK. God broke the mold when he made him, a total original. I hope his life brings him more joy now, as he deserves to be happy and feel sure he is a wonderful Dad to his daughter.
Well,Adam is having the last laugh- the 2017 tour has been dynamite, five star reviews in US & UK . Saw him in Glasgow a few months ago,he sounded amazing & looks 42,not 62. Rocked the venue from the word go & Glasgow can be a notoriously difficult audience!! Nobody deserves it more than him, lets hope there is another tour in 2018.
"It's uncertain when - or if - Adam will perform again." - The Madness of Prince Charming, 2004 Ten years later - New album out 18 months ago, a number of national and international tours, multiple TV appearances, performed his debut album in its entirety at the Hammersmith Apollo with original A&tA members... all whilst still battling bipolar disorder and creeping up on sixty years of age. Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the finest artists Britain has ever produced.
+Dwight Schrute Ignorance is bliss, Adam and the Ants changed the face of music forever. He isn't the only one but he is still one of the most influencial artists there has ever been, just go look it up. I totally agree last caress. I'm going to see him perform the entirety of Kings of the Wild Frontier next year and I am incredibly excited for it!!
+Dwight Schrute Oh I wish, Adam used to ride regularly where I used to work with horses in London, always too late, born to late. I'm sure we could be the best of friends if I turned up on my pony but she died.
I met him at a record signing in Manchester, I was taken aback at how polite and professional he was. He made me laugh, he called me a rascall, I just had said I saw him acting in this TV show. Fond memories of the Adam and the ants sound and great movie style videos. I wondered many times after that meeting what he was doing now, was he still acting. Good to hear he's still performing.
I must admit that I was hesitant to watch this documentary based on the title, but this was handled with dignity, honesty, and openness and I'm glad that i did watch it. I hope that it opens the eyes of many people in understanding and having compassion for those of us with mental health issues instead of being judgmental. Everyone faces a battle that you know nothing about. I admire and love Adam Ant, and am glad he's back to doing what he loves. Lifelong fan since hearing Antmusic on WBCN in 1980, and I'll be a fan forever. I wish I could thank him for his music, entertainment, and his showmanship.
I have to say I too was extremely influenced by Adam Ant, and Adam and the Ants. A friend of mine turned me on to his music, after the fact, but quite frankly his music and vision has withstood the test of time. I see a lot of Brits weighing in here which is cool, I really had no idea how beloved he is, then and now. As an American I first discovered him in the spring of 1990 when my closest friend loaned me Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming. That was it for me, I fully embraced his energy and voice and looks and ESPECIALLY the music ... !!! Everything. He was a huge influence on me and I still enjoy listening to his music. There was no introduction, no press darlings (sorry, couldn't resist!), his music was presented to me isolated from any hype, good or bad, and it's absolutely brilliant. His contribution to musical history will resonate forever. P.s. I too suffer from depression and I think it's great that he's so open about discussing it. P.s.s. I disagree about knocking Marco Pirroni. He himself is no less talented and I daresay there are a few famous musical artists that wouldn't be where they are now without his support through the years. I love Marco as much as I love Adam Ant! Anyway that's just the long way of saying ... great documentary! Adam Ant is still a sexy beast. ;-)
I love Adam Ant. I think he is still beautiful. There is no doubt he is a great guy and a very talented one. I wish he knew how much all of us 12 and 13 year old girls from the 80's still love him. It is sad to hear of all of the troubles he has had and he is still so young. He needs to write a book if he hasn't already. People would read it and it could help others with this illness to understand that they are not alone. And it could help those that don't understand depression understand
I'd probably describe Adam Ant aka Stuart, the same way as many individually talented and unique prodigies of the past: a tortured genius. Justine actually speaks of this in the video about Adam Ant (and his ants). He says if it wasn't for Bi-polar Disorder he might never have been famous at all. His music is very much in a category of its own and I think Spear of Destiny modelled their sound on the drums of The Ants. And Marco is a fabulous friend. Reminds me of a friend of my own: Adie.
fascinating video. very proud of Adam for talking so candid about mental illness and being so upfront about his own struggle with it. I saw him when I was 14 in 1984 and I'm seeing him at 42 tomorrow night - can't wait :)
Marco always seemed an unknown quantity as I never heard him say anything, it was always Adam in the limelight. He did come across in this as very articulate actually. He must have had a very hard time even in the glory years.
So much I could say about bipolar, I’m bipolar, I’ve excelled at so many things, I’m an aircraft engineer, ex soldier, but was kicked out for being too violent, I’m now a jeweller, I’ve been a carpenter, car mechanic, and even a dustman and a blade smith, all held together in manic highs and depressive lows, so I’ve been there, nothing but respect for this man and his achievements with such a huge burden on his shoulders.
Adam I'm glad you can be open about what you are going through. I hope you are doing well. Someday mental illness will be understood better than it is now. I have it too.
I think I shall just remember Adam as that handsome guy with a pirate smile that I was in love with when I was 12 and leave it at that. So sorry he had to go through all of that. :(
Marco, as well as a fantastic musician, was so much more to Stewart, this guy obviously cared for a friend and was and I presume is and always will be for him, also shout out to his teacher from school
us boys who weren't born back then still love him too! he's always been dead brave, i admire hell out of him for talking about his depression like this. i know it sounds a bit chris crocker, but why do people have to stick their noses in? he's a person too, not a cartoon character. like his teacher said, he's sick! to me he'll always be an innovative + exciting *artist*. ridicule is nothing to be afraid of! he taught me that!
He's a talented musician...I just saw him perform a couple weeks ago..FANTASTIC performance …. rocked the stage like someone half his age... Poured his heart out for over 2 hours.. incredible stamina. I'm 58 and was so impressed to see him again 40 yrs later.
"Ridicule is nothing to be scared of..." is, in my opinion, the greatest line in any song, ever.
I hope he realized ALOT of people were concerned about him when they read in the press about his illness. Not all people 'laugh'. There are always many, many, many good people who care.

He was/is very unique and so was his music. I wish him all the best.

Adam has made Bipolar cool and hip - thank you, Adam...
I am so excited to see Adam Ant in concert next month! I love him so much.

I'm pleased Adam is still Performing live , I hope he feels better for it
Adam has nothing to be ashamed of, Good for him. He is a stand up guy, like he has always been, and a big FU to everyone who thought he was done.
I'd probably describe Adam Ant aka Stuart, the same way as many individually talented and unique prodigies of the past: a tortured genius.

Amazing!! As a child of a Bi-Polar parent, it was great to see someone show the world whats going on
Marco, you are, to me, a saint. I wish I could know you better.
Marco always seemed an unknown quantity as I never heard him say anything, it was always Adam in the limelight. He did come across in this as very articulate actually. He must have had a very hard time even in the glory years.
hes a good guy , deserves better ,
I have this overwhelming desire to give him a hug right now. Depression is a tough road to travel.
thanks for uploading this. Adam will always have a part of my young heart. Wish him the best in taking it one hour at a time...
Respect you Adam !
ridicule is nothing to be scared of - nor is mental illness.

Nothing but kudos to you Russell, genuinely best wishes from someone you don't even know :)
Adam I'm glad you can be open about what you are going through. I hope you are doing well. Someday mental illness will be understood better than it is now. I have it too.
