I have watched several guides over the last few weeks getting back into the game. I must say that a combination of your voice, the way you say things, how you explain things as well as the visual when explaining have made you the best out of all of them. Thank you very much for taking the time to make things like this for people like me.
@TheReorxist Thank you for the kind words! We really appreciate the support and hope we can continue to bring content that is useful and that helps break down some of the complexities in this game we all love. 😊
Great guide, man. Thanks! It's hilarious, but I managed to beat all 9th m+ keys on frostfire, but I didn't know/didn't pay attention to Death's Chill debuff - basically ignoring casting frostfire bolts to generate stacks. It's time to relearn the rotation xD
@hrbrm Thanks for the comment! There is also a build without the Death's Chill. You lose a small amount of DPS with it but not significant. For lower level keys it is probably better since enemies tend not to live as long for the ramp up.
Love the guide! Very well done and no fat to try and sift through. Would you mind posting or DMing your mage weakauras so I can get a similar UI? Seems similar to Luxthos but I like that it’s more simple. Thank you!
@alexrobinson5375 Thanks for the question. Those are Luxthos Weakauras. I customize them using the options that Luxthos provides and also a couple of customizations that I add myself depending on the class and spec. I talk about the customization in a video we did previously here. ruclips.net/video/B3mIXaN_0aM/видео.html
hey really like your video! really informative, though i personally have better results with going ray of frost (both talents) and frozen touch instead of cold front and perma frost and chain reaction, hope you keep up the great work though!
@TheBart1094 Thanks for the comment! Part of what is great about the talent trees is that exact thing. We can build them in different ways. I could never get used to adding in Ray of Frost. For me it always made the rotation feel clunky. 😊
@icyflamezkurotsuchi4265 Thanks for the comment! Yeah it is much better which is great if you prefer Frostfire. Leave it to Blizz to buff it right after we release a video ... haha.
Nice video, but one question, why are you casting Flurry with 4 icicles before Glacial Spike? Isn't that a waste of 1 winter's chill? Cause target may only have 2 winter's chill at once
@vcs811 Thanks for the question. There is an interaction with Flurry that you don't actually see on the UI. Flurry hits the target 3 times so you actually get 3 stacks of Winter's Chill but the target can only have a maximum of two at a time. We try and shatter a spell on the first Flurry debuff before the other two Flurry bolts reach the target, thus taking advantage of all 3 stacks. This works due to spell queuing. Flurry hits, we immediately cast Glacial Spike to shatter it before the other two Flurry bolts hit which gives us the final 2 stacks of Winter's Chill. It is a bit of min-max style of play if you can take advantage of it.
Still getting my head around the shatter rotation. I assumed each flurry bolt applied 1 winters chill, so 3 total. But when I slowed down your rotation example each bolt applied 2 stacks? Is that right. Seems like an oversight on blizzards side to let us apply 6 stacks of winters chill and only get to use 3 of them
@fulldrawpainting Thanks for the comment! That is correct each bolt applies Winter's Chill. I think the 2 you are seeing on the debuff above the enemy is the two remaining. Each time you Shatter you use one of those so you see it counting down. The first one of the three is used by the Frostfire Bolt or Glacial Spike if you cast Frostfire Bolt or Glacial Spike immediately followed by the Flurry so you never see that one. You will see that 2 popup every time I cast Flurry. Let me know if there is a specific spot in the video where you are seeing this. Thanks!
Hello Could you mention what addon are you using that changes flurry and ice lance to the excess frost & fire buffs? that seems like a massive helper for the rotation
@dante93nero That is a class weakaura made by Luxthos. His weakauras are really good and provide a lot of customization options as well to set up how you like.
@nici8919 Great question! We typically do not take Death's Chill in Single Target but it looks like a new build has emerged since 11.0.7 release that does take it along with Ray of Frost. I have not played this variant of Frost so do not know too much about the play style. From what I have looked at it does not look like you need to play into DC specifically since you are spamming Frostfire Bolt in place of Ice Lance in most cases. So when Icy Veins is up, the spamming of Frostfire Bolts in this build will increase your DC stacks just from the normal rotation.
I’ve been playing a lot of frostfire but I’m really starting to feel like Death’s Chill and Blizzard are a trap that reduces overall damage in most instances. The downtime just isn’t worth the return. I’ve found far better success without it. Overall great video! 🎉
@Rigman- Agreed! I run without Death's Chill as well. To really get the full benefit of Death's Chill you need mobs to stay alive long enough to get to the 15 stacks and then be able to take advantage of the 15% damage gain long enough. For open world content or Delves / low level keys it is better to run without Death's chill since mobs die too fast.
@Muchomango1337 No need to apologize and thanks for the question! So you will see the initial opener when I start on the training dummy. For the rotation, there is not a set spell order, so what you'll see is me hitting spells according to priority. The list that is shown for the rotation for both single target and AoE is a priority list and it's this way for a lot of specs. You start at the top of the list and if you can do that action then that is what you do. If not, then you go to the next thing in the list and do that if you can. Then the third list item and so on. Once you take any action you go back to the top of the list and find the first thing you can do as you go done the list of priorities. Hope this helps and if you have further questions definitely shout them out.
@itcheebeard It is more for Glacial Spike which does a lot of damage when it Crits from Winter's Chill. Also Comet Storm benefits from Winter's Chill. So those two primarily. We also get some Ice Lances in there as well.
@@itcheebeard I have the Death's Chill build in there for completeness but I use the build without it. Unless you have time to actually ramp up the damage it does not provide a lot of benefit. Mobs have to live for a long time which is usually high level M+ as opposed to most other content.
So without fingerfrost or winters chill we don’t use ice lance and we should spam frostfirebolt till we have one of those 2 and go back to ice lance? Sry new to mage
@anibalrojas618 Thanks for the comment! Spamming Frostbolt is the way the rotation used to work. Now we try and get Glacial Spikes in as much as possible just due to it doing so much more damage, especially when the enemy is Frozen. You might cast Glacial Spike before or after Flurry depending on whether you already have 5 Icicles or not. For Ice Lance that is correct we typically want to wait for Fingers of Frost or Winter's Chill since it will do triple damage against frozen targets.
@@anibalrojas618 If you have your AoE abilities up and there are at least 3 enemies alive, then skip using it. If all of your AoE abilities are on cooldown then we switch over to Glacial Spike and more Single Target type rotation until AoE abilities come back up.

Single target damage has gone up quite a lot since the buffs. It’s still not quite matching Spellslinger but it’s much closer now.
