    I have 2 Coway 1512s and I think they're great. I bought 3 Winix 5500's for my elderly parents because they were cheaper. Overall, I'd say the Winix are better. They're significantly cheaper and they do a much better job of removing odors and smells because of the pre-carbon filter. You won't get odor elimination from the Coway purifiers, be warned. They'll remove smoke, pollen, dust and lots of other things, but not bad smells. For that, the Winix is much better option.

      Totally agree. I have a Coway airmega 200m and the Winix 5500-2 in my kitchen/living room area for testing. We are Asian, so our food is sometimes considered a "foul smell" for the regular American. The Winix removed every bit of the cooking smell.

      I have 5 Winix 5500-2 air purifiers spaced strategically throughout my 1972sqft home and they have been working excellently for me. Neither my wife or I smoke but we have two house dogs that can get pretty smelly in between baths and groomings, a female Beagle and a female Border Collie/hound mix. Plus these dogs shed a good deal. I keep my floors swept daily and large rugs vacuumed weekly, but the Winix machines still pull in some dog hair and need to be vacuumed every few weeks. Our house smelled bad sometimes before we got the machines, even though we're pretty regular with cleaning. The Winix 5500-2 machines I keep set on '2' all the time, cranking them to '3' during the day when there's more activity. I rarely use the 'auto' mode just because the interior of the house stays pretty shady unless lights are on or window blinds up, and the light-sensor for the machines would keep them in 'sleep' mode. As for my electric bill, running the purifiers like I do, I haven't noticed a huge difference. BUT THE AIR QUALITY! HUGE DIFFERENCE! Buy one or several, you won't regret it. You're better off buying several of these if you have a large home, and spacing them throughout the home, than buying more than one of the big, expensive air purifiers.

    For me, the Winix is the winner due to the activated carbon pellets vs the mesh carbon filter on the coway. All things considered extra gadgets on the coway does not increase filtration which is the whole point of an air filter in the first place.

    Is there any way to get a pellet carbon filter for the co way? It would probably cost more, but it would be nice if there was one to put in the co way

    • @AirPurifierFirst

  • @GEORGE-jf2vz

    No way. The Winix is the winner. 1- activated carbon pellets, much better with VOCs. 2- Cost to buy and operate.

    • @AirPurifierFirst
      @AirPurifierFirst  3 года назад +4

      It doesn't matter which model of these two you choose, both are outstanding. If you need a sensor for detecting the dust, then the Coway is your best buy!

      @@AirPurifierFirst Yeah they are both really good, but I was taking to someone earlier that has a coway as well as an independent handheld air quality unit and said that those on all lower-end purifiers are not accurate. He actually likes the winix a little better because of the pellet based carbon fiber filter and suggested getting one of the independent quality sensors together with it and would be the best way to go, so that's probably what I will do

    What do u think is better price/quality wise ,the levoit lv-128 or the levoit lv-132? For a room around 151 feet and my room gets a lot of dust within a day

    • @AirPurifierFirst
      @AirPurifierFirst  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question.
      They both have a similar CFM, which is approx 70CFM. The difference is that the Levoit LV-H132 carbon filter is a bit better. Also, LV-H132 had a slightly better performance in my tests.
      The LV-H128 is a less noisy device, and also it uses less power than the LV-H132.
      In the end, I would suggest another model from the same company, the Levoit Core 300. It can fight these two with ease, and it's not much more expensive.

Could the Coway be "slightly different" from the Winix, while the Winix is, say, identical to the Coway? I must admit to never watching the rest of the video.
