@@zazzy1651 Hey, notion could be great for this! You can have your regular notes on a book gallary with tags for you to search up and look back on, I use it for almost everything. It's one of the most helpful tools to me, u should check it out if you're still interested in taking notes that way (lol I'm not even payed for this but I keep advertising Notion since its my fav thing ever, I'm in love with itttttttt)
I'm on a wave of reading self-help books this year and I've read many articles and watched various RUclips videos showing tips, but mostly they're oriented towards aiming good grades-which is very useful-but not when you're already outside the academic context. This one, I believe, suits with reading non-fiction books better. This is the first time I encountered asking yourself and going back to that question after each chapter to see how you'll implement it. I want to add on the last part that in addition to transferring notes to a computer (great for recall), one may reflect and review on how you've progressed in your personal and professional life after engaging with the book. Thank you. I seldom like videos (because they serve as bookmarks for me) and this one is one I'll definitely add to the list. (Wishful thinking, but what if the same could be done for novels? Or maybe that's too "nerdy" 😅)
This helped me so much for my school notes! I didn't notice all the stuff I'm doing wrong, and now I'm so much more effective, I remember everything. Helped a lot! Thanks!
Fantastic advice - thank you so much! I prefer to hand-write my favorite quotes from a digital copy of the book into a journal because it helps me remember more but I LOVE the idea of trying to summarize a whole chapter in your own words.
I like how I’m taking notes about taking effective notes, UPDATE the notes I’m currently taking are jealous. Jokes a side you gave me great tips thanks a lot man I’m implementing them today.
Book reading process 1. Think of a broader question before you start reading a book or a chapter of the book, this helps to have a vision while reading and you don’t loose interest. 2. Get ready with your journal, highlighter, pencil and pen - all the accessories you need while reading, to set the environment for reading. 3. Read a page, then highlight - don’t blindly highlight everything you read. Use a pencil to write short key words or notes (this helps to have active participation) 4. After completing a chapter, make your book notes in your journal - life up the important points, the key phrases and learning and write them down as it is. 5. The most important point, after you are done lifting the important pointers, use the second short journal to summarise the notes in your language without looking at any of the material. This is the ‘active recall technique’. 6. After completing the book, answer the question you initially were hunting in five good, summarised pointers- this helps you to review the book and gives you credible answers to your question which you could then put to practice. 7. As a habit, after you’re done with the above process and also done with a particular book, visit your notes frequently.
Your video answered all of my questions in my struggle to effectively reading and taking notes! As a graduate student who has been out of school for years, I struggle to get notes whike reading. I have been trying to get notes while I read, but that method breaks my concentration. Your recommendations are so simple and clearly effective. Thank you for sharing!
well thank you. great knowledge in thisvideo. actually Being consistent and persistent is little bit tough. but watching videos like yours fills a new spirit to start reading.
Your insights are amazing! I've thought a lot about how I can better retain information I'm reading, and your points on relating to the content with a question, summarizing, and revisiting the notes regularly is so good. Thank you.
Having a question in mind is amazing as it works for you to filter out what you need & increase your motivation as you said. Great video & I'm looking forward to your future videos
Confirmed some of my theories especially on taking notes after the chapter from memory as well as spaced repetition once a week. I’ll do mine on Saturday. Thank you sir.
Great points. And actually reading a book which you have interest in or why to find is good to go because eventually you'll end up reading it completely. I was actually looking out for how to retain what we have read. The notes from each chapter would help a lot. Thanks a lot. Gratitude 🙏
Your video is full of information I like the idea of highlighting the page after you read whole page because in the past I note that I highlight more than I need to highlight. I all also appreciate the idea of take note after you read each chapter of book. Because if we take note after the reading of full book then we will not gain more from the book and we will forget most of the thing from the book. Thanks brother for great tips.
Excellent tips.i used to take notes this way during literature review for my research. Felt so productive after successfully summarising several articles using these techniques over the years.
I actually don't take note from reading or watching at that time, but after one month,/months I take note from that topic I have read a monthe ago. This help me simple reference my notes. And easy remember topics. More understanding the topic
You highlighted a page.. I can't! But thank you for your insight. I've been trying to take notes when I'm reading, specially when I'm reading the nonfiction ones.
This is excellent, and quite helpful! I wanted to take notes while watching lol. I'd love to see more of your reading, note-taking, and organizing process.
I am following you on Instagram. But you are really awesome Guy and active learner I will share your videos on my channel too.. in future and my friends too. You are really nice guy. Thank Aun. Love from India❤️🇮🇳
I need to develop my note taking skills, but I think I’m wasting a lot of time due to my current ability. My thinking is that the extra time spent developing the skill will benefit any future learning. I’ll set a goal of 1 book with notes per fortnight. Though I’d prefer to read 1 book per week.
I like the points about highlighting after reading the page and thinking about it for a while and taking notes after reading the chapter, its all too easy to mistake recognition with recall!
Hello professor Thank you so much for your help and advice, I really appreciate your job. I wish you peace and happiness under the sky of prosperity. All the best. Take care and have a good time. Your follower from Algeria
Loved this video Aun. I constantly used to give up midway reading a book but now I've some good tips to overcome that shortcoming. Thanks alott for this and love from India💫💜
Thank you! your advice gave me a solid outline for note taking/ information retention practice. I also like the idea of transferring physical notes to a laptop, that will help with information retention.
Would you mind giving some examples of questions to ask before reading a book? And how many questions should I have in mind? Eg. financial books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad, E Myth ext
This was really helpful! Could you clarify what you mean by having a question in mind? For example, “what do I want to take away from this book” or something more specific?
Something a bit more specific depending on the book. For example, Atomic Habits by James Clear A question would be, which habit can I create and which habit can I stop. Frame the book by a habit you want to create and get rid of.
Productive note taking

Good job bro @kafka65
I read the whole book first. I read it again and take notes and make a presentation from it.
Very helpful ❤
I love this idea!
Finally! A person who doesnt ramble on for 2 minutes before getting to the point! This was brilliantly to the point. Thank you!
“Ask yourself a question before you begin…” WOW thank you!
It's simple but effective.
The idea to summarize a chapter with my own words is fantastic. Thank you!

Thank you my friend! Appreciate the support. Please share 👍📚
It definitely does this is great... it’s just what I needed
Doesn’t if that’s not what people are looking for..
Really! This is so practical
For real 🥀

3. Highlight + Notate in your own words what's impactful for you *only after reading a page

The video was short, yet so precise, useful and actually informative. With no fluff.
Thank you for highlighting a whole page just for the sake of demonstrating to us ^-^
