Everyone who said it’s not in their control basically said it’s just extremely difficult which does not equate to not being in your control. Even as someone who suffers from depression and stays in bed for hours upon hours, sometimes the whole day with no drive, I understand it is still in my control to push myself to break that cycle. Some days I’m defeated by my mental state, but it is still in my control to do something even when my inner voice is telling me everything is pointless.

I bet if you asked them how long they been scrolling and they were honest, there would be enough time to set aside to work out. it’s not easy mentally. I disagree. I think it maybe used to be that way, but I keep a strict grocery budget, so I usually only have enough for healthy foods. I have to save up for weeks if I want to treat myself to a frozen meal or processed snack. My parents would force me to eat and finish all my meals, regardless of the portion size. Now, as an adult, I have the freedom to make my own choices, and I prioritize eating healthier and exercising most days of the week.
Why are they acting like obese is slang? That doesn’t even make sense for a “body positive” attitude. Also I’m surprised nobody there knows the medical definition for what is considered obese. It’s over 25% body fat for men and over 30% body fat for women. BMI is irrelevant bc it isn’t an accurate system but body fat percentage actually means something and should be treated as fact not feelings.

Im fat af and I’ve been on that working out shi for about 6 months without doing anything fancy : I count my calories on MyFitnessPal, try to stay in a caloric deficit, workout at home for 20-40 minutes tops about 3 times/week and I try to do some extra exercices here and there (like someone said in the comments, pushups/squats/lunges/dips they are all free and can be done everywhere at any time). It’s a matter of consistency ! That’s the only key tor this to work for anyone. All that sugarcoating is simply stupid.

It is harder to lose weight with medical conditions but that means you just have to work harder. Money isn’t an excuse either. There are PLENTY of cheap, healthy options. Also, you can still cook even with a full time job. It’s called time management. I have a child and I’m pregnant with twins and I cook everyday, multiple times a day. My husband works so much so I often have to do it by myself. I’m sick of the excuses.

I’m 5’6 and 150, when I was younger I was overweight, 170. I lost a lot of weight by starving myself and over exercising, but I’ve kept it by being healthy and exercising a normal amount. I’m not stick thin, and I’m still in the process of trying to lose a little more weight and gain some muscle, but I know I’ll never be skinny-skinny. However, this journey has made me realize how in control you are of your own weight. Yes, not everybody is meant to be tiny and not every healthy body is thin, but there is a certain weight that is simply not natural. It’s about treating yourself with a certain respect. Just make sure to do it healthily otherwise it won’t stick lol.

being fat is a 100% a choice. i’ve lost over 100 pounds in just about 7 months in what most would be consider to be a healthy way, through weight training and cal deficit. but i can say without a doubt that being fat is a mental thing, and comes down to not caring enough to make a change. and that’s why people get so offended when they get called fat or obese, at the end of the day they know it’s because they’re not disciplined enough to make the changes they need to make.

Im fat af and I’ve been on that working out shi for about 6 months without doing anything fancy : I count my calories on MyFitnessPal, try to stay in a caloric deficit, workout at home for 20-40 minutes tops about 3 times/week and I try to do some extra exercices here and there (like someone said in the comments, pushups/squats/lunges/dips they are all free and can be done everywhere at any time). It’s a matter of consistency ! That’s the only key tor this to work for anyone. All that sugarcoating is simply stupid.
the economic argument is crazy because yes not everyone can buy gym memberships but u can do workouts at home and go one walks like also if you care about health enough you can get it done and put it in your routine

Most people think of going to the gym or bettering themselves in general in absolutes and I think that’s one of the underlying reasons behind people not deciding to change when studies show all you really need for the first few years of lifting is to work out and push yourself 2x a week for 30 min

I used to hold an extreme position in this topic, siding with the 100% it is your fault. But once you realize how bad the fast food industry targets people especially kids, and then you have the pharmaceutical industry offering you the "solution", you realize the toxic prepetual cycle of keeping us unhealthy and sick that they keep us in. Yes. There are certain medical conditions and medications that can make it harder to stay slim like PCOS or Thyroid problems but you change your diet and increase exercise to fight it. Some people on medications or those with certain medical conditions don’t make the changes to stay slim meaning they’re making the choice to be obese. It is harder to lose weight with medical conditions but that means you just have to work harder.
Money isn’t an excuse either. There are PLENTY of cheap, healthy options. Also, you can still cook even with a full time job. It’s called time management. I have a child and I’m pregnant with twins and I cook everyday, multiple times a day. My husband works so much so I often have to do it by myself.

Ye being fat can definitely be a choice and I felt like my trauma with being skinny and weak as a kid and not being able to protect myself played a part with all the excuses I've been making as those years but yea I'm trying to be more active because I definitely need more stamina it would definitely help with having more energy if I would were to be in situations

I’m 5’6 and 150, when I was younger I was overweight, 170. I lost a lot of weight by starving myself and over exercising, but I’ve kept it by being healthy and exercising a normal amount. I’m not stick thin, and I’m still in the process of trying to lose a little more weight and gain some muscle, but I know I’ll never be skinny-skinny. However, this journey has made me realize how in control you are of your own weight. Yes, not everybody is meant to be tiny and not every healthy body is thin, but there is a certain weight that is simply not natural. It’s about treating yourself with a certain respect. Just make sure to do it healthily otherwise it won’t stick lol.
