Yea that sums it up! I wanted to convey that the Cabal's strength was their weakness. As they struggled to pick themselves up after a wave, the Hive would just open another portal. Not even their best ad-clearers could hold on for that long.
Honestly it's times like this I really wish we could experience various Lore events in game. Imagine trying to face a never ending swarm of aggressive Hive during the Fall of Torobatl, or defending the Last City against the Fallen Houses during the battle of Twilight Gap and Six Fronts.
I really hope Xivu is actually that big when we fight her. Maybe there's a fight with a regular knight (Kelgorath again, one last time) serving as Xivu's champion, but halfway through killing it, you just hear 'ENOUGH OF THIS. YOU WILL FACE ME NOW! YOU WILL DIE, _NOW!"_ and she just steps through and absolutely destroys the arena, leading to a boss fight like something out of attack on titan.
I was hoping that smth similar like this would happen during the Season of the Wish ending, her champion getting pulled back and a massive sword coming through the portal, but of course it had to be 2 tombships instead XDDDD
You can feel the sense of dread and hopelessness of the battle through the music, but also the fact that the Cabal probably fought with more ferocity and power than they ever have before. The despair at the end when they finally accept they've lost. I would LOVE to see this moment in destiny history animated. The full might of the Cabal homeworld military against the Hive God of War and her hoard.
Thanks! You summed it up pretty well. I think with the upcoming episodes in TFS, particularly HERESY, we might move away from the inkblots and get more cutscenes that cover lore like this. Hoping!
I loved the Shattered Suns pieces. This is great. I'm not sure what elements are Hive, but Cabal themes in-game are definitely "heavy thumping march" sounding. (I'm a musical genius with that terminology, I know xD /s ) So the horn? sounds fit well for Cabal. Honestly, I can't review and do it justice. But the whole piece felt like a battle. Not quite over in an instant, but long enough to have some "fighting in futility" to it. Fighting a losing battle vibe throughout. Can't wait for what you have planned next.
Thank you! For the Hive, I referenced the horror elements like strings and choir from Shadowkeep. I gave Xivu Arath a "Battlesong" theme in a weird time-signature to contrast with the heavy march of the Cabal. Though the Cabal are known for their brass theme, I quite liked the music in season of the Haunted that used more strings.
