I've enjoyed it so far! People are SUPER friendly. Kinda weird how friendly. I think it has a lot to do with the fact they haven't met a lot of Americans so they show a lot of interest ( in my experience )

if you had asked someone in albania to pay your taxi and explain the situation how it is they probably would have paid it and not ask for money next day. I know i would have paid your taxi.
That is very nice of you / Albanians. I would’ve found a way to pay one way or another. And I would’ve 110% given the money back to someone if they paid for me To be very clear, I LOVED my experience in Albania and I will certainly be back
Was the 3rd card a WISE Card?? Or did that last bank phone call clear up the last card issue? 'Do you take Cards"? "Sure"... proceeds to drive you to an ATM at the destination 2 hrs away. Yea, glad you didn't let it get to you. Sometimes we do that and then the rest of the day or week or whatever also cascades into a negative experience. Box it up and toss it in the trash, forget about it and keep moving with positivity. Best plan.
No, I only have the digital version of my wise card right now ... when they switched to a more secure provider or whatever in July(?) my card stopped working and getting my card shipped to Mexico has been a nightmare. Practically everywhere is tap to pay so hasn't really been an issue until now.

LOL! Just a heads up, most business is done in cash, except for malls or most jewlery stores. But yeah, you're right, the cabs need to have card readers, especially those picking up people from the airport. A few months ago I made the mistake to go to Rome without any cash, and let's say that the cab situation was just as terrible.
Third time this summer in Albania and I absolutely loved each and every time I was there! I also would like to know what shit hole state you’re from because i guarantee you Tirana is a much cleaner and safer city than where you are from!
I can't imagine going somewhere without cash money, i have been in USA and border police asked me for cash money and credits card, because maybe for many reason that credit card will not work ,what you will do in this case, instead of join the journey, you will take action to solve your problems.
Actually thats the most normal thing to do, get cash at cashpoint. On the other hand traveling to foreign country with zero cash and a card you’re not sure it will work in cashpoint is the worst idea I’ve heard. You can’t just come and tell.. be a cashless society just because it works for me.
Jesus man! You are making a big deal out of nothing. There’s plenty of cash machines everywhere include within the terminal before you head out. Couple hundred euros in your pocket before you landed would also have avoided any last minute problems. Plenty of taxis as you go out of terminal - bit of research on fares before you landed should have given you a good idea about cost between airport to Tirana central.. 🙈 Enjoy your time in Albania…
Should have used google translate or some other app to translate and showed it to him instead of asking since you do not know the language and did not speak to him long enough to know he did not know English.
Let me guess, you didn’t do your research and you came here last minute. Next time, use taxi lux, 12$ to and from the airport. You can pay them in cash, us Dollars, euros are widely accepted. I agree, Albania needs to get on the credit card train. You have no idea, it took us forever to get to even have them in restaurants and bars. The government is not forcing these mfers to hse credit cards. But the way, you’re attractive.

I say multiple times I should’ve exchanged cash but didn’t think it’d be an issue since I downloaded MULTIPLE taxi apps before leaving
Why is a terrible idea to stop at the cashpoint to get some cash. You could login to yor bank app and let them know.
