At about 3:20 Jake tunes one string and never misses a beat. Never seen anyone with this technique and élan on double bass. NOT to detract from the excellent chops of the other performers. Good stuff.

I have a cd of theirs called Continental Stomp that I'd totally forgotten about. HOLY MOLY!!! That's some HOT STUFF! I'm glad I found these videos, because I never saw them live. What a great band!!! I play swing guitar and I love playing this kind of jazz. An old girlfriend of mine called it serious fun.

You've absolutely have to see them live, as the cd's, good as they are, do not flesh out the live experience. This is one of, if not the only band that is better live than on cd. Saw them last night in Northampton, Mass, and sat there as my usual astounded pile of mush soaking in in with incredulity the combined talent on stage.

Seriously, can anyone point me to a better slap bass player than Jake who is out there recording for us all to hear..... Went to a Chicago performance the other year so I could hear him in person, and I enjoy the entire group for sure....
