In a way, the color indicates a shared trait. Detachment from humanity. Metro Man's is out of a lack of care for his superheroics, whereas Viltrumites see humans as totally beneath them.
As a Superman fan, Metro Man is one of my favorite Superman inspired( or parody, whichever you prefer) Character. But if this means anything, Megamind is the closest thing to a Superman in this movie. He may not fly or has heat vision, but he's pretty close in my opinion anyway.
probably because he's a superman clone that isn't really a villain. He's decision to retire might raise some debate, but they showed that at any point he could end Megamind at any time. Yet he decided that both he and Megamind needed to move forward in their life.
I mean Megamind tried to set Hal on the right path by training him to be a better hero but it was all for naught as Hal knew what he could do with his new powers and it got to his head.
Still one of the best quotes that explains Hal’s ruin, when he started to loose: “I made you a hero, you did all the fool thing by yourself” Hal constantly remind to himself that he’s the one! That one truly amazing human being, that for some reason gets less then he deserves. He’s so in his fantasy that when Roxane gets kidnapped, he didn’t even notices it. He never tried to put an effort, he’s only pretends that there is one, and when he tells Megamind that they way that Megamind fooled him in believing that being hero instantly get him all he desire, he instantly getting told, that all Hal had to do is to be an actual hero, but Hal was enraged by the fact that the fact that he had no success in getting what he wanted was actually always his fault.
The trailer shows an alien kid trying to fit in at his school for supers. Several orphaned children appear to be arriving to earth planet from outer space. A force of calamity seems to be destroying countless planets, and earth may be next. Alien kid has to team up with Music Man to find the one person with the key to saving the galaxy. The title of the movie: Metrocity
When Megamind was dating Roxanne backfired because he was exposed for a liar, I think what happened is Megamind went back to what he knew worked since something new (dating Roxanne and being a good guy) didn't work, and as its natural, when we're hurt but something new we try we fall back to what we know. Edit: same thing happened to Hal/Titan; he tried to be good but when Roxanne rejected him he fell back to his scumy ways
I think the one advantage Despicable Me had that I can easily think of was the vibrancy of the lighting and colour pallet, which helped it look better in trailers and posters. Seriously, as mediocre as most Illumination movies are, that one thing always stands out to me. Megamind looked good, but comparatively the colours were a bit washed out.
@@daraghokane4236 Megamind was already woke, with a racially diverse protagonist, a strong female deuteragonist, a disabled sidekick who needs Megamind's inventions to even move and a white cishet male as the main villain. Smh these "woke" movies Wait a second, this isn't twitter

The issue is DreamWorks does not know how to put out their movies. They put out better films than other people at times but because they put it out at the same time and thus a lower quality film does better than Prince of Egypt for example.
Another difference between Syndrome and Tighten is that Syndrome gave himself superpowers. He was talented at making inventions even as a kid, and capitalized on this by making stuff that could even the odds with more powerful people. He even ended up selling these inventions to become rich. Hal, however, didn’t really seem to have something he was talented at, and never felt fulfilled in his job. The only reason he ends up becoming Tighten is because Megamind gave him the powers. I highly doubt Hal would’ve been able to gain these powers on his own, and the only reason he even got them was because of luck. They do however both share a lack of experience and sort of confidence. Syndrome has been making inventions for years, and he’s even managed to kill many supers. Except, he hasn’t. The omnidroid has. The omnidroid was the one that killed all those supers, all Syndrome did was upgrade it and reprogram it to be better. He didn’t personally go out there and fight them, he had the robot do it for him. Hal is similar to this in that he doesn’t really have to struggle in the beginning after he gets his powers. Sure he gets trained by Megamind, but he doesn’t really seem to have trouble with it. Even after that, we don’t really see him fighting dangerous criminals on his level or anything like that. All he does is terrorize people weaker than him who can’t put up as much of a fight as other supers can. The only person in the city who can really stand up to him other than Metroman is Megamind, and even then, he does struggle at first. When things don’t start to go their way, they both flounder. When the omnidroid starts to fight back and Syndrome loses control of it, he panics. This is his first time really fighting without someone doing it for him or it being staged. He isn’t prepared for defeating it without the remote. Hal does this too when he thinks Metroman showed up. He isn’t prepared for someone ‘his own size’ to fight back, and he immediately runs away when Metroman starts to chase after him instead of even attempting fighting back. They both don’t have the experience or confidence to take on opponents stronger or even similar in power to them. This is where the protagonists succeed and they fail.
That whole presentation scene is, I don't have appropriate words. It's the closest thing I've ever seen to the perfect dramatic entrance. Think about it. Set the humor aside for a moment, give into the drama a little and look at it. First, let's talk about the preceding scenes. The threat is unstoppable. The only power capable of matching it has benched itself, but it points toward another hope. Who refuses it. And walks away. We then enter the darkest hour. The threat has taken the best and most hopeful character in the entire story, and now, even they begin to feel despair. And abandonment. But just before, we got one last promise of hope. So for the whole scene, on top of the despair, on top of the hopelessness, we feel a constantly building sense of frustration! And anticipation. We were right to. Thunder booms, and the unstoppable threat turns to find that, without him even noticing (!), the SKY has been BLOTTED OUT! And this unstoppable, invincible, fallen angel of wrath, floats before a dark storm of lightning and thunder that seemingly fills the whole world. And looks small. Then a voice, filling the air from every direction at once like an enraged GOD! "YOU DARE TO CHALLENGE MEGAMIND!" "this town isn't big enough for two supervillains." And as the visage of the Megamind emerges from the storm, to personally belittle and rain humiliation upon this upstart ant who has managed to offend him, we cut to her. I want to really emphasize this moment. This whole movie, people have looked upon this man with scorn. The only thing he has needed to do to sour the mood, to spread fear and panic, to bring children to tears, is appear. And now, he has appeared again. Grander and greater then ever before. And we turn to look upon the person he might have hurt worst of all. And what do we see? We see hope. We see hope! THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is presentation. I could say more, but I'm gonna cut it here. I hope I got my point across.
9:52 well yeah but I also love that you can actually hear what they say it kinda means the same thing, they say pretty well if you listen: "you're destined for greatness" the reason that still works is because we still don't know what that means, greatness for destruction? peace? creating muffins? what greatness? that line still serves that "greatness" is defined by what you choose to do not what some else decides for you. It headcanon, I'd think that megaminds people are kind like us just happen to be more intellgient and just like us, in fan storyline I'd write his father and Mother to experince that varition of life, his father having same issue megamind had intelly having a destiny he was trying to achieve based on what his parent's told him then losing it, compared to his wife who never understood her destiny until realised the message. which would then lead to wanting to teach that to their child however due the event they could only say on line to show this to their little megamind, "you're are destined-for greatness".
To be fair, she does have to get to know Hal. He's her camera man and she's a journalist. He's right there half the time. Every time you're reporting on a supervillain, and you get caught in an explosion and Metroman has to rescue you, he is also caught in the explosion from being 6 feet away from you. You probably should get to know that guy

I think with the opening of megaman almost landing in the rich family but Metro man's rocket pushing him out of the way. Means in the alt universe were he did land there he would be the city's hero
@@lukeroberson2115 I think this films universe has the law the hero wins, that was a actually rule in the 1960 DC the comics code said evil must lose or if they win be punished. So because Megamind is bad he has to lose. And megamind said that to titan at the end good guys win and he won. So if Megaind was the hero he would win. Silver age superman didn't beat lex because is stupid inconsistant power set he won because of that universal rule of good guy wins
They probably thought Megamind could easily destroy an army, since he "killed" Metroman (who people saw as basically invincible). I imagine that if the people of Metrocity had Dragon Ball Z, they would think that what Nappa did to that army while Vegeta and the Z Fighters were waiting for Goku, Megamind could do to their army
Megamind 2 turned the first movie's character quirk of not knowing how to pronounce certain word's due to being a social outcast into HaHA MegaminD DuMB :)
If i were to ever be able to make a mega mind movie, i would make revolve around metro man learning both his and mega's parent's are still alive. They travel with metro to the twin planets only for the reveal to be metro's entire race are just literal narcissist's who feel entitled to anything because there strong, wrapping back around for the nature vs nurture argument. While mega mind learns the backstory and maybe learns metro's parent's enslaved his race for there intelligence, making mega question metro man and whether he is just using him. Conflicts happen and titan dude gets a redemption arc, and maybe death, and metro man, stops his parent's, acting like a true genuine hero for the first ever time and putting his life on the line for the greater good. and freeing mega minds people. And bam, done
Someone may have commented on this already, but Shaf's video also covers the terrible spin-off series, so the actual movie portion of the review is about an hour - 40 minutes if I recall correctly.
both metroman and tighten are character arcs of having incredible, yet completely unearned power. and all 3 are character arcs of being selfish. metroman was simply born amazing, faced burnout from the responsibility of it, and gave up his calling/power to pursue his happiness. while tighten was given power for free, and exploited it selfishly. meanwhile megamind is someone who had to work his ass off every step of the way, and became bitter when he wasnt afforded the accolades of others despite his hard work. but learned that just hard work isnt enough, you need to point that hard work towards some level of responsibility and earn the accolades.
Okay I can see this happening later, who wants to see if this'll happen later? No guarantee, nux is chaotic as hell and does what he wants. But... "I love you boss!" Nux: "and I love you, random egg boy."
I mean there is the short that came in box with the original movie that was pretty good called "Megamind And The Button of Doom". It's about 10-15min and about what he was going to do with all his old evil inventions now that he's trying to be the good guy. worth a watch if you can find it somewhere on the internet
1. Megamind is a masterpiece. Nuff said 2. What I love about Metroman in this movie is that its left up to the audience to decide whether he was in the wrong or not. On one hand, yeah, faking his death and leaving Metro City to fend for itself was horrible. But on the other hand, he had a point. He never got to pick what *he* wanted to be and nobody had the right to ask him to be a superhero and dedicate his entire existence to people he doesn't even know. Also you could make the argument that, after fighting him for *years* Metroman figured Megamind wasn't actually an evil guy , just someone who wanted to be loved and who had the capacity to be good if given the right push. I also love that he is *horrible* at being a musician. Yeah, its played for laughs, but ,think about it, its something he's *not* good at, unlike literally everything else in his life. Its something he can actually learn, struggle with and find fullfillment in through actually *earning* his skill. 3. Hal was hillarious. Seeing this absolute # niceguy-esque dumbarse have all the power of an alien demigod is *brilliant* . Unironically a villain that was ahead of his time. 4. I love the way Megamind and Roxanne's relationship develops. She doesn't forgive him or reconcile with him after learning who he is. It takes a while for the wounds to heal and for her to accept that he really *did* become a better person for and because of *her* . 5. Us and Megamind not knowing what his parents said is a pretty good summation of the movie's theme. You're free to think it was all destiny and that megamind was meant for greatness or that Megamind's own free will determined his greatness. Both are *completely* valid. And I like that we never get a clear answer.
Theres also the question of what "greatness" would mean to his parents? Were they villains or not? Was he destined to be the villain but made himself the hero through his deeds, or was the always supposed to be the hero but fell into villainy through society. That is the question.
on topic for movies from dreamworks that tackle real world emotional realism. Big hero 6 did an amazing job accurately portraying depression and the related emotions and how they actually took the time to research into it. the other part it did well was find purpose and hope in a time of crisis and trauma.

Wait, my favorite vtuber is reacting to my favorite film reviewer?! Hell yeah!
S A M E
truly the greatest movie of all time
thank god they didn't make a sequel
@@BruhMeme85Yep! Exactly!
@marieporter9488 and thank God that sequel that doesn't exist doesn't also have a shitty tie-in TV show
9:18 You say that as a joke, but now that I think about it, he does have the same color scheme as the Viltrum Empire....
In a way, the color indicates a shared trait. Detachment from humanity. Metro Man's is out of a lack of care for his superheroics, whereas Viltrumites see humans as totally beneath them.
absolute power didn't need to do much corrupting, I feel like absolute power just watched confused as the guy just spiraled all by himself.
There is no Megamind: The Doom Syndicate in Ba Sing Se.
I don't think power corrupts. I think it just brings out what was already there.
I mean Megamind tried to set Hal on the right path by training him to be a better hero but it was all for naught as Hal knew what he could do with his new powers and it got to his head.
Abraham Lincoln had a quote about that.
Similar to how I've come to see social media. I used to think it made people crazy, but now I believe it simply helps bring out the worst in them.
As Abraham Lincoln once said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
Still one of the best quotes that explains Hal’s ruin, when he started to loose: “I made you a hero, you did all the fool thing by yourself”
Hal constantly remind to himself that he’s the one!
Ha.
Despicable Me wouldn’t have been a hit without the minions and the subsequent onslaught of memes all of our parents over share in facebook.
Despicable Me had no business becoming a franchise it’s not even that good it’s so overrated and you’re right it’s because of those damn minions
The first movie barely had much minion overdose besides the supermarket scene
Megamind looked good, but comparatively the colours were a bit washed out.
the first 5 mintues of the megamind 2 I was like wtf is this
At least it wasn't woke
@@daraghokane4236 Megamind was already woke, with a racially diverse protagonist, a strong female deuteragonist, a disabled sidekick who needs Megamind's inventions to even move and a white cishet male as the main villain. Smh these "woke" movies
Wait a second, this isn't twitter
I remember back in the original trailer for Megamind on other DVDs and such, it actually says that Megamind is destined for greatness
Another good video on megamind to watch is the nice guy vs good guy comparison~
Wait megamind 2 oh you mean button of doom yeah that’s good. Doom syndicate what’s that, that doesn’t exist!
Omg, Nux and Schaffrillas in one video? Too good to be true. Collab when?
I remember watching Megamind when I was 10 or something, having forgot most of the story and all names I still remembered the blue, giant-headed villain who won at the end
This is the 1st schaffrillas video I watched and also what got me to subscribe to his channel
Along with Spiderverse and Iron Man, Megamind is a Top 3 Superhero movie for me.
Anything with Guardians of the Galaxy is scifi.
The issue is DreamWorks does not know how to put out their movies. They put out better films than other people at times but because they put it out at the same time and thus a lower quality film does better than Prince of Egypt for example.
Nux and Schaff have the same braincells and its really good, or you know he just prewatched it
Nux should react to 'Who is the best NPC competitivly?' By Flase Swipe Gaming. Its one of the funniest videos ive seen in a long time
Another difference between Syndrome and Tighten is that Syndrome gave himself superpowers.
This is where the protagonists succeed and they fail.
another good video about Megamind is Cinema Therapy's "good vs nice"
"YOU DARE TO CHALLENGE MEGAMIND!"
"this town isn't big enough for two supervillains."
And as the visage of the Megamind emerges from the storm, to personally belittle and rain humiliation upon this upstart ant who has managed to offend him, we cut to her.
You know a show is good when you want to see more.
Though more isn't always good evidently
I think what nux means is personally get to know your co workers. Sure you can have a good business relationship but your co worker doesn’t have to be your friend let alone give you a chance romantically.
@@AnuUprety-w7e Yes, but if she got to know him A) he would realize he doesn't actually like her
B) She'd tell him she doesn't like him and he can move on
C) maybe it actually works
all 3 solve the problem.
You don't hold on to a post it note with a thank you on it if you are friends or coworkers. You do that for someone you have up on a pedestal because you don't know each other.
Except for the fact that he's a creep
@@YoelSchwarz She didn't know he was a creep until he had super powers. So she REALLY never got to know him.
@acrab6527 he was a creep before he got his powers. Remember when he invited him over to a party that's just the two of them?
I loved your take on Metro Man it truly deepens the character for when i watch the movie again.
Mega mind was one of the few movies that actually had a real girl boss not an accessory like most movies but an actual woman a person that got to girly and tough, the characters in the story are well written and it is a good story!
Schafrillas is basically Nuxanor that is into Theatricals
Yay! My favorite RUclipsr reacting to one of my favorite analysis videos!
I have a recommendation of a movie: Hardcore Henry, although it is Rated M, most of it's comedy and action is a complete creative masterpiece!(despite the reviews)
Why've I never heard of it? 😮
Megamind's redemption arc is right up there with Zuko, Vegeta, Theon, Thorfinn, Vader.
SCHAFF REACTION?????? 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Also yeah, much like Rango, Megamind is a masterpiece that is both a parody of a genre while also a very honest story playing with the tropes of that genre in the most genuine way possible ❤
If you want the real sequel, check NEW MEGABOI ADVENTURES by Vo memes. Yes it's a ytp of the first movie, but this is the sequel we all deserved 😂
Solo leveling season 2 has already been renewed and is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. So not very long.
I love the metro man arc. He has the same ending as Russian Superman from red son.
21:00 Hal is the definition of those 1% of guys on Tinder, who are so LOUD and cry so much that they look like 50% of tinder users lmao
If only those "nice guys" learned to be actual GOOD guys and don't act like aholes, their romantic lives would finally start to happen.
Talking about dreamworks, i cant believe trollhunters doesnt get the attention it diserves man, is a great show by guillermo del toro and i think it would blow your mind how good it is for the time
The reaction to Shaffrillas' review on Megamind 2 is gonna be hilarious. 😆
I think with the opening of megaman almost landing in the rich family but Metro man's rocket pushing him out of the way. Means in the alt universe were he did land there he would be the city's hero
Nah. Because that would mean Metro Man landed at the prison, and we see that he easily folds Megamind.
To be fair, he didn't think of becoming a villain until he got bullied in school, and I don't think the different upbringings could have changed that
I unironically answer my phone saying "Ollo"
Oh cool! Wasn’t expecting Nux to react to Schaff! He’s my favorite reviewer, and his videos are so entertaining and well made. Hope he sees more.
Oh hell yeah! Nuxanor watching Schaffrillis. Fantastic.
Went to see mega mind at a school trip and we some how convinced them to let us watch saw (can't remember which one) instead
I am wondering why the military didn't go after megamind after he killed metroman. nobody thought to give the government a call.
I just want it on record that I went to see Megamind at least 3-4 times when it came out in theaters. That's right, even back then I knew.
Thinking about it, i feel like megamind has a similar quality as the iron giant. Underrated yet truly exceptional.
23:26
That’s the fun part about being depressed! You ALWAYS blame yourself! 😂
Someone may have commented on this already, but Shaf's video also covers the terrible spin-off series, so the actual movie portion of the review is about an hour - 40 minutes if I recall correctly.
Hal predicted the Future. There *is* no Queen of England anymore
both metroman and tighten are character arcs of having incredible, yet completely unearned power. and all 3 are character arcs of being selfish.
metroman was simply born amazing, faced burnout from the responsibility of it, and gave up his calling/power to pursue his happiness.
while tighten was given power for free, and exploited it selfishly.
meanwhile megamind is someone who had to work his ass off every step of the way, and became bitter when he wasnt afforded the accolades of others despite his hard work. but learned that just hard work isnt enough, you need to point that hard work towards some level of responsibility and earn the accolades.
Never thought i would see you reacting to a schaffrillas production video!! Please do react to the megamind 2 video, it's a lot of fun!
Okay I can see this happening later, who wants to see if this'll happen later? No guarantee, nux is chaotic as hell and does what he wants. But... "I love you boss!" Nux: "and I love you, random egg boy."
More SchaffrillasProductions please
Nux watching a Schafrillas video?! LETS GOOO!
Nuff said
Wow! What a great movie! I sure hope corporate greed doesn’t ruin its legacy almost 15 years later or something! That would suck!
It is funny, that there's a man who was a president that feels the same damn way.
Animation peaked in 2012 And it started with this in 2010
god i’ve never been so excited
Just gonna put this out there. I would love a Deadpool 1 and 2 analysis like this.
Nux didn't cut or skip the sponsor mention at the start.... quite intriguing
can't wait to see nux's impression of DEHYDRATION GUN.
Say what you want, metroman is clearly just Markiplier in a skin tight suit XD
"I am a *bad guy* but that does not mean I am a *bad* guy."
One of my favorite markiplier cameos ever
Okay but the Sir PentNux voice saying "presentation" made me think Megamind and Sir Pentious should collab
If you can, could you please react to Schaffrillas’ ranking of Wes Anderson movies sometime?
I need to rewatch Megamind. I haven't watched it since release or if it was on in the background.
real hyped for your reaction to Tomatoa's review of Megamind 2. He has the biggest mental breakdown by far!
on topic for movies from dreamworks that tackle real world emotional realism. Big hero 6 did an amazing job accurately portraying depression and the related emotions and how they actually took the time to research into it. the other part it did well was find purpose and hope in a time of crisis and trauma.
11:03 as youtuber high boi said in his summary of the movie: so he goes "guess I'm evil now" and makes mustard gas *music starts playing*
Please watch his megamind 2 video it is so funny and he put himself through a lot for that video, you won't regret it.
