I never had any luck with acrylic or powder fill for granite cracks. The repair will look nice and beautifulfor a few days, but after a short while water, soap etc naturally wear the wax, and acrylic coating away leaving you with the problem to quickly come back. How long does any wax last on a countertop? There goes the luster, and the crack shows again.
uneven pressure on grinder results in crescents polished into surface. main pressure should be DIRECTLY over the rotation point of the pad to ensure even pressure to the entire face of the pad.
Agreed! I reckon CRack mark will show up and the top will become sticky or greasy later on. we only use wax in marble...never in granite. we use sealer though. But great job!
I had a supposedly new granite countertop installed and it I can see chips in it also where the seams are for the undermount sink is the is a big blank spot on the seam with no color. Is there a sheet of color or something layed on top of the granite? Ithink it is a second countertop - I cannot seem to get the installer to come back and repair what do it do and are chips common?
I can still see the crack! I can see repairing scratches that way, but not a crack. Scratch is on the surface, a crack goes through the stone. And in the beginning of your video you said it was a crack. What are you using between the crack to insure the piece does not fall off down the road?
I still saw the crack because it was still there, you need to fill the crack first with an adhesive epoxy or a more liquid that I put on the crack then a spray hardener. Then use a razor scrape excess off then polish it starting 100 grit up to buff keep buffer flat and back and forth motion that's the key flat back and forth
Have you noticed the surface of the stone , there is no way to mach the factory polish using this technique, the repaired stone could have a blotchy and slightly uneven surface and i would never get away with it. But if the client likes it good job .Job done
Ya I have to agree with the others. Though they accepted it you should strive for perfect nothing less. I do however like to see people in the industry trying as its ten times better than all the hack shops we have around my place. Its pretty bad that our shop is the only company in my province that is able to do proper surface polishing. Try twist touch turbos by alpha and finish with alpha ceramica. Also check out stoneadvicedotcom/forum as they have great dudes there that will help u learn
im suprised u go till 3000 grid only . i use 5000 -10000 grid . and i dont use any wax or any other ,,chemical shine,, is all about stone being wet polished . but hey if they like it then u win.
But that said you should always give a disclaimer in writting before for doing this for a customer. there is no proven 100% procedure. Practice makes perfect! My theory is if you sand and refill to many times you are wasting time and money. Customer saticfaction is what we strive for. off the wall Idea that I have use d and it works is a sharp then superglue and a razor blade up on edge using it like a cabinet scraper. Planes it down perfect. Make sure and keep a nice sharp blade.
if you sand to one billion grit you are removing material from a level surface, once that material is removed no matter your technique unless you refinish the entire top there is no way to make it look flawless to a professional.
Great video. I am wondering if the same process could be used to butt join granite tile and hide the line between the tiles....
Sorry for the delay to respond. This video is to help people who have crack in a granite countertop.

That is pretty dam good, well done
How does not wearing shoes help with the repair ?
what did you use to fill the crack with? Or did you simply polish the crack out completely?
He said he used an acrylic fill with tint

Very nice job. DryFlex pads by Diamax are the best dry pads for face polishing i have found.

hi
Real polishers don't use wax !!!
