As someone who had a baby before marriage….I get what Tony is saying. We were engaged and slipped up but our baby was “planned” in the sense that we were prepping with finances, getting off birth control etc. and we still put the cart before the horse because the only way to truly plan is to not have sex before marriage and we both wish we would’ve waited. We ended up not getting married but we co-parent well. We love each other dearly, work together great for our child and our families get along great. My sister did it “right” - got married, got pregnant on their month long honeymoon out the country. We thought it was beautiful! They got divorced when the baby was still a toddler. They can’t stand each other, families don’t talk at all and co-parenting is almost non-existent. I say that to say, the only right way is to have God at the center and follow his word. People can tell you what to and what not to do to make it work but the only promise is Gods word. I am in a season in my late 20s where I am just now understanding and FEELING fearful of God and that is pushing me constantly to feel convicted to confess, repent and MAKE MY ACTIONS MATCH MY WORDS. So the term God-fearing hits so much different now.
As a woman who's had 1 child out of wedlock & 1 was born within marriage. This "ugly trend" took shape in my Gen X era. Unfortunately, I saw many families break up, church leadership stopped stepping in to counsel or M promote marriage (80s-90s). Many people chose the wrong partners the wrong way and ended up alone raising children. I briefly married my 1st child's father for the simple reason of traditional values. It lasted 3months because he proved he wasn't mature. My youngest child I chose not to marry his father because I made a bad choice in whom I procreate with. Now, ironically, both of my sons are married & living under God's covenant of marriage.
This is so true; people don’t understand that God loves a healthy family unit .
