It's commendable that Ron and other car collectors take the time to share their cars with the general public. I had never heard about a Stout Scarab, fun and strange little car.

It's basically an airplane that died and was reincarnated as a car. You can see it in the ribbed split window, the long body, the way the doors work, the tubular frame steel frame with the panels wrapped around it, and the airtight sealing. Did I mention that the aerodynamic styling is also a dead giveaway?

I noticed it has a South Wind gasoline heater hanging under the dash. That thing burned gasoline by tapping into the intake manifold below the carb. It was on or off. 'On' soon made the rubber floor mat get hot and start smoking. Turning it off was the answer! It severely reduced MPG! but was instant on and really poured out the heat which was great in frigid central PA!

When I was about 6 years old my dad picked up a 58 ford 2 dr. Wagon he drove for a short time. While he had it I thought it was about the coolest car in the whole world. I have been a station wagon fan ever since. My favorite was my 55 Chevy 2 dr. wagon.
In my area from time to time in summers I see a Plymouth GTX station wagon. I didn’t think they made anything like that.

The Stout Scarab is a neat looking car. I would say that it definitely would be considered futuristic looking for that time. Also I was tripping on fact that the V12 engine in the Lincoln produced only 110 hp, when today most V12's produce well over 500 hp plus. I'm sure back then they thought that was state of the art. Even though, they are all awsome looking cars.

IKR, lol a V12 with 2.7 liter and 110hp sounds ridiculous

Wow close to 6yr after this video was uploaded and I've never seen this vehicle EVER. Sure is gorgeous compared to the average ugly minivan one sees on the roads. The interior sure is nice and that engine for the size delivers good power and acceleration. Nice find!

One of my favorite features is the dashboard. I LOVE the way the gauges look.

Maybe I'll build me a copy of one of these someday. And build copies of Scarabs for anyone who wants them. *Insert smug SpongeBob face*

It was a great car to drive in L.A. Noire, I loved to do the touchy drift-turns etc.
