Right click, properties, sharing, share the folder. Permissions tab, add principal, everyone, grant all permissions. Open group policy tool, grant passwordless logins, allow guest account. Find where the UI has moved for enabling network discovery. Open Stack Overflow, search how to share a folder...
Note: do not use the "new sharing experience" as it is purely decorative.

Whoever wrote the script for this video must have been born after 1995. Microsoft has been ignoring its customers since before the release of Windows 95. They gave copies of the the operating system to beta testers nearly a year before releasing it, asking for feedback on features and bugs. Over 500 problems were reported, but when the product was shipped, NOT ONE of the problems had been fixed. The problems were the inspiration for the book "Windows Annoyances" by David A. Karp, who was one of the testers.

OH shit I didn't realize Microsoft recently got called into congress to speak on them causing e-waste debacle. Well maybe Windows 11 may get manageable, as long as they release a version of windows 11 that has, NO AI, No telemetry, easy access to activate a Local Account, and restore backwards compatibility with 32bit and 64bit software from the Windows XP and Vista era, restore Notepad properly, remove ads, remove Recall completely, have bitlocker turned off by default, fix bluetooth so a separate app isn't needed, and maybe do what LInux does, add drivers on the kernel level rather than via a software patch. (This would require more rigorous testing before releasing an update), reduce the amount of cosmetic updates, make updates run so it doesn't affect your workflow, and return the start menu to the left corner of the taskbar and not have that dumb floating menu. If Microsoft wants to reshape windows, return some legacy functions we all know and then add new features under the hood. The windows kernel needs a major rewrite on how it does things.

You left out them continuing to support desktop Outlook rather than pushing everybody to their less functional, more intrusive, always connected web based version. They won't of course.
The whole point of Windows is to be constantly harvesting information that they can monetize. That's what the CEO needs to keep the shareholders happy. He assuming the user community is a captive audience that can be ignored or even abused. You don't own your machine, you will buy new equipment (not just PCs, they play the same "security" game with printers) when they want you to, you don't own your software, you don't have any right to expect your emails, spreadsheets, documents, etc. to be confidential. They already sell data on you to over 800 other firms that see you as targets.

    • @TPaine1776

32-bit support isn't getting better. WinXP compatibility mode is the best it's going to get. To make you even happier- 32 bit support will have to end. One of the good things about win 11 is that the codebase is fully 64 bit, but they will have to drop 32 bit support at some point if they are going to get ahead. At some point you'll have to buy a legacy PC, quarantine it from the net, and run your legacy software on it.

    • @hyperspace32

Linux is everything Windows should be. Despite making it as lean as possible, Windows 11 often took 45 seconds to open an app. Frequently it would crash.
In the same time Linux can boot up, open the program and shut down. No AI, my data is mine. It took 15 minutes to install Linux.

It took up to 30 seconds for an autostart program to start, after desktop was loaded. Turned out Windows 11 delayed the execution of autostart programs on my laptop and some registry entry fixed it (asked Grok). Now zero delay.

There is nothing to fix in windows. It is not a good product with bugs, it is a bad product with inherent security concerns by design. That is like saying you are going to "fix" a cupcake recipe by removing the sugar. AI, pushed ads, and imbedded surveillance is what is killing Windows, and Microsoft is committed to shoving these undesired features down our throats.
AI is making the tech sector incredibly stupid. Luckily, Windows is not the only (or the best) game in town.

@DerEchteAndrejI don't do anything out of the ordinary. All my apps run fine thankfully but like I said my taskbar and start button freeze sometimes and are unresponsive. Sometimes its only once or twice a week. But last week it froze three or four times in one day even though I kept restarting to try and fix it. It's glitchy. Glad you aren't having this issue. My wife has Windows11 on her laptop and hasn't had this issue either. I guess I have bad luck.

      Reinstall Windows 10 then!

    • @toad1971
      @toad1971 Month ago

@Foebane72I have some older apps installed like Photoshop CS6. I had them installed on my Windows 10 machine and did an upgrade to 11 due to the "end of life" pressure. If I do a clean install of Wimdows 10 then I have to reinstall apps and my Photoshop won't reinstall because the online authentication side on Adobe won't work anymore. So I'm stuck on 11. Otherwise I have to subscribe to Adobe for the new PS and pay a monthly sub fee and I'm not doing that. How about MS just get off their ass and fix the bugs in Windows 11? I put my trust in MS and upgraded to 11 because they stopped support on Win 10 - meaning I was coerced to do it. They should fix their shitty OS that I didn't want in the first place but was coerced into.

  • @gcm5678sdu

Microsoft doesn’t care. They want us to have to bow down every time we sign in. They want to sell us monthly subscriptions to software and storage. I don’t want their AI, I don’t want their cloud, I don’t want to have to be on line to use my computer. I don’t want to sign in. We might as well be going back to a mainframe. One super computer in Seattle and all of us little peons with a remote workstation. Much of my software requires windows, but maybe Linux and new software are the wave of the future.

The whole dynamic is like how Hollywood tries to push their self righteous agenda on the public.
And just like Windows users, they reject it.

I refused and finally went full Linux with Mint Cinnamon. I’ve been able to install do everything through the GUI, that is graphic user interface, kind of windows with mouse operation and not needing to go to the command line of Linux, or shell. Forums have been very helpful though have to look hard for the answers that stick to the GUI rather than pushing the command line. I can use the command line but feel I cannot recommend until everything necessary can be done through the “windows” or GUI, which today is possible. Though I don’t video edit and have heard some have had difficulty there.

The only good windows version were xp and 7 all the other ones were a pile of garbage. The other downside of windows is requiring users to use outlook in order to use the dammmm computer instead of having a local account. The other issue is forcing users to have a subscription in order to use office instead of paying for it up front. Another big issue is having Copilot spying on everything taking screenshots of everything the user does especially sensitive sensitive financial and personal data without high tier encryption. That’s why I’ve personally ditched windows in favor of MacOS, less headaches and more privacy.

Actually Microsoft has had a pattern since at least Windows 3.11 - every other release is garbage. 3.11 was the first version that almost worked, 95 was a mess, 98 was OK, ME was a disaster. Windows 2000 (NT) spawned XP, followed by Vista (so bad Apple made a series of commercials about it), Windows 7 was solid, 8.0 and 8.1 were Vista on steroids (so bad that there was no 9), Windows 10 had a rocky start but settled into a decent groove. And now Windows 11 is dog do - who is surprised?

Total waste of time... You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd. Windows is done! Linux is the answer.
