  • The Koch brothers have their name on a lot of things in Wichita, home of Koch Industries - a zoo exhibit, a YMCA, a basketball arena. But even in a city they've given millions to, there are skeptics.

This piece says that Koch employs only 1% of Wichita's population. Then that woman said that her daughter thinks that her only employment opportunity is to work for Koch. So then 99% of Wichita is unemployed? Ridiculous!

Wichitians are proud to be the Air Capital of the World, having Stearman, Beech, Cessna, Lear form here, and also having large plants for Boeing build everything from B29 to B52, and Airliners also. Oh and the home to Coleman (camp gear), and Pizza Hut also started here. Yes Koch is here, and yes Koch sponsors such things as Americans for Prosperity, and donates huge sums to the GOP, but not all Wichita folks are blindly loyal to Koch. Our city is quite a rich mixture of culture, beliefs, and clearly we have spawned many a extrordinary entrepreneurs thru our history.

what was the point of this video? that the kochs donate money but are shady? give us some examples? I'm largely indifferent to the family, but after watching this I learned nothing with no facts or opinions, just a couple disparaging statements. This video had no gravitas and I can't believe someone wasted time to come here and make such a useless piece, at least get your money's worth and make a point. And as others have said, no one calls it Kochville, haven't heard that in 40 years of living here. As someone who's traveled to 40 countries and 35 states, there's plenty to do in Wichita, and there is tons of opportunity. I don't know what that one lady's daughter wanted to do with her career, but this town is full of really awesome jobs in all kinds of industries. I've been to many of the world's largest cities, who would want to deal with the crime, the traffic, the high costs, the lack of space, etc. The wifey and I have our schedules so booked with events, dinners, adult ed classes (wine drinking!) that I don't have time to do regular chores and some of my hobbies. Sure, it isn't Tuscany or Cali Wine country, but I can get a nice 2,500sf house for less than $200k and enjoy all kinds of fun activities without worrying about a huge crowd or a line to get in to anything. long live Wichitawesome!

Well you see, the Koch brother's have an oil refinery right on the Texas shores. They import 500 THOUSAND barrels of oil a DAY from Venezuela to their plant. The Koch brother's also manufacture JET fuel. Venezuela stopped selling oil to our country, and stopped using the US dollar as trade currency. Now our government is over there "Spreading democracy". Ex secretary of state Rex Tillerson, is a major shareholder of exon gas, partnered with shell, a Petroleum based company in the UK. The UK have Venezuelas gold reserve. BOTH companies, exon and shell, make gas, refined from Venezuela oil. Oil that Maduro stopped selling to our country, because we sanctioned them very heavily for "Overcharging" oil, causing the Koch brother's to lose money. Well the Koch brother's make jet fuel. Who in this country needs jet fuel?? You guessed it. Our military. Now we're in Venezuela. Fun fact, the Koch brother's donated 250 MILLION to Trumps 2020 campaign. Why? Because trump is going to get their oil back, from Venezuela. Pay attention to how many people die there. "Rebels", aka, civilians doing everyday jobs, just like you and I.
