Can’t wait for the mackerel to arrive,,, I start bleeding the mackerel lately and leave it for a day in the fridge before eating it ,, it tastes different,,
Cheers for put this post up me and my son fished ss pier yesterday got some mackerel on the end then some at the first gate then remembered you spinning off the beach so we done that and caught a couple their which was fun again thanks a lot m8y
I like the fact you dispatched the injured one, mackerel usually don't make it after being handled anyway, we usually take 4 or 5 but some people take 20-30 plus which is far to many and they won't get eaten, such a waste and ruins it for everyone else!!!
some good catches there Gary ,and as well some good filming ,it takes a lot to actually film and edit its a pain at times im newish to having my own you tube channel its quite diverse though i havent put any of me fishing yet which ive just started i love watching your skills id never starve with you as a m8 lol take care good hunting .Ant from Wales .
Great video!!!! - Get Rid Of All the Bones with A light 'V' Cut, right Down The Full Length of the Lateral Line, On The Inside of the Fillet. Don't Cut Right Through, and Just lift All The Bones out..... Tight Lines!!!!
One mackrel are in, are they able to get caught from the beach straight away or does it take awhile longer for them to come in this close?. Caught over 50 up amble on Saturday
Garry just a short question is there enough water on that beach you were fishing off at low water 5.1m tide same question for the first gate on ss pier pls
Ah right im not sure i don't normally fish the tide out from either the beach or the first gate. If i had to pic tho I would fish the tide out from the beach.
Hi gary I am a first time fishing in the UK which is the best fishing rods and feathers for mackerel or do u sell fishing kit I live in Whitley bay cheers
Hi, I dont sell fishing kits sorry. If you go to the local fishing tackle shop they will be able to advise you on the best rod for your budget and usually have a good selection of mackerel feathers.
@@fishingintheukgarywood thanks for the reply can you recommend anywhere in your neck of the woods to fish with easy access as i've had both knee's replaced and long walks is not an option
No problem Steve, the first part of south shileds pier fishes well a couple of hours before and after high water just after the brigade hut upto the first gate and is close to the carpark. The walkway has been fishing well for herring at last light park at the side of the yacht club and its just round the corner. Milldam opposite the customs House fishes well for flattys at night you can park close to the water. Hebburn Riverside near the boat club is canny fishing from the corner between the boats and just along from there is the second carpark where you can fish out of your car a couple of hours before and after high water. Pans Bank in Sunderland is canny because you can park right near the water and fish out of your car. If I think of anymore places I'll let you know.
Good video cobber brings back memories when i fished Hastings beaches and old pier in my teens do you ever fish for garfish ? Good fun on light gear, good eating green bones put people off. Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Any sign of the herring. They’ve been busy as well. The Kit Kat ship on ocean road is struggling to keep up with demand. - great problem to have at the moment.
@@fishingintheukgarywood thanks I might try this type fishing for mackerel as I hate the piers and stuff this time of year rammed with people chucking rubbish all over and stuff
Nice video, but no idea how its work, just now come from sunderland Pier, Non stop spinning on makrell wiw proper Makrell stuff, 5 hour and no one fish. 😳
@@fishingintheukgarywood Have you been on th epier this last week, Im disgusted! Me and my mate took 3 black bags of rubbish off during the week, few days later (Yesterday) we went back and it was worse! We left it clean and there was at least 5 black bags of rubbish all ove! Shocking
No I haven't been on for a while not long got back from fishing in Scotland. I wish people would take there rubbish home with them its disgusting leaving that mess about.

That's a complete myth regarding them dying after being handled. Studies and tsts have been done and proved it wrong.
Class mate!

Spent a afternoon in North Berwick a few weeks ago.. Sodding seals all over the place.. Might give your neck of the woods a go.
Go for it mate plenty about around here.
Another good video mate. If your after anymore gas cartridges check out TGS in shields across the road from the builders yard 👍🏼
Thanks mate will do 👍
One mackrel are in, are they able to get caught from the beach straight away or does it take awhile longer for them to come in this close?. Caught over 50 up amble on Saturday
I usually leave it until they are fully in before I start getting them from the beach.
Garry just a short question is there enough water on that beach you were fishing off at low water 5.1m tide same question for the first gate on ss pier pls
The beach is fine to fish at low water but i think it will be to shallow at the fist gate because of the rocks at the base of the pier.
The thing is that i want to fish tomorrow morning at 0730 ish but low water isn't till 1030 ish in a 5.1m tide
Ah right im not sure i don't normally fish the tide out from either the beach or the first gate. If i had to pic tho I would fish the tide out from the beach.
When you fished the beach the other day was that from low to high yes

What’s the rod and reel thinking about using spoons and hogs off the shore
Both diawa bg. rod is bg spin902ML reel is a 3000

Thanks Nick, I havent managed to catch a garfish yet its been on my fish list for ages now but they keep managing to evade my hooks.
@@fishingintheukgarywood i used size 3 long shanked fished 10ft under float
How deep was the water? Did not know they'd come so close in
2 to 3 foot..... I think they only come that close in when the light starts to drop.
I love just off the groyn. How close to the main pier were you? The mackerel shoals are massive this year.
Roughly in the middle of the beach Phil.

What’s the make and model of your spinning rod mate I’ve just broke mine
It's a diawa bg spin 902ML
Same I need a new rod also
Great down there Gary, don't they die after been in contact with the warm hand..?.. keep them comin m8. Davey.
Some people say they do some people say they don't i was wetting my hands before taking them off the hook hoping that was helping.
Nice catch mate. Where is this amazing place??
Thanks mate. South Shields beach.
Nice chilled video, looked a great session, what leader and length were you using?
Thanks about 3 foot of amnesia.
@@fishingintheukgarywood cheers, is that to hide the braid or sacrificial in case of snags?
Its a rubbing leader for the rocks just to protect the braid.
Another great video mate do you find its best at high tide or mackerel not bothered
I don't think it matters there what tide i think its more so first and last light.
@@fishingintheukgarywood thanks I might try this type fishing for mackerel as I hate the piers and stuff this time of year rammed with people chucking rubbish all over and stuff

Can you catch mackerel through the night or is it just day time mate?

Nice video, but no idea how its work, just now come from sunderland Pier, Non stop spinning on makrell wiw proper Makrell stuff, 5 hour and no one fish. 😳
Great fishing mate just a reminder Mackerel will die after you touch them, if you can, release them by shaking them off the hook.

Arent elvers a protected species ??
The ones in the video are sand eels not elvers. Elvers are baby common eels.

Where is that my brother
Its little haven beach south shields.
No point in putting macks back if you are gonna maul them, shake them off
the big mackerel arent as nice as the smaller ones to eat
Wait till joey grows a bit first
If a man has an allotment, a few chickens and a fishing rod, he can eat well in this country of ours. Supermarkets my arse. What a joke on the public.
