Mom has ALL his 45's in MINT condition, but she still let me play them! LOL! It kills me that his man w/ one THE GREATEST voices of his era is not played or remembered more! And to top it off... what a doll! ;-) Mom met him back in the early 60's and she said he was so nice "to an old married woman!" Ha! She was 23! Love Mr. Rydell!

Check out: "Anita Kelsey - Sway (Dark City)" It was cool in that flick. Thanks for putting this together! I'm partial to the first Rydell version--what a voice! I'm glad the PD did this, but evidently it didn't turn enough profit, so they resorted to stuff like "Don't Cha". Oh well. I can only hope that really good music will win out! Thanks again!

I am originally a New Jersey boy: So here is my take: The Rydell original unlike the more recent version was much better. The latter is full of busy wallpaper. Bobby could have transcended his good original version by using a Charanga orchestra (strings and flute) from the upper west side - not far from his neighborhood - and knocked them dead. Bobby was a gifted, talent with great phrasing.
If you like 'latin music' find an LP or CD by CARERINA VALENTE and her brother SYlVIO FRANCESCO. OLE CATERINA and ARRIBA CATERINA Both originally from 1959 and featuring their 2 voices and 2 ACOUSTIC GUITARS.These are AMAZINGLY talented renditions.No gimmicks or vocal minipulations.Just their own arrangements.LESS IS MORE! I LOVE EM!
