FILM DESCRIPTION:
The life of 11-year-old Billy Elliot, a coal miner's son in Northern England, is forever changed one day when he stumbles upon a ballet class during his weekly boxing lesson. Before long, he finds himself in dance, demonstrating the kind of raw talent seldom seen by the class' exacting instructor, Mrs. Wilkinson. With a tart tongue and a never-ending stream of cigarettes in her hand, Mrs. Wilkinson's zest for teaching is revived when she sees Billy's potential.

There are times where I expected Billy’s dad to be outright, abusive or villain, like the dad in dead poets Society, or stand by me, but he turned out to be an understanding man once he let go of the stereotype and became a supportive father
Yes they called that a learning curve shame dad's don't do it in real life
@@dementednun1175 they do, you mor*on
The acting is phenomenal. The part where Billy Elliot says “I don’t see what’s wrong with it.” 🤔🙂 I feel him
Yeah
A famous football coach in Australia took his team to do a few classes with the state’s ballet company because of the strength and agility ballet takes.
The look on the dad's face when Billy refers to Wayne Sleep! 😂😂😂
Jackie's face when he realises billy is in the ballet class 😁😁
Not for lads eh?🤨 You gotta be one physically elite human being to dance at the top
Fully agree, I got the chance to meet a man that did professional ballet dancing and he looked like carved out of marble. So lean and with great muscle definition as well as skinny
You need to understand, this was the 80s and things were quite difficult, in this movie Jackie is a single parent just trying to raise his son to be strong. If you notice the older brother Tony plays the mother role quite often in this film, Tony scolds Billy like a mother would, Tony is the one seen ironing the clothes and cooking the food, he fills the traditional "mother" role in the family.
Excellent writing in my opinion and incredible acting from all.
Yeah I think people don't realise how much it takes out of you and the injuries they have from it, You have to be at the top of your physical form to be a professional ballet dancer
@@LexEllis who's the mf in your profile picture?

I LOVED THIS MOVIE! And this scene is so great! The facial expression the father makes from 1:32 to 1:35 is so great!
Just brilliant every time I watch it ❤
Sure would like to see this wonderful film again!
Just a fantastic movie. Great story, supurb acting
The dad doesn’t like to blink often.
the FOOKING BALLET
The fooking balley
My dad would have acted that way
I hated how they cut this clip short and didn’t hear Nana interrupt them and she got yelled at.
They used to say I could’ve been a professional dancer if I had the training
@@s0nyn568 “Will you shut up?!?” 😂

Dad doesn't care about ballet, but nana does.
And yet male ballet dancers spend all day everyday holding and throwing slender young women around, travelling the world and having a body in peak physical condition.

Ballet? 1:02
What’s interesting about the pronunciation of this word in the US is different from this scene, because in the UK “ballet” has an accent at the start, and in the US has an accent at the end.
Mrs Weasley?
In north this is just how it is is same if id of dont same
'Its a god damn puff game that son, now unless u want a hiding .....
Etc etc
I can here children call Billy in the background.
Wayne Sleep? 2:24
Aye 👍
Before Molly married Arthur and became a Weasley
Arthur: Ballet? What an interesting dance that muggles do.
Dad sounds like an American Republican
Jackie should stop being a Cranky Twit and support his son’s dreams
1:16 The gender theorist speaks. Nowadays Billy would be considered a transgender girl. Because REAL boys don't do ballet.
One of the things I like about this movie is how well it outlines Gendernonconformity, and highlights the similarities between modern day views on gender by progressives compared to old school traditionalists.
Horseshoe theory comes to mind, especially when you add in the increasingly severe polarisation of political beliefs in the public zeitgeist.
I feel this is what causes transgender. If dancing is only for girls, then I must be a girl. Why not stay a boy and just do what you want?
Oh, puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez! GET a GRIP!
The father is so right. Ballet is not for boys. I'd have been devastated if my son had wanted to be a ballet dancer.
That's so sad. My wee boy loves to dance.
This attitude is what causes people to be transgender imo. There is no reason a boy can't be a ballet dancer except for society's expectations. Some boys will want it bad enough to become a girl to get it.
good luck for the hsc y’all 🫡🫡🫡
