The thing about a tell is even if you know you have it, it can be hard to get rid of because it’s involuntary. And when playing with somebody for the first time they might have tells that you don’t catch. For example, maybe I shuffle my feet every time I get pocket aces, but I know about it so that shuffle isn’t as obvious as it used to be and most of the time people don’t notice until they play with me for at least a couple hours. So somebody telling you a tell they found isn’t always a “gotcha” moment but can instead be more of “hey I acknowledge that I do have that tell, I’ve been trying to work on it, good on you for noticing so fast.” kinda deal
@@chrisf84 The odds of both players hitting quads is approximately 0.00000000011673336801707477708970743159208%, or in other words, 10 Billion to 1. Furthermore, if you had quad 8s, you were blocking the majority of value holdings that your counterpart could have, including fullhouses, which would be the only hands in the calling range, on a double paired board (at least for a TAG). Slowplaying and trapping is the default play, when hitting quads. Did you get the money in on the river? Are you sure there was no 3- 4- or 5-Betting before the shove?
