The problems don't begin with the gangs in Macon, it's the lack of economic opportunities to make a living and end generation wealth in these families. I'm from Macon and I saw these problems years ago and I'm one of the many that was afforded the opportunity to go to college with positive influences that showed me and my friends a different way to make things better. I live in Atlanta now and raising a family and I'm a 27-year owner/operator of my own company. We have to learn the power of voting and controlling our own destinies in all areas starting with education and being particular who we spend our dollars with, etc...
❤ I agree with you. I just moved to Macon, from Houston, TX. While I am not sure about any 'gangs' around here, the lack of opportunities is definitely apparent. I live within a block of an apartment complex, and people are always watching us. (One woman was so desperately bold that she tried to pass my husband her phone number while I was in my backyard. He is elderly, so the predators are definitely noticing.) To top that off, transportation is also an issue for many people trying to make a living around here. I came here with the intention of starting a nonprofit organization that would help to boost the Black Community. While I do not have a huge lot with my home, I figured I would start with a community garden. I am currently looking for at least a couple of acres of land, because my original goal was to open some type of housing facility, soup kitchen, or both. I have only lived here since May though, and need to get a true feel and understanding of what Macon Citizens need the most right now ✊🏽

No, you simply have to not be apart of the criminal underworld; and in most cases that mitigates issues for productive citizens. Are there innocent bystanders sometimes or victims of botch robberies sure, but those are rare. Just stay out of the criminal element.
I live in deep south Georgia at the Florida line. I have 1 Dr. I have to see in Albany, but thank God it's only once every 3 months. Get in, get out. Albany has gotten so bad and scary. If we do have to go to Atlanta for some reason, it's actually a 2 day affair (because of distance) but we always make sure our hotel reservations are 50+ miles south of the city, but always north of Macon. I know, sounds crazy but if you live here, you know what I'm talking about..lol
😮 When I was home searching, a Brother advised me to avoid Milledgeville. Now, I need to print out a map of Georgia. Sounds like South of Macon might be 'sundown' territory. I do not wish to spend money on a property just for it to be burned to the ground 🤷🏽

I stayed at an airport hotel in Atlanta for New Years. The bed sheets were covered in cigarette burns and there was a bullet hole through a painting but it was the only hotel I could afford on such short notice.

I appreciate that you discuss in your videos whether or not people are friendly. I used to live in Jonesboro, Georgia and loved it, but I've heard the crime has gotten bad there. I want to move back to the Atlanta area. Do you know of a good alternative to Jonesboro? Everybody in the Jonesboro/ Morrow area was so friendly and down-to-earth, and I miss it.
Jonesboro/Morrow still friendly but if you want options, try Cartersville, Alpharetta, Canton, Lilburn, Chamblee, Dunwoody, Snellville, Suwanee, and Sun city if you want some real distance from Atlanta
Macon is a beautiful historic city. We have a terrible gang problem here. The solution is not easy. But to say Macon has nothing going for it is certainly misleading. The drug and alcohol problem is big and reaches across all walks of life. Many people work tirelessly to make a difference.
Macon is my home town. When we had textile plants and the tobacco company (Brown and Williams) it wasn't like that. My opinion is it's an economic problem here.
I was well aware of Macon being a problem...but on the way back from a vacation in FL the girlfriend (now wife) insisted on stopping there - first to pee, then to eat, then she wanted to look around. Pee was okay, eating was risky (being a white boy in Macon is just asking to get your food spat in), but I absolutely drew the line at looking around. No way. After we got back, I had a discussion with her about how bad Macon was. She was astonished (she's big time naïve, a country girl). I would have much rather just passed it on the interstate and never looked back.

The Kia plant is in West Point which is about two and a half ours away, and the Hyundai plant is about 3 hours away. I wouldn’t consider that in the area at all.
From west point to downtown ATL is 1:15 did the drive myself many times. Most koreans live in ATL or Auburn. Many even drive to eastern Montgomery. I lived there i would know. From my house to ATL was 2 hours and thats Elmore county
All I can say, after traveling throughout the US, every city has its good and bad areas. Locals know where to go and where not to go. Unfortunately, random visitors don't always know. Taking my Mom and Dad on driving tours of the US, they always laughed at me and said that I always found the rough area of every town. I just said that you didn't want to go the Interstate highway...you wanted the backroads...here it is.
The City Farmers Market shown is actually in Chamblee, Georgia. Chamblee, and Doraville are side by side, and sort of overlap. Some of the two story brick storefronts shown earlier in the video are actually in Norcross, I believe. Back in the mid 70's, into the 80's, much of the population in both Doraville, and Chamblee were Asian. Chamblee was known as Chambodia by the locals. With the influx of Latins, much of the Asian population moved north to the Duluth area. While there are still several Asian businesses still in the Chamblee/Doraville area, the owners have moved out. d

Ages ago, 1990 I drove thru Macon, GA on a detiur off I-75. The half mike east and the half mile north were well maintained older homes. I turned west to head back to I-75, and the were dilapidated. At that time it seemed very uneven. I visited Atlanta in 2007. I stayed north by thr fox theatre near midtown and to Virginia Highland and north to Lennox Square/ Phipps Plaza. These areas were very nice (and very expensive as well).
As a law enforcement agent for the state of Georgia very accurate list. But definitely need to look at Lagrange because for a small town they are VERY ACTIVE!
On mothers day 2020 my niece was murdered in east point. She had 5 kids. East point doesnt seem to even care.. its been 4 yrs and her murder is still unsolved

I live next door to Doraville, and have since the late 90s. I have been to some of the businesses shown, and I drive through Doraville to get to other places. I've never had one problem, but I do believe in being careful. And of course, my city has its' own robust police department that keeps our crime in check.

What?? I had no idea Milledgeville was bad. I always suggest to people considering moving to an area they aren't familiar with to ask the local police department for crime stats. If they have a Public Information Officer, they will tell you everything you need to know.

Milledgeville was once a thriving community and I was born and raised there but today it’s not what it used to be. Outside of GA COLLEGE & the Lake area, nothing else is there. Google Milledgeville shootings, Milledgeville drivebys, Milledgeville murder, Milledgeville drug bust and you’ll see page after page of various incidents. We didn't see one gang..we'll growing up in Columbus was great. And the city was beautiful. But alot of my generation and the one before, left after school. Job, military, college etc. So two generations left older people there and new people that had no ties to the land came through fort Benning military bass or just moved there. So yeah it's bad now but I can say it was great growing up there.
Gwinnet county still has solid suburban areas with plenty of business and things do nearby on a few major roads. It appears the demographics have drastically changed in 20 years. Snellville had plenty of business and things to do on 78 and 124. Duluth and Lawrenceville have plenty nearby as well.
Augusta is definitely disqusta in my opinion I lived there for 6 years and it was but agonizing there is no middle it’s either poor or old money and let me tell they’re stuck in the old days when it comes to being on behind in times I’ve met some really rude people there it does have it’s perks but much more negatives sadly

There's another city in South Atlanta called Palmetto. My Dad bought a home back in the late 80s it was beautiful at one time we still own it my Dad died and my evil brother was supposed to sell it and we were to split it between me and my brothers. But he has been renting it out to meth heads. I know this because its another one of my crazy brothers. We are white/Cherokee Indian in a all black neighborhood. When me and my kids lived there when my Dad was sick, they were the only white boys there but we didn't have any problems. We made a friend or two so we were protected. My son's basketball coach helped us out. I was behind a cop in the school zone down there and the car in front of the cop was doing a drug deal right in front of him and did nothing. The bloods and crips fought all the time. We were always scared to death of bullets coming through are windows. Crazy stuff. Lol😂

Alabama DOES have the worst prison system in the nation, but overall your facts are incorrect, and I don't believe you actually visited these places. The officer per resident ratio is sorely inadequate and that city is in South Georgia and very close to your home state of Florida which you mistakenly believe has a very low crime rate. It’s also very close to Brunswick, Ga. where Ahmaud Arbery, a young black man was gunned down by 3 white men. You focused on black gang members and either are ignorant to the fact that there are white gang members as well. Macon is a beautiful historic city. We have a terrible gang problem here. The solution is not easy. But to say Macon has nothing going for it is certainly misleading. The drug and alcohol problem is big and reaches across all walks of life. Many people work tirelessly to make a difference.
Macon is my home town. When we had textile plants and the tobacco company (Brown and Williams) it wasn't like that. My opinion is it's an economic problem here.
I was well aware of Macon being a problem...but on the way back from a vacation in FL the girlfriend (now wife) insisted on stopping there - first to pee, then to eat, then she wanted to look around. Pee was okay, eating was risky (being a white boy in Macon is just asking to get your food spat in), but I absolutely drew the line at looking around. No way. After we got back, I had a discussion with her about how bad Macon was. She was astonished (she's big time naïve, a country girl). I would have much rather just passed it on the interstate and never looked back.

The Kia plant is in West Point which is about two and a half ours away, and the Hyundai plant is about 3 hours away. I wouldn’t consider that in the area at all.
From west point to downtown ATL is 1:15 did the drive myself many times. Most koreans live in ATL or Auburn. Many even drive to eastern Montgomery. I lived there i would know. From my house to ATL was 2 hours and thats Elmore county

All I can say, after traveling throughout the US, every city has its good and bad areas. Locals know where to go and where not to go. Unfortunately, random visitors don't always know. Taking my Mom and Dad on driving tours of the US, they always laughed at me and said that I always found the rough area of every town. I just said that you didn't want to go the Interstate highway...you wanted the backroads...here it is.
The City Farmers Market shown is actually in Chamblee, Georgia. Chamblee, and Doraville are side by side, and sort of overlap. Some of the two story brick storefronts shown earlier in the video are actually in Norcross, I believe. Back in the mid 70's, into the 80's, much of the population in both Doraville, and Chamblee were Asian. Chamblee was known as Chambodia by the locals. With the influx of Latins, much of the Asian population moved north to the Duluth area. While there are still several Asian businesses still in the Chamblee/Doraville area, the owners have moved out.

Ages ago, 1990 I drove thru Macon, GA on a detiur off I-75. The half mike east and the half mile north were well maintained older homes. I turned west to head back to I-75, and the were dilapidated. At that time it seemed very uneven.
I visited Atlanta in 2007. I stayed north by thr fox theatre near midtown and to Virginia Highland and north to Lennox Square/ Phipps Plaza. These areas were very nice (and very expensive as well).

On mothers day 2020 my niece was murdered in east point. She had 5 kids. East point doesnt seem to even care.. its been 4 yrs and her murder is still unsolved

I live next door to Doraville, and have since the late 90s. I have been to some of the businesses shown, and I drive through Doraville to get to other places. I've never had one problem, but I do believe in being careful. And of course, my city has its' own robust police department that keeps our crime in check.
Although as another commenter stated, some of those businesses are actually in Chamblee and Norcross.

Milledgeville was once a thriving community and I was born and raised there but today it’s not what it used to be. Outside of GA COLLEGE & the Lake area, nothing else is there. Google Milledgeville shootings, Milledgeville drivebys, Milledgeville murder, Milledgeville drug bust and you’ll see page after page of various incidents. My brother was Murdered there in 2007 and I left shortly afterwards. I love my hometown but probably won’t return until my funeral

We didn't see one gang..we'll growing up in Columbus was great. And the city was beautiful. But alot of my generation and the one before, left after school. Job, military, college etc. So two generations left older people there and new people that had no ties to the land came through fort Benning military bass or just moved there. So yeah it's bad now but I can say it was great growing up there.

Gwinnet county still has solid suburban areas with plenty of business and things do nearby on a few major roads. It appears the demographics have drastically changed in 20 years. Snellville had plenty of business and things to do on 78 and 124. Duluth and Lawrenceville have plenty nearby as well.

There's another city in South Atlanta called Palmetto. My Dad bought a home back in the late 80s it was beautiful at one time we still own it my Dad died and my evil brother was supposed to sell it and we were to split it between me and my brothers. But he has been renting it out to meth heads. I know this because its another one of my crazy brothers. We are white/Cherokee Indian in a all black neighborhood. When me and my kids lived there when my Dad was sick, they were the only white boys there but we didn't have any problems. We made a friend or two so we were protected. My son's basketball coach helped us out. I was behind a cop in the school zone down there and the car in front of the cop was doing a drug deal right in front of him and did nothing. The bloods and crips fought all the time. We were always scared to death of bullets coming through are windows. Crazy stuff. Lol😂

Very misleading and your numbers do lie. Most of your numbers are incorrect. Some of your facts are true, but Homewood is not in Shelby county it is in Jefferson surrounded by Birmingham city limits. These murder rates are all incorrect unless you are referring to per capita. Very big difference distinction. Not the most corrupt state in the country by far. Alabama DOES have the worst prison system in the nation, but overall your facts are incorrect, and I don't believe you actually visited these places. I lived in Deerfield Beach (South Florida) where you are from and I was unable to truly enjoy the beauty of the place (which it is) because I witnessed everything you saw in Alabama there, including gunfire in daylight between rival neighborhood drug gangs in a trailer park surrounded by a nice safe area one block from the beach. If you would’ve researched the city in Georgia that has the highest crime rates overall, you’d know that it’s Baxley, Ga. The officer per resident ratio is sorely inadequate and that city is in South Georgia and very close to your home state of Florida which you mistakenly believe has a very low crime rate. It’s also very close to Brunswick, Ga. where Ahmaud Arbery, a young black man was gunned down by 3 white men. You focused on black gang members and either are ignorant to the fact that there are white gang members as well. You have The Aryan Brotherhood, The Ghostface Gangsters and believe or not, the KKK is still very active. All three of these criminal organizations are all over the entire state of Georgia. As a matter of fact, the Ghostface Gangsters were organized out of the Cobb County Jail. This is all public information and very easy to obtain. You also have criminal organizations from other countries that operate in Georgia.
