Jose, I am learning my way around my Pro 1000 and I have some slides of Monument Valley, Az that I want to attempt making some panoramic prints useing Canon roll paper. Could you advise me of a Canon roll paper to purchase?
Just got a pro 1000. Not set up yet but already thinking of cheaper inks. Do you use Precision Color 3rd party inks? And, if so, how do these inks compare to OEM inks? Are there other companies that provide OEM quality inks for the pro 1000? Thanks for your feedback.
My conclusion is forget to use 3rd part inks. I print not often and I have no intention what so ever to to use something else than oem. If it’s more expensive so be it. Last thing I missing is clogging and ruin the printer
agreed. Ive had my Pro1k for almost 2.5 yrs and only print ever so often and mine works fine. I just purchase the $700 ink pack. Fortunately my business affords me to pay for this. The printer is amazing still imo and has never clogged.
Is there any known way to mothball a Pro 1000? Or if once you install ink for the first time, if you have to stop using the printer for a time, do you just throw the entire machine away? Seems like there should be a way to power flush the inks out with distilled water or some kind of cleaner (or a combination of both).
Not sure if I understand the second part of your comment, but the answer to this question, luckily, is no! I thought the same thing when I had a problem and stopped using mine for over a year. I had all 12 new inks here but was afraid to install them, I thought the printer would not work properly anymore. It happens that this week I tried to use it again, still with the old cartridges that the printer says their ink levels are close to 0. The first two pages came out as trash, but I realized I was just misconfiguring the paper type lol (too much time without using it). And to my surprise, it still works perfectly. TLDR: I spent over a year without printing one single page in my PRO 1000, I only kept it on (except for the 28495 times that power ran out here lmao) and it still works. I also thought the cleaning cycles would be fully consuming the old cartridges, but luckily that did not happen.
@@chrishayes5755 But Mr. Gates, you have people to haul the old printers out and set them up several times a day. My back would be in even worse condition if I tried that! 😂
Okay Jose somebody just sold me a Canon Pro 1000 it's never been used it has 2017 ink cartridges what's the ink is probably no good in those cartridges so no ink is ever entered the printer yet what if I fill those cartridges up with ink owl ? I can't find any really bad information on ink owl what is your opinion honest opinion?
The ink will more than likely be absolutely fine and should present no problems whatsoever. I’ve been using expired inks in my previous Epson printers and now in this Canon and I’ve never had any problems at all, even with inks which were past their expiration date by several years. Like with all pigment inks, just be sure to shake the carts and you should be good to go.
Can you not purge the lines on the Pro 1000? I know like on the P900 you can pull them out, flush the system, then prime with ink. Yes, you have to take the printer apart but better that than buying a new one.
That may be a computer or connectivity issue rather than printer problem. Worth checking your USB cable (assuming that's how you connect to the printer) and also whether your print spooler is causing issues (eg: filled with old files, C drive is too congested). Have you tried connecting and printing from a different computer to rule that in or out?
@@cheo1949 Pro1000. Yeah they do. But if youre only printing for yourself and you have a way to create custom profiles, then non oem works for me. Will the print be faded in 2 years, 10 years or 20 years? I dont know, i dont care. I have the digital files, ill just print off a new photo. If i was selling, totally diferent story!
That's how I want to us mine. Power it up once a month or so, print a couple of prints, and then unplug it and plug it in again for the next print. This gives me hope I wont be losing all my ink to cleaning cycles.
when you say "print everyday" with the canon pro 1000, is the size of the print matters? or could it be only a small paper? Thinks.
we need answers lol

personally I dispose of the Pro 1000 after each print and replace with a fresh one.

Hi Jose, my epson 2880 has developed a fault where I can print 7x5 but when I try to print A3 it stops printing about 1/3rd the way thro.

Great advice.
If you printed the same print, how many copies do you think you could print at 18x24 on luster paper, before ink runs out?
I've been running compatible cartridges for a while now. During the changeover process, when I notice a colour shift, I would create a new profile.
Printer brand and model please???? Compatible carts suck in consistency and color output.

Still working? looking at getting one and doing the same
@@earlteigrob9211 does it work?
How long can you enumerate about a system over 6 years old. Move on, buy a NEW printer, and repeat.
All these printers are a huge scam on the public. A complete scam.
Oh common!
