Having flashbacks to the 80's. My hair was so straight that it was difficult to get it to take a perm. In my late 20's either due illness or more likely medications/low dose chemo drug, I am now a curly girl, albeit loose curls. It's pretty and I love it but it's a whole different world from what I was use to.
I did learn something Lou, I learned I don’t want to try this either. Maybe next time you can do the rag curls, which you sleep in and get the same type of curls, but without the damage.
You are very entertaining👍💖 I struggle since curls go where they want no matter what I do. Was kinda liking not having to be seen then younger generation making zoom meetings! One is never to old for a ponytail, it always saves the day😉
It was cute on you. I used to do this to my very straight, hair back in the 80’s. I’d put on a record and keep curling, and curling, and curling... I still do this to a degree, but with a much larger curling iron, so it only takes one or two songs to finish.

Curling your hair also makes your arms tired after awhile. I think loose curls would look really pretty on you . Your hair is great no matter what way you do it. I did like watching your hair transform to something we haven't seen on you before though. ❤️

Fun fact about me: I straighten my hair when long enough (I had to shave it all off because, you know, corona) and the stuff you have to use is so toxic it turned my hair a nice copper and gave me chemical burns on my scalp. Now I have vitiligo on my head. Real winner! You should keep curling though.
I did learn something..... it drove me nuts that you weren't going to finish the hair on the otherside, so much so in fact I wanted to mentally send you psychic messages to just have Ava finish it for you despite the fact that you probably recorded this a week ago!! My OCD is very mild but I learnt today that apparently it's not mild enough to not be bothered by your unfinished hair. I laughed at myself and in fact learnt something. Win/Win! 🤦♀️😂😂

I thought you looked fab with curly hair! I got a perm myself, as I've got straight hair too. I love it, I'm so glad I did, I don't have to spend ages trying to make it curly in the morning and if I should happen to fancy straight hair for a day, it isn't a hassle to do that either. I liked when you flipped part of the curls to the other side. I thought you looked lovely. I realize this is already an old thread but I've been looking for some ideas. I am naturally curly/frizzy and I am always straightening my hair. I've got it down to a science. However, I do wear my curls in the summer but they get unmanageable. I've been looking into perms. Don't want the "old lady" look either, even though I am an old lady! I could only wish I had your naturally straight hair. I promise you curls are a real, real pain. We seem to always want the opposite of what we have. You have beautiful hair and if you want to wear it curly once in a while, I think it looks nice on you. I just wouldn't be up to an hour and a half working on my hair anymore. Life is too short! LOL

I got a perm once 😭 Worst decision ever! Turns out that the chemicals they use don't work properly on natural red hair...which in my own stupidity, I was fully warned about, and chose to go through with it anyway 😬I got a Japanese Perm, because it was supposed to come out looking like GHD curls. I turned out looking like a shaggy wet dog!!! Some parts curled, some parts didn't...but it was pretty frizzy and dry all over 👍🏻 🙄 I chalked it up to dumb things I did in my youth 😂

MY GUESS, is I think it's something to do with there being more melanin in red hair, and so the chemicals can't penetrate as well...or something. 🤷🏻♀️

I think you’d look great with some curls, but it looks like you’d need a bit of (LING) layering in order to give you those looks you showed before starting to use that curing iron. Also, perm curls are different than a curling iron look, and you can adjust the curl tightness with the perm rod sizes. Also, it takes awhile before people who have had straight hair there entire lives, turn curly in a few hours. Once you get used to the curlier look, if you don’t like it, you can always straighten it again. Hope you find the new look you’re hoping for! 👍

Hi! Try putting on dry shampoo first. Then curling at the roots first, hold for 5 seconds then work down. That is what I do and I get a lot of volume at the top. (Idk?)🙆 Maybe it will work for you. I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for sharing. God bless you and your family.
The curls look great! However, start the curling at the scalp and move your hair through the iron this.way you don't burn the driest part of your hair. I do this when having to touch up my naturally curly, frizzy, dry hair! I'm calling bullshit on all these girls with natural, soft, bouncy, uniform curls. Not once in 48 years have I had them.😕

Yeah most of the 'curly' haired girls on TV are fake curls.... for us naturally curls girls, there's tons of frizz, weird curl patterns and just giving up and putting it up in a ponytail 🤷♀️
100%!! I always say with my hair that I never know what hair I'm going to have that day. If it's a good curl day, it has a shelf life of about 6 hours before it goes to complete frizzy shit!
Actually "Working Moms, Juno Rinaldi" does have really good natural curly hair. There are lots of women with really good natural hair.....I'm one of them. I was blessed to have good natural curly hair. Everyone has a frizzy day here or there, but some women do have very good curly hair. Look up Juno Rinaldi.....She has her frizzy days too, but her hair is definitely not "Fake curls".

Oh Lou! It wasn't a waste of time. It gave us all something to do. Watch you tediously curl your hair into tiny pin curls. I actually thought it looked cute. However after one sleep it would be a rats nest. You have much more patience than I. Long story short, No! Do not get a perm.😐

If you wet set your hair in small rollers you can get that look and the roots will be curled too- I feel like the curls look so good on you!
