RIP, Dr Greggs..I grew up not too far from the SU campus and remember many an evening hearing the band rehearse. Also saw the band in person many times.
RIP Doc!! Thanks for being so many things to so many of us. Taking alot of us on our first flights, 5 star hotels, restuarants and places all over the country. The lessons you taught, we learned and learned well. To be perfectionist and nothing less. Thank you
Thank you for sharing this footage. It brings back alot of my band memories. RIP Doc! Thaks for all you have done for me and countless others! Welton "California" Carey (KKY) 1975-79
for the longest I could have sworn that Southern played My Girl when I was there in 2004. I could not find footage and began to think that it was a dream until you brought out this video!!! I remember when the Southern University Fabulous Dancing Dolls finished a routine performance on the other side of the field and as they walked over to the home side, the band played My Girl!!! Thanks for the memories!! SU Jaguar for life. RIP Dr. Greggs!
I would’ve ran through a wall for a director like that. I love watching his satisfied facial expression as he conducts “My Girl.” It’s like he’s saying: “I’ve taught my kids well. They’re making something that was before their time sound the way it’s supposed to.” I’ve always respected and enjoyed the Juke because of Doc!
Glad I got to meet you and hang up with you. Yes I went to Gram and you showed me Love all the Time. Got to show out with Doc when he came to our Gram Game after retirement . We clowned and it was lovely. Rest easy Doc and you inspired so many of my Family who has the S on there Chest and I there heart ! Wannnnnnnn
My thoughts and prayers goes out to Dr. Greggs' family and the Southern Jukebox. Coming from a FAMU Marching 100 Member, we feel your pain to lose an icon. When Dr. Foster passed away in 2010, it was like losing a father.... Hold on to God's unchanging hands.... R.I.P. Doc Greggs!!!
The best hands down Rip Doc "often Imitated never duplicated"
I wish he was still alive. You could feel his passion for music.

As you can also see, the man was relentless and passionate about what he did so well.
