This show had two of the all time great satellite characters in the shape of Mrs Warboys and Mr Swainey. Both sublime at pushing Victors buttons whilst being blissfully unaware of it.
Given that the best comedy should bare some relation to the real world, how could these two dreadful characters be THAT unaware of the impact their mindless actions might have on others?
.....yes so true.....and Richard Wilson himself says that he was not at all like Victor in real life....tho that's hard to believe it as he is such a convincing actor! loved this series to bits & was sad when it all ended.
We're kind of used to this now, but normally I'd bauk at the idea of incidental music during actual scenes (rather that transitions) in British sitcoms, but it always seems to work in OFITG. The music used throughout , but especially from the moment Margaret and Jean open the door and find the chaos within, and everything that follows, just heightens the hilarity somehow. Very few British sitcoms of the time would have got away with this without feeling cheap and incredibly annoying. It fascinates me.
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
Yes. Congratulations, you've quoted Mr Williams, who poetically describes how we all experience time within our own consciousness, and how ephemeral it is. Not sure what we have to learn from this in relation to this video.
I always thought Patrick was a young version of Victor. They're nice to their wives but get grouchy when surrounded by idiots, and unluckily Patrick has only caught Victor at the worst moments when things go wrong.
I wish public broadcasts would air these episodes. I read that the networks claim these episodes are dark themed and will not air them that's sad One Foot In the grave is very funny. 😢
They are replayed on yesterday and gold channels but at 9-11pm after the watershed once a month or when they can be bothered , that's why we never see them...compared to what's on television before 9pm, I think this is TV GOLD !!! 😀😂😂
What a ridiculous supposition for the network to take! All great comedy has dark moments and great pathos.... Steptoe and Son, The Office, Only Fools and Horses...
Is there a floor cloth by the door (yes ) well do you mind shuving in your mouth 😂😂 oh my god 🙏 the times I would have loved to tell my husband that 👿👿
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

That actually so true most satellite characters are annoying

@@antispindr8613 that's what makes it funny. If they knew, they'd just be obnoxious. That's the whole point.
This is too marvelous. I never get tired of watching these episodes from the past. I wish they would all be shown again.
I still have not seen all the episodes so I will try and catch up. A hilarious comedy. A great cast.
Got rhe series on DVD. Classics.
that deadpan answer at 10:44 after pippa ask if you like fighting with neighbours always get me LOL 😆
Hilarious when victor looks as though hes laughing at mrs warboys genius
The screaming window cleaner 😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Victor Meldrew looks just like Mr. Burns 😂😂😂
Love the way he says bastards
I love seeing Victor smile/laugh. Makes me smile

Hear hear
Mrs Warboys: ".... D'oh, I think I'm going to be sick..!"
Victor: "...... *BWAHAHAHAHAHARGH!!* "
Patrick and Pippa should have had their own series after one foot ended. Patrick was a perfect character to carry on IMO. Not too late either.
That would be quite funny since they were basically the younger version of Victor and Margaret, they'd be the right age to succeed them now.
They never had children either to our knowledge. So that would be a perfect setup.
Truly a times germ the whole series ❤
Love the first part of this episode where it looks as if victor is laughing at Mrs Warboys misery. .....😁😁😁😁
😂😃
He was the headphones were off
It's genius!! such a simple idea yet utterly hilarious!!
I think he was listening to Monty Python's Spam sketch on those headphones.
Brilliant laughs for a pandemic world. I need this when the going gets tough.
Duh..what's pandemic?!?

Victor is a magnet for attracting trouble.
Do you mean someone to confirm every wrong-headed idea about older people?
extraordinaire !
This video cut off at 14:55 and went to the following one.
That neighbor in the restaurant is always a nightware, I know, I have one next to me.
Ms. B. Churchill
Perhaps it was Norman Price who kept calling the fire brigade on Victor 😂

Actually, you're probably a bot, or just trolling. Either way. "Death is but a door, time is but a window. I'll be back" (Vigo the Carpathian - 1610)
I always wondered why Pippa stayed with Patrick as he's an enormous tosser. Victor is lovely, he's just unlucky in life.
I always thought Patrick was a young version of Victor. They're nice to their wives but get grouchy when surrounded by idiots, and unluckily Patrick has only caught Victor at the worst moments when things go wrong.
Patrick is very loving to Pippa though. In a way it's a bit like Victor and Margaret, Margaret is the one person Victor is never short with.

Pippa: I mean what is it? do you get some kind of sick perverted pleasure out of rowing with our neighbours! Patrick: Yes! lol
I think my favorite one is when he finds a severed finger in the fish and chips lol
Or a wig in his bread
My favourite one is when Victor is sat in the armchair and the phone rings. He bends down and picks up a tiny dog and put it to his ear.
What's with the part 1 stuff. I can't find part 2 anywhere for any episode?? 😮
6:06 What Victor thinks of the fire service
1:41 the three characters reaction here sums up edibles
Comedy at it's best.

That is funny
Jean Pierce loosely placed in upset wife...close but it was❤ someone else's story.
Odd ending!
...but fitting for such a weird show?
Private Snafu
Patrick is creepy
He's such a swine.
@ALLAN CHARLES In much the same way John Cleese made a career from being the 'poor man's' Peter Cook.
awful uploader. no ending
