Turning this hard rock electric Hendrix piece into cool acoustic jazz is nothing short of genius. What an arrangement, not to mention the vocal interpretation!
+Clamchucker well I dont know much about hard rock and stuff but the original is pretty much on the same beat and vibe so it aint that surprising if u think about it
+Ran Perry: The original is all electric, a product of the psychedelic theme which Hendrix emulated so well. It is solid rock. Jones has converted it to an acoustic jazz piece. Listen to the original, then this. I believe you will notice a difference. Yes, the key is the same, the cadence is as well, but it is a completely different sound. It is a magnificent interpretation of the original. Both versions are brilliantly executed within their own disciplines.
I have to agree with Ran, I would say the original is more jazz/rock fusion than hard rock. This just pushes it more into the jazz sphere. But I agree, both versions are great.

Unreal, this chick can do a killer cover of about anything musical, even does a killer rendition of Hendrix no less. And her choice of songs that she covers is amazing. Rickie's got a huge talent, and her voice makes me....aroused. Her ol' squeeze Tom Waites ( for no man) described her as the sexiest woman on the planet. She expresses it so well in her music.
Totally agree. Love her music: Her songwriting's awesome, her voice is one of a kind, and what a kind. And she seems like such a lovely human being. She said she wants her music to help heal herself and heal the people who listen to it. It certainly works. :)
