Most new pilots after have completed their advance jet training before transitioning to the F-16 as their first combat fighter. The Ukrainian fighter jet pilots have already flown combat missions in the old Soviet era fighter jets. The biggest issue will be to understand English since the instruments are in English and how to fight the F-16 in combat, along with training the ground crew and mechanics.
They should try to recruit retired ex ground crews. Even if only as trainers. That would be the best solution
I don't think they have that many spare pilots and crew but it might help to get the F16 going as soon as possible and train new pilots/crew to keep it going as more F16s (and other equipment) become available? Young pilots might also pick-up the English and advanced systems faster.
I think all UKR pilots have studied English since the start of this war back in 2022. English is going to be the least of the problems here. 6-8 months as the Dutch Defense Minister said seems totally doable.
@@angela1984a In a high stress situation in combat the instrument verbal warnings such as missile alert are in English and instrument displays in English, you have to react quickly without the delay of translation in your head.

All of these countries already fly the F-16: Türkiye, Greece, Egypt, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Israel, Iraq, UAE, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan. Oman, Marocco, Jordan, Pakistan, Bahrain and many, many more...
I had thought we were already training the Ukrainian pilots months ago.
Training and training on jets 2 different things. Getting the theory , english , aviation english etc . simulator training technical training etc is all on the ground , flying jets is later in the proces . Just a reminder Ukrainians dont speak english and the ones that do are not on the conversation or technical levels required . Only 7 or 8 where qualified to start the advanced english course , 12-14 where only conversation english and the majority didn not speak a word.
Its quite hard to actualy fly a plane that only has english language formats ,when you dont understand practical /technical english .

I was also convinced that F-16 training on a regular basis had been ongoing for 6 months.
The Ukie pilots were all tainted by their time spent in Soviet era Russian jets. That experience flying Soviet jets doesn't translate to flying F-16s. Dog fighting is all muscle memory, under pressure the Ukie pilots all reverted back to their old Soviet planes....they sucked for under pressure. This was discussed months ago. The people training them said they want completely green pilots untainted by flying Migs.....
Training and early evaluations were on simulators. The interviewer is talking about actual, in the seat training.

I know no Ukie makeshift airfields would be out of the range of Russian hypersonic missiles. I know the Ukies don't have an AWACS plane so their pilots will be blind to Russian jets. I know that Russia has the best air defense systems in the world bar none....I know the SU-57 is superior to the older F-16s and that the Russian pilots are well trained.....WHAT'S LEFT TO KNOW?

@@bb_binx C-5As at Westover…we lived there when the C-130s left then came C-5A…Westover was also very popular for layovers of other fighter jets coming and going from the U.K….I probably saw every fighter jet back then that was in the military inventory…..the A-10s came 79-80 (22) A-10A…my dad was in charge of Egress on ACESII ejection seat …and on TDYs when he was on B Flight he was DCC on 78-0632 …he retired after 26 years at Barnes Aerospace Chief E-8. The C-5Ms are down the road at Westover ARB Chicopee Massachusetts they have 8. They were flying last night. My dad also was in Thailand for a few years (67-70) worked on F-105 THUD)..we lived at Westover from 81-97 while my dad was F/T AGR. At the time there were C-130s at Westover and slow transformation to the C-5s. Now I live off 202 in South Hadley near the back end of runway 15 so the C-130s from CT or RI or NY are always around along with a C-5M here and there…the F-15s always come over after they take off from Barnes when they head East. I personally wish they would send American pilots in..They will find out what it's like,NOT to own the air...Iraq,Afghanistan,Syria,etc where they would just fly in and drop their bombs and go home..My dad was on a B-24 in WW2 over Germany..Like he said you had to fight your way in and fight your way out..That's what the hotshot American pilots would encounter over Ukraine..

It could be that they’re just actually getting training now or we’ve been secretly training Ukrainian pilots out at Tonopah in Nevada or other remote air bases the entire time.
Personally I believe Ukrainian pilots have been getting trained on western systems but only for command and the process of creating a Ukrainian run training program begins now.
It makes little to no difference if Ukie pilots are trained well or not. The gifted F-16s are old , the Ukies have no suitable airfields or even an AWACS plane. The Russian pilots will be able to see the Ukies coming but the Ukies have no way to see the SU-57s at distance....then there's Russian ground to air missile systems second to none.........it's going to be a turkey shoot if the F-16s even manage to get in the air....

@@davidcohen7106 No it doesn't, Ukraine isn't getting new F-16's. Norway sold their F-16A/B Block 10-15 MLU (same type NL will send to Ukraine) to Romania for a bit over €12 mln (388 for 32). But that included maintenance, spare parts, training and support equipment. So the actual value of the fighter jet itself is likely less than €10 mln.
There are no airfields in Ukraine suitable to F-16s and even if they had one it won't be out of Russian hypersonic missile range. Even if the F-16s manage to become airborne.... Where are they going to land? Those F-16s lucky enough to survive will have no place to land........pure insanity, it's over!

But that would beg the question of what "winning" actually means. While Ukraine knows (the return of all Ukrainian pre-2014 land to its full control), western countries have avoided articulating that or any other vision of victory.
This may be because nations like Germany would be pretty happy with a frozen conflict if it got them cheap fuel again and the US is fine with any outcome that doesn't harm Joe Bidens standing, and hurts Russia.

Both Denmark and the Nederlands has asked the US for a long time to be able to donate their F16. They could have been there by now, saving Ukraine lifes and furthered the counter offensive. The Nederlands and Denmark already donated 100 tanks and Denmark now further 45. And that is just some of the support.

They are not new, but they are reasonably up to date and still verry usable.
These are the digitalised versions.

Thing I knew they were already training at least on simulators. I don't think any of them are going to have any trouble with the real thing let's get them fuel let's get them launch sites and into the air. Where they can teach the Orcs what real air superiority is about
Ukrainian military pilots don't speak English well. Learning language takes a lot of time. I could say it takes even more than new type plane pilot retraining process. It takes sense to retrain Ukrainian civil pilots who speak English well.
This training will take a long time. The war will (hopefully) be over before the pilots are ready.

One major problem most dont speak english or have the english proficiency in military english Jargon . Out of the qualified pilots only a handful is ready to train the other english speakers need a course in aviation english and terminology , the rest has to learn english from scratch .
They could all be fluent in English it still won't make any difference. The F-16s with rookie pilots will be no match for the Russian SU-57 pilots.....they have no viable airfields, no AWACS so the Russian pilots will see them but they won't be able to see the Russians......DISASTER!

The Ukraine-Russia war is not an unprovoked war.
It is US (the world No.1 war mongering nation & No.1 regional conflicts instigator) leading NATO, the Western military alliances, through continuous expansion of boundaries (disregarding Russia's many protests) up to the borders of Russia; and with the setting up of many US/NATO military bases in many European countries with bombers, ballistic missiles, even nukes pointing towards Russia.
These NATO intimidating actions surely threatened Russia national security that instigated & provoked Russia to take such military operation.
