Really excellent video. Love your passion for photography and the classical background music. BTW, thanks for answering my question the other day regarding the purchase of a D7000. I may even scrounge up a few pennies more and get a D7100 !!!
Thank you for reviewing these cameras, they still have a lot to offer, are still relevant and more affordable than before. At 68, I have no desire to go mirrorless
Your comment about a uv filter protecting your lens glass was spot on. Last week I tripped going up some steps. The bag my camera was in slipped of my shoulder and banged into the edge of the step. I had on my 50mm nikkor lens with a UV filter on. (the lens cap, unusually was not on) The filter was smashed, but my lens was un-marked. The lens cost £250, the Hoya filter, £25 ! Case proved,
Thanks for the video. I'm 67 years old and have just bought my first ever camera. It's a Nicon D750 that I got on ebay for £299. It's in perfect working order and has 110,000 shutter count. There are a few scuff marks here and there but for the price I'm not complaining. I was going to get a Nicon 55mm primary lens but after seeing this I'm thinking of purchasing the 85mm lense as it will be more versatile in the long run. I know nothing of photography but I'm in need of a hobby to occupy my time now I have reached retirement. Any advice for a newbie is welcome. Thank you once again. 👍

My favorite lens for D600. Very sharp, cheap, much smaller than 24-120 and just as good. D600 with 24-85 is similar weight and size as D7200 with 16-80 so it's a big win for me.
Carmine, a Classy Guy, with Classy Music. Always enjoy the added ‘bonus’ of background information on parts of New York City and surrounding areas, as well as your photos! I have this lens, and it is a ‘sleeper,’ IMO. It works well on my D700. It has been out in Rain and snow and still works. And yes, I am an advocate for filters, and some manufacturers even require a front filter to meet their claims of weather resistance. ( I’m thinking Canon ‘L’ Glass here. ) However, I usually use a clear front filter, as opposed to UV. UV not necessary for Digital. To each their own. YMMV Love your content Carmine. Stay safe and Happy Shooting! 👍

Thank you. I almost bought that one for my D610 but ended up using my DX 18-55mm AFP for that range. I sold my 80-400mm and use the DX 55-300mm for most things. 😂
I have used those two DX lenses on my D610. (I had them for my D80) I know they are very inexpensive, but they produce really excellent images on full frame. I did buy the 24 85. Love it. Great inexpensive lens, giving excellent results. But if i am being honest, the 18 55 is amazingly good as well.

Good choice!
Have it for my D700 - and love it! Great lens. Managed to score it for approx. 130 USD in mint condition.
Very nice!
Works a treat on the D700, and I’m speaking from experience and owner of both.
Love the blue door shot!! Well done.
Carmine, thank you for talking about the D60 recently!! I bought one today and I can't believe the image quality. I'm very happy:)
You are so welcome!
Very sharp lens on my D700.
What would be a good alternative FX zoom to this Nikkor 24-85mm lens that is smaller in profile for street photography? Preferably with VR.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Lens
@@CarmineTavernaPhotography Thank you Carmine. I think you had a video on that one as well.
@@CarmineTavernaPhotography that’s actually bigger no?
I wonder how well it works on the z9?
Great question...thank you for watching my video :)

I think this would be a great lens for street photography.
Agreed 👍
@@CarmineTavernaPhotography Too bad it's not f2.8 at that price.🥲
But ooooooh the music !
THAT MUSIC IS FROM THE MUSIC HALL IN ONE OF THE PHOTOS LOL :)
