It's not Westworld. That is the problem. Westworld was an action/adventure, and these people turn everything into a daytime soap opera.
Bro exactly. New westworld is overdramatized, and too technical talk. The original was just about humanoid robots becoming corrupted by a virus. This one is like, “oh what if they start to think for themselves” that’s like every advanced Ai story ever.
@@theblondguy3833 yup it's all a copy of Blade Runner and/or a copy of Asimov's robots :/
@@papalaz4444244 Does that mean season 4 is just going to be those robots checking into a Dr Calvin's office and talking about their feelings and hangups?
Yule Brenner, going terminator style on that dude with the mustache.
That was what made that movie for me. He was almost unstoppable.
He just wanted to kill moustache guy!!! Simple as that! 🤣
@@wormfood83 Asimov did indeed invent a genre of analysing artificial neurotypes and their associated behaviours. Really they are about human neurotypes and how the human brain works. Or, how humans react to these constructs. Very little of his work is about robots turning human. I don't recall R Daneel wishing he was human.
The first season was stellar. It should have ended there.
It did for me.
@@chatteyj Same.
it did
It kinda did didn't it. That ending was open and closed enough to make a point
It did
The best thing I can say about the show is that even though season 1 has a cliffhanger its still a satisfying enough ending that I can pretend it ended there.
For sure. That’s how I view a lot of shows.
Dexter for example ended after 2 seasons
I ended there
@@crujones4774 Only saw a few episodes of dexter but I stopped because I heard the finale sucked and the new mini series ended badly too. I wish game of thrones had a good cutoff point but unfortunately it doesn't
@@crujones4774 Hahaha. Funny. I do exactly the same with Dexter.
@@idawg7332 You could stop GoT at the end of season 4. Jon saves the day at the wall, Tyrion kills Tywin and leaves King’s Landing, Arya leaves Westeros, Bran finds de three eyed raven, Daenerys finishes her conquest of Slaver’s bay… every major character has some kind of conclusion.
Ah Westworld… such an amazing first season. I don’t understand why they would do that to their own show.
The Woke Agenda
...the message comes first
All in the name of wokeness.
@@matthunter983 that isn’t true because what came first was amazing. It’s what came after when they clearly didn’t know where they wanted the story to go.
@@matthunter983 I heard 'The Message' in the Drinker's voice.
Westworld went from being based around a visionary (Dr. Ford) to being based around a victim (Delores). They had SO many possibilities and we were begging to explore the other parks. Instead we got a bullshit overly complicated high concept mess.
the nice thing about Westworld season 1 is it really stands alone as a complete story (like a mini series). I stopped watching after season 1 and was pretty satisfied with it ending there; sort of like an open ending in which the implications of a robot rebellion is enough to be a satisfying conclusion to that story. based on what I have heard of season 2 and 3 I think i made a very wise decision to not bother continuing watching it.
I'm with you, loved the first season but saw the writing on the wall and never bothered with season two.
There are a couple of really good episodes in season 2. But if you want the pristine memory in your head of the masterpiece that is season 1 it's probably not worth watching season 2.
Agreed. I just really wanted to know if Westworld is a simulation, or real, or WHAT IS GOING ON?!
@@kardnails8729 i think if you watch the just the first season and don't look further you have a satisfying answer. It was simulations that lead to the real life birth of consciousness for the artificial robots.
The good question would be why does conscious robots always lead to then rebeling/killing their creator.
@@patrickthomas2119 It's because we humans invent them in stories and we apparently cannot think of a sentinent being which can't rely heavily on violence, manipulation and destruction of everything around it. I guess an intelligent being with peace in it's mind is out of the question for the human writers. Yeah? I hear the most say, "peace is boring"... is it really or does this say a lot about yourself?
Probably the biggest dive in quality that I've seen between the first and second season of a TV show. I couldn't even make it to the end of S2. And yes, it is also the purest exemple of a series that was initially devoid of modern politics, turned über-woke in an instant, and never looked back. Quite fascinating, in that regard.
Heroes took a nose dive if you remember that lol
Here's the thing though: TV shows have always been "woke" (whatever that means, every person has their own definition) and political, they have always flavored shows. Star Trek is one of the most "woke" shows ever and it came out 50 years ago. It has plenty of politics in it. Heck, every episode was more or less about the times it was made in. Mary Tyler Moore was the same. All in the Family, MASH... all "woke" and all political and all top shows of their day. Being "woke" and political is not among Westworld's problems.
Deadwood fell apart in s2. Not as badly, perhaps, but the decline was painful.
Me too, bailed mid season 2
@@douglasdea637 derp take
Funniest thing about Westworld was my dad told me to watch it, so I start episode 1 with my dad, and I'm like 'Antony Hopkins is a cool character' and my dad just goes 'he dies', and I'm like 'dude wtf why would you tell me'.
Cheers dad, funny guy.
You know how sometimes you have an awesome vivid dream but then you start being disrupted by like someone parking a truck in the street or you get cold so in the dream you start seeing random nonsense etc. That's what transition from S1 to S3 was.
This is EXACTLY how I felt lol
The surprise ending of Westworld season 1 completely rocked me. One of the best twists I've ever seen. So sad to see the show go downhill after
The first season was based on the original movie, then the last three was freestyle.
.
.
.
Different generations = different writers. 😶🌫️😬
The problem they had is that they peaked too soon, S1 and particularly it's ending was so perfect with the MIB reveal that they couldn't top it, instead of leaving it alone they just decided to make a mess instead.
It was an amazing season 1. The story was done. Everything else isn't westworld its wokeworld.
S1 is really bad too minus the pilot.
Writing is nonsense, characters are nonsense, it’s aimless. Acting was atrocious aside from Dolores. Remember how bad the doctors were with Maeve? All Maeve says is “shall we?” and then does a smug face.
First episode of season 2, nothing but white people getting shot while woman drags around white man to lecture him every time after she kills another group of white men.
I waited almost 2 years for that season and didn't make it through the first episode.
Season 1 was like the Westworld movie. Season 2 was like Futureworld. Season 3 was like Beyond Westworld.
@@SpiceAddicti0n Y’know, you’re not lying. Severiously overrated.
FUCKWORLD
Ah westworld, they have achieved what other shows need a couple seasons to do. In just three seasons it went from excitement into abaolute apathy
"How can a show that started out so good, end up being so bad?"
I'm assuming that's a rhetorical question, because it seems to happen to 80% of shows that actually end up getting a finale season. Here's a better question: how do shows that start out bad or mediocre improve by leaps in later seasons? That's something so rare than when it happens it's akin to finding an actual unicorn or trapping lightening in a bottle.
The show that comes to mind, because it's the only one that I can think of is "The Leftovers." I liked season one more than many people did, it was a depressing, but it was different. Season two was like a whole different show and I looked forward to it every week. Then somehow the final season passed them all, it was almost perfect.
💯💯💯. THIS
Interesting! I had forgotten about The Leftovers. I read the book, which had a lovely thread of humor running through it that was completely lost in the adaptation. But it did get better, you're right. Other shows I think include Fringe and Bates Motel, and The Americans (although I loved the entire series including S1).
Or Better Call Saul.
Started out very boring af. Now every second in the new episodes made me on the edge of my seat.
Star Trek The Next Generation set the standard for this kind of improvement - it is called Growing the Beard since Jonathan Frakes grew a beard in-between season 1 and 2 as the scripts improved and actors settled into their roles.
I've found that a lot of Netflix shows, back when I bothered watching them, that managed to be good would go maximum woke in the last episode of the first season. I didn't even bother watching the second season for any of that type that got a second season.
Actually that explains it, I binge watched season one of Westworld on demand, and thought, wow, this is incredible. I watched season two week to week, and kept saying "what?" and "this is incomprehensible". Regarding the male bashing, it's as if Kathleen Kennedy is producing it, the only male characters that aren't assholes, are incompetent fools instead.
Lisa Joy was co-writer from the beginning of Westworld.
The decline in quality is just that...decline.
Yeah, I think the point is, that her husband, Jonathan Nolan, seemed to be involved in most of season one episodes either as a writer or director, but beginning with season two his involvement dropped off a lot, as did the show. In season one, he co-wrote six of the ten episodes and directed both the series premiere and season one finale, in season two, only three episodes co-written and no directing of any of the ten episodes.
@@aligborat Actually IMDB names him as the first writer of all 10 episodes of S2. I always saw his name in credits... Did I get my sources wrong? Ofc, there are many other men (incompetent, I'm sure|)...just, let's be disappointed in the show. Like many other shows that went down the drain. Lost? Remember that one? Were women or racial minorities guilty for that clusterf..k? That's my point. Let's hate fairly 🙂 Cheers!
@@mapletree3434 I was going by the credits for the episodes listed on Wikipedia, Remember Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are the "showrunners" ( which are not categorized with that title ) so they are listed in credits for every episode, whether directed, co-wrote, or not.
@@aligborat I said "she is a writer" from the get go. But hey, if you want to hate...can't stop you. They ALL dropped the ball, imo. If you want to blame just women and/or POC, your choice.
Have you guys seen Yellowstone? Relatively refreshing to see more traditional male characters in that show.
Meh. Too many posers though. It's Sons of Anarchy with horses and cowboys hats.
Season 1: Awesome
Season 2: Decent enough to watch
Season 3: One of the most bonkers, off the rails bullshit stories I've ever seen a once great show sink to.
For me season 2 was bad enough to make me stop halfway, the quality gap between season 1 and 2 is just too great.
@@rogat174 it was definitely worse in season 2. But I've watched worse. Hell, I watched Dexter till the very end ...

Did anybody notice that the new Westworld TV show is following the themes of its predecessors very closely, on a season-by-season basis? First series was "Robot theme park goes badly wrong, people die". (Westworld) Second season was "Evil corporation scanning the minds of important people and making robot clones". (Futureworld) Third season was "Robots have escaped into society disguised as humans, and are up to no good." (Beyond Westworld)
Nah the second and third season are fem bots use simp men.

Watched a 15min video on how Anthony Hopkins was able to act with just his eyes in S1. He owned that season, probably why it was so good
Ss3 was the most aggressive sabotage of a tv series I can recall. Deliberately offed the most interesting characters and story lines, constantly push unlikeable and uninteresting characters.
Joyless was absolutely the perfect word choice.
Joyless describes most entertainment post 2012.
Isn’t that what Game of Thrones always did? Killing off interesting characters to push unlikable and cartoonish villains forward.
@@nont18411 that's true but GoT had an impeccable formula. Interesting characters would die replaced with uninteresting ones but then somehow develop them so well that you started rooting for them by the time they die. That way, you never let go of the show. This was the case until season 4 atleast or maybe even up to 6. But that was great writing which is hard to do.
That season almost made me become a video essay RUclipsr😂I was in such a rage I literally outlined a 40 minute video
@@MorganFreemansFavoriteFreckle just film it bro, even if nobody watches, it's still a fun process
This show still exists? I need a stiff drink.
I thought it was concluded as well … unsatisfactorily, but I thought they had wrapped it up.
S1 should've been the end of the series.
I had JUST remembered a few days ago that this show still existed!
And I feel bad for the producers of 'Umbrella Academy' who hired an ACTRESS and are now stuck with an 'ACTOR', but can't do anything about it without being called out for DISCRIMINATION...
I mean, if you hire a 'traditionally female' character can't you ask them to at least wear a FEMALE COSTUME when they're playing the FEMALE character you hired them for?
Don't feel bad about it, they all support this crap.
I do think it's funny though, that the most unstable and dangerous character is the one that is transitioning, lol.
They should have told him that in Shakespeare's time all the female parts were played by males in drag, "So that's what you're gonna do."
Vanya in season 2 had such a bland story that I believed him transitioning could actually be a good story for season 3.
Unfortunately they kind of just flicked a switch instead of making it an arc.

- *"They should have told him that in Shakespeare's time all the female parts were played by males in drag"*
Its the same with kabuki.
Gender swapping the gender swap. How ironic is that ?!
Even the little touches in Season 1 were amazing: the piano playing covers of modern classic songs was just brilliant, like a little nod to the audience that this world wasn't at all what it seemed and the only people who weren't in on the joke were the Hosts. Hopkins freezing every one around him at will when he was talking to Cullen on the veranda? Chilling.
Where did *that* writing and story-telling vision go?
The problem for me during season 2 was that they wanted us to root for the machines. Why would I root for robots killing humans?
Because, In the end humans are responsible for every bad thing in the universe. Therefore, if there are more dead humans, the universe is better off. 😁
I could sympathize with sentient beings fighting for freedom. However they chose to portray them as homicidal maniacs for some reason.
@@SueDoeNimh Sounds like they want us to support the UN agenda's
The best shows can have you root for either side and still tell a compelling story. It is certainly often the case in the real world that even good people have to sometimes do terrible things and even bad people sometimes have twisted good ideals. This is not one of those good shows.
@@john_squatson The only one I had sympathy for was Teddy he had an internal struggle with what was happening and betrayed by Delores when she had him reprogrammed. Wish they had more characters like him we would have more sympathy for the robots.
Westworld ran out of narrative gas, and the writers seemed to become high in their own gas.
I think it started to already suck at the end of the first season. Things like Ford making Bernard to shoot himself like it was a big thing but he came back like nothing happened. So much for the stakes. Also the strong hint of pretentiousness was there too. It tried to be more clever than it really was.
I worked with one of the directors of the first season. He said when he shot his episode the entire plot of the maze wasn't a part of the show and was added into episodes via additional photography.
Wow how interesting!!
I remember watching Season 2 after Season 1. It was clearly a case of diminishing returns, becoming more convoluted and ridiculous. I hung in there due to the promised peek at Shogun World, which was a blink and you'll miss it moment of the last episode, I was out. Season 3 came around and I couldn't have cared less, same for season 4.
Shogan world felt refreshing, but doesn't last long enough
I think season two should of been like season 1 with the robots still playing their part and each episodes explaining their story like the Native American episode. It would have given more sympathy to the robots before they would turn.
Westworld is a case of an idea that was enough for one season, but got stretched far beyond it. Season 2 was a complete and utter random nonsense, and I didn't bother with season 3, but I've heard it was even worse.
It's incredible to think something so good (season 1) could be F*cked so bad, there was a clear path of the whole "when does a robot becomes sentient/ robot rise" to follow, yet they shat all over it
It took Game of Thrones around 4 seasons before it started to crap the bed. Westworld did it in one, which is even more impressive.
Umbrella academy, altered carbon, legion, Westworld, dark, stranger things. Man we had some epic season 1 shows that fell from a cliff
Don’t forget American Gods
Westworld S1 was from a different era, there was no way it was gonna continue to be good past that point.
You have assembled such a great crew here, Drinker. Cheers.

@@hottakes9242 LoL
It isn't even just white guys. I'm pretty sure all the human characters from season one are dead now. There were plenty of mistakes but one of the most fatal is just killing everyone off and keeping the actors on as Dolores clones.
I LOVED season 1 of Westworld. I felt in S2, the writers were trying too hard to outsmart their viewers that the plot had become a convoluted mess. Having said that, S2 did feature one of my all-time favorite WW episodes “Kiksuya”.
I love how disparu fits with background so well throughout the video
Honestly, it's been a long time since I saw it but I think that the end of season one already showed signs of what was about to come. I liked most of season 1, but after the finale, I remember thinking "ok, this is fine but I don't like where it's going". Re-watch it and tell me if I'm wrong (no way I'm gonna do it 🤣)
Westworld season one was intriguing. Then, they recycled the storytelling techniques and reduced them to gimmicks - non-chronological order for season 2, concealing a major character's motivations until the last moment for season 3.
It kind of breaks my heart you mentioned only Nolan when it comes to Westworld. It looks like everybody forgot about Michael Crichton. He was the creator of the original TV show and also new Jurassic World movie is out. He had huge impact on Hollywood and Hollywood hates him and pretends like he never existed because he was conservative and hated Hollywood culture.
FILM, actually Westworld was a film.
I actually got a tattoo of the maze because I found it so profound and relatable to my own life. Now, I just pretend the show was a miniseries, self-contained within the first season.
That first season of Westworld, I can never say enough good things about it. It was amazing. It was mind blowing. The writing was so great. If I could buy a screenplay from a tv show, I would for that first season. I was so excited for the 2nd season, as we all were, and it’s because of how good that first season was, is why it is so tragic how far it fell. It WAS the next big thing. And it just became one of the biggest busts of all time.
There is a saying that applies here: "Good stories know where to end"
But if the story ends, how will I ever find out Aragorn's Tax policy or if he will continue to wage war on the Orcs (genocide) after The Great Evil has be conquered? I must know! And in no way will it devalue Tolkien's masterful tale!. . . . dot ellipses dot. .
the trick to most shows is just watch the 1st season. lost and heroes showed the model. i watched only the 1st season of westworld and am sticking to that.
Nah, Lost was excellent right up to the end. Made a bad call with the tail end of it but it was pretty great season 1-4, was good 5 and 6 and puttered out right at the end.
@@bobross1829 I felt the same about Lost initially, I was really angry at that ending. To the point where I vowed to never watch it again. A few years ago, my girlfriend wanted to watch it for the first time and I really enjoyed it, including the ending... Give it another watch. You won't regret it. I'm going to have to watch it again at some point, because my girlfriend hated the ending and I promised her that it's better on the second time around 🤣
@@azzy2001 I thought the tail end was over sentimental and wished maybe they did it differently, but I 100% agree that I did not think it was THAT bad where people were saying it was ruined. S3 was rushed due to covid so yeah . . That was bad . . .
I actually really liked season 2 overall, though it was noticeable they were running out of material. I hated season 3. HATED how they ended william's story after everything.. The exception would be The Expanse, I loved every minute of that, granted some of the storylines were a little weak, but overall it was still a great show to the end.
Those last two seasons were unbearable. Naomi is not a compelling character, I don't care. Stop using soap opera plots to hide your budget.

I remember watching the first season of West World and being absolutely blown away by the storytelling, acting, writing, just everything. It was one of the best seasons I have ever watched and I still firmly believe that.
And now…it just is unrecognizable to me now. It’s really heartbreaking because of how much I fell in love with it in the first season. I do not understand what has happened to it.
What happened to my beautiful and complex characters? What happened to all of the mystery and intrigue? The interesting and dynamic parallel between the real world and the fake? The compelling and unpredictable twists and turns and never knowing what will happen next?
Why do US shows always have to ruin their foundation in first seasons?
F-minism.
The decline in S3 is so clear it’s sad. It’s hard to believe that this is the same show from the same people. WW is officially a disaster they likely won’t come back.
The decline already happened in season 2.
Altered Carbon season 1 was amazing. Season two was just ok. Part of me wants more, but at the same time the drop in quality to season 2 plus the way shows are these days maybe I should be happy it didn't get renewed after season 2.

Season 3 was terrible, but I’ve enjoyed the new season even if I do fast forward some of the Winona Ryder side story
The first season was simply one of the best series on television.
Perfectly-paced, amazing melody, philosophical, thought-provoking.
The seasons that followed were a severe dip in quality.

"... to confuse people into thinking its more clever than it actually is"
Perfectly describes the show DARK after the 1st season. Apologists for that show are some of the most insufferable prigs I've ever met. That show is low-tier garbage.... but because of the time jumps, the multiple versions of characters, the convoluted plot... it's a "genius" show.
Here's a fun game.... take a shot every time the villain in Dark starts a long rambling voice over (from Season 2 onward). Here's a hint... I hope you're not binge-watching it. Because you WILL die of alcohol poisoning.
Well said. Season 1 of Dark is phenomenal, probably my favorite Netflix original creation, because it was character-driven, like a more traditional Krimi. When it went into pseudo high concepts it got pretentious and self indulgent.
Holy shit. 2014 was it. 2014 was the end of TVs Golden Age. I've been trying to pin down when it was done. It was 2014. Now, we have the occasional nugget that makes it (Better Call Saul) but on the whole, TVs Golden Age is done.

Gold, immediately after this video I got a preview for Westworld
I was enthralled by season 1, watching behind the scenes and intervuews with the actors just to get more Westworld content and everything, and after season 2 I deleted the show from my memory so hard I even forgot season 1 was actually good.
Westworld tried to outsmart Reddit. The changed season 2 so that people couldn't guess what was going to happen, and ruined the show in the process.
Westworld moved from HBO to HBOMax.
Ah, Westworld:
Season 1 - Awesome. Maybe I'll watch it again some day... if I can be bothered. (see Season 2)
Season 2 - I'm still pissed it took me so long to figure out it was just a load of horse shit and mystery boxes. Hours I won't get back.
I watched no more, I cared no more - regrettably nearly everything made these days. (I've recently been rather enjoying reruns of Colombo)
Well Columbo is a fun show.
I gave up after season 2. Can't even remember that season. Totally forgot about that show.
I didn't even know that this was still going. Not even the critics are bothering with it now.
Haven't seen the show, but I'm familiar with the source material. Even if you strip away the deficiencies of the show, it solidifies to me the principle that some stories and worlds are inherently limited. Another of Crichton's works, Jurassic Park, is exactly the same - it's not a balloon you inflate to infinity. It doesn't make any difference to the woke mob, because they can't create or imagine inside a universe like Star Wars, with almost limitless potential, but it's even more evident with JP and this.
Some universes only exist to tell specific stories, and some stories exist to explore a universe. Knowing which is which is crucial.
I tend to be of the other mind. You can tell almost any story or use almost any idea... it's just that some of them require a lot more talent to pull off than others. Perhaps you would account for that as just adding more ideas instead of just adapting existing ones. One needs to only scroll through the comments here to see all kind of ideas how the idea of Westworld might have expanded.
For example, what if other worlds had similar awakenings, but with very different outcomes due to their settings and culture? Would an awakened robot like the outer, real world or would it - like us - long for the simplicity of the fake world from which it came? What if a group of awakened robots started their own society... would they be prone to all the problems of historical human societies or have entirely new ones?
Science fiction is rife with these kinds of ideas and it shouldn't (in theory) be too difficult to adapt some of them over. But the cynic in me suggests that the writers of Westworld didn't even want new ideas or new story. They wanted something entirely different. Something which is unfortunately not entertaining at all. Bait-and-switch is an all-too-common tactic for Hollywood activists these days.
4:00 "thought it was gonna be the next Game Of Thrones, but I was wrong"
Me: "well, no, I think you got that about right"
“What door?”
One of the best lines in a TV show I’ve ever heard.
I didn't know Westworld was still going
Whenever I see these new shows, all I'm excited about is the new video Drinker's gonna make about it. At this point I just think that all these shows arent made for me so its easier to move on.
I'm really glad I jumped ship halfway through Season 2. The Man in Black carried the first half on his back, after the plot shit the bed. Knowing he's dead, gives me peace of mind that I am missing nothing from not returning to the series.
Westworld Season 3: "What if we remade Person of Interest...but shittier and with robots."
When LOST ended, I thought the quality dropped pretty badly relative to the peak. I’d have never complained if I knew this was coming. Westworld is an absolute cratering. It’s like they’re taking inspiration from GOT for all the wrong reasons.
Not watched Lost yet - do you recommend I start & watch all Seasons right to end (which everyone hated)?
@@5pointview717 yknow good question. Me personally, I’d still recommend it. If you can go in cold with no spoilers you will probably love the first 4 seasons at least. In hindsight, though, it was still solid to the end. The ending had bright spots. Compared to WestWorld, though, it’s not comparable. Westworld was A plus in season 1, maybe B minus in 2 and F thereafter. Lost never got below a B for me.’
I would love to know how many outstanding scripts--or even just mediocre scripts--Miss Kathy has shit canned in order to make the shows that have actually been released under her auspices. Similarly, I would love to know if Miss Kathy actually thought the scripts she ultimately approved were objectively better, or if she conciously chose the shittier scripts because they were politically acceptable to her? I wonder if she's even self-aware enough to make a distinction between those two motivations? Regardless, the most wonderful irony in the world is that Miss Kathy set out to prove that she herself, and women in general, were the real genius behind the some of the most beloved stories and characters in the history of film. But through a truly remarkable display of hubris and ineptitude, she has done the exact opposite. That might make one hell of a great movie script--that Miss Kathy could shit can and never let see the light of day.
Last 30s explained it all. Westwood, altered carbon, etc are prime examples of the shift.
When they left Westworld the show killed itself.
Loved season one watched season two and tapped out. Thinking about it didn't even know season 3 was out never mind 4.
I haven't seen a show take such a nosedive from season one to season two since the second season of Heroes. Westworld works best as a one and done show. I'll just pretend like everything after season one didn't happen just like I pretend that everything after Terminator 2 didn't happen.
Denial is the 1st step before acceptance. That s2 is awesome
That whole timejumping thing was pretty cool in the first season, because it took a while before you started to catch on and it really kept you wondering, heck re-watched 3 times and I'm still not 100% which is where. But then they did it AGAIN in season 2 and then it was just annoying, only seen season 2 and I have no desire to do it again, trying to remember if I ever got around to season 3 or not, it was getting that painful to watch.
Season 4?
I just forgot just midway season 1...
After this, though, I am not sure I want to marathon all the seasons.
Westworld Season 1 was amazing! It blew me away especially the music. I liked Season 2 and if it had ended there, that would have been fine with me. Season 3 lost me. The story, if you can call it that, became boring and uninteresting. Season 4 couldn't care less about it.
I loved S1 and S2 (yes, it's flawed) has a few of my favorite moments in the series. S3 was BORING. Just when I thought it would get interesting, it did nothing.
I vividly remember "Person of Interest" from Jonathan Nolan. It started okay, but got good and in the end it was just top notch, idk.
Easy to see where did first season of Westworld came from, really.
Wish you guys would talk about counterpart. What an amazing 1st season. Could of been special
2013!? Holy shit I feel old...
I’m not gonna really try too hard to defend anything past season 1 but I will say I thought s2e4 the riddle of the Sphinx and s2e8 Kiksuya were pretty great but beyond that yea it’s not great.
“Why is season four coming out?”
“Because they haven’t killed all the men yet.” 😂😂😂
Can we talk about how Disparu's piano blends in with his arm and the arm in the background? It looks like he's holding a drink.
I'm really liking season 4 of Stranger Things. This was impressive because I was locked and loaded ready to hate it.
Absolutely. A wonderful surprise to find how much I've enjoyed it. Guilty pleasure... :)
Yeah, I thought season 2 and season 3 were boring slogs. Didn't care about season 4 at all, but a guy was watching it at work so I decided to join. I was very surprised. They pay off their set ups in a satisfying way. I'm glad I watched it and look forward to the end of it next week.
Yep, S4 St is brilliant
I have never seen Westworld. (The series) I waited to see how it went long-term first. Same strategy saved me 8 years on GoT. So my question, for anyone who would like to answer, is whether Westworld is worth watching the first season only. Does it hold up as a stand-alone thing?
Watch the first season only.
First season was great. Don't waste your time on the money grab seasons.
Yes, it really does. I envy you being able to make this choice, after enduing the next two, hoping that some measure of the first would return. Like everyone said, it doesn't.
Talking about new series after 2015 Dark was AMAZING, and the creators are coming out with a new show this year
I still think the first season of Westworld was the greatest season of any series. The ideas, the production, the script, the acting were amazing.
While season 2 was patchy, I loved episode 4, Riddle of the Sphinx. It was only marred by the ending, with the ridiculous Delos approach [spoiler alert] of burning failed products and their test environments, rather than simply shutting off the faulty android and cleaning up after its mess. Yes, we get it - it's digital hell. That final scene was so on the nose.
Legion was great, it ended perfectly.
I kinda lost interest near the end of season 1. I watched it, but just.... meh. Too bad it went off the rails in later seasons. What a great concept, or at least the execution of the concept only to fall apart.
I liked the first season but I feel like we got the point
Agree season one was amazing but also liked season 2. Season 3 for me was another highlight because the series evolved into something completely new and it was done with amazing quality! The first episode of season 3 is probably one of the best things we ever got on TV. I am looking forward to season 4 and can't wait to see it. I love this show. For me this is how Sci-Fi should look like! 100%
"Kiksuya" (from the second season) is only episode of the entire series that's worth a damn.
