Kinnakorai :
Kinnakorai is a village in Kundha Taluk, The Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu. The village consists of about 500 houses and sits about 60 km from Ooty Town and 135 km from Coimbatore city and 60 km from Mulli. The closest town, Manjoor, is 30 km by road.
Previously, coffee was grown, but now the main income source is tea cultivation.Apart from tea, people cultivate vegetable gardens for household use.
Badaga language is chiefly spoken in this village, which has no script and is spoken by about 245,000 Tamil in 200 villages in The Nilgiris.

I was ADE(H) and late S S Ramachandran was UE Ooty in the year 1975-76. We have laid a pipe line for water supply from Thaisola to Kinnakorai . The distance by road from the water supply point to Kinnakorai is about 20 km but the length of the pipe line is about 10 km passing over 2 hills and 3 valleys in a short cut. Myself and Mr SSR walked 3 times on the entire route of the pipe line . Mr SSR used to walk many times to supervise the work .We used to stay in the night along the pipe line in the Forest itself. Our DE (H) Mr K Arunachalam also used to walk with us . Once he walked the full length. Always the contractor Mr Albert Nunes who was residing in Thaisola used to accompany us. Myself and Mr SSR used stay in the house of the then Kinnakorai Panchayat President's house. The prominent figure at that time in Kinnakorai was Mr Sirangi Vathiyar. The road after Thaisola Estate is Forest Rd (6 km) ie up to Carrington . The Carrington Kinnakorai Rd ( 10 km ) belongs to the High ways Department. For the maintenance of this road also we used to go to Kinnakorai frequently.It is a quiet nice place.From there we can see Gethai Power House.
