Even if not a Vampire - Dragonborn would most likely be living forever in Sovangard or taken by Akatosh, so basically becoming Divine. So shut the hell up, Esbern, I will decide which Dragon to slay
@@Bergen98 Dragonborn, vampire or not, knows the secrets of the universe. Their time in Apocrypha probably shows them how to ignore the currents of time altogether, and thus, ignore Akatosh.
Esbern: "Haven't you listened to anything I've said?" Dragonborn: "Yes I have listened, but since it was a stupid ass statement I've elected to ignore it"
Me: "Let me get this straight: you want me to kill the one dragon that has consistently gone out of his way to help us, whose age and power gives him great sway over all of dragonkind?" Delphine: "Yes." Me: "And what kind of message do you think that will send to all of the other dragons?"
Im pro Paarthunax and greybeards but Playing devils advocate here, Paarthunax could have helped the dragonborn knowing that with Alduin out of the picture he's the next in line among the elder dovah and power to lead them, and thats exactly what happened here he's in charge now and those who do not follow him, well... he did say along the lines "they will hear his thuum" practically he said he'll make them obey, that his motives are peaceful or not that remains to be seen he could have the most kind of intentions and he did learn to hold his urges for a long time but only takes a relapse to revert back to his old self and this time with a bunch of dragons following along.
@@radicalxg8282 Even then it's better to wait for (and prepare for the eventuality of) Paarthunax to make his move, because if you're the one to draw first blood, you'll end up turning all of the dovah against you and teach them never to trust your kind ever again.
@@JaySerpa but like, doesn't it say something more like "You foolish mortal, i'm the dragonborn" at least from the translations i've tried to do i didn't find what balnur means but mey means fool, joor means mortal, zu'u means I, and Dovahkiin obviously kin of the dragons or dragonborn
@@JaySerpa ye It was so cool ! We could even add that the building kind of shakes due to the power of the voice like when they greybeards the dragonborn into the temple
Esbern and Karen need to calm tf down. Since before the Oblivion Crisis the Blades were simply the protectors of the Septim Emperors. They haven't fought dragons in millenia. I am Dragonborn, you make the sandwiches.
Sandwich blades .. it all makes sense now! I actually found the original quest so funny usually ignore it. The unskilled Ulfric shouted the high king to death and then the Blades want to storm a mountain with monks that practice shouting every day.
Haha just in case someone is wondering, that line is straight from vanilla. The way I read this is that you can hug a lion you helped raise (we've all seen the YT videos), but one day the lion might give in to his instincts and decide you're food, not a friend, and instead of paws and a hug you'll find claws at your neck. Who can say why or what goes on in the head of the animal at that moment. Is it the Lion's fault for _betraying_ you, or is it the human's fault for forgetting that friendly or not, you're hugging one of the most dangerous predators to exist, a literal killing machine specialised and programmed to hunt and eat smaller mammals like yourself. You might take the risk yourself, but when we're talking about the fate of humanity...
@@JaySerpa This line is what made me trust in Paarthurnax. He doesn't shy away from his nature. It's something he battles with and makes sure you know it too.
@@JaySerpa : True, but percentage-wise, how often does a human do that to another human too? I wonder if there is even a big difference. It's not something I've ever thought to fact check.
@@JaySerpayeah humans have a problem with projecting their own humanity on to anything outside of them. So in context of this the dragons could well easilu give in to their instincts but this reality could be overlooked by the dovakhin
The whole Paarthurmax thing always felt like the Devs omitted a big chunk of the dialog. Like why are the blades that obsessed with hate for the dragons. After all it was the Thalmor who killed their friends, hunting them and according to that Dev the Thalmor are out to unmake the world.
@@l0remipsum991 Delphine is a zealot who spent the last twenty years waging a one woman war against the Thalmor. Esbern is the one obsessed with dragons.
I don't get how you missed the whole period of time when dragons enslaved and committed awful atrocities against humans lol, or the dialogue that outright says it's in their nature to dominate. There's a reason the blades focused on wiping out the dragons in the past. this mod kind of misses any point of actually convincing either of them to change their minds lol, you just go "stfu I'm in charge" and they go along with it.
@@realname8362 Paarthurnax has helped humans defeat the dragons multiple times, is blessed by the divines and has remained good for thousands of years. Delphine on the other hand is an incompetent fool on a power trip.
@@realname8362 I agree with the convincing the Blade to forgive(or at least ignore) Paarthurnax. As both Human and Dragon, the Dragonborn have the most saying in this matter, not Delphine. But c'mon. Karen here is on a power trip, she literally useless in anything Dragonborn related. Her combat powers is pathetic and she have zero tactical intelligence, only skills she have is hiding and surviving Thalmor agent. Which isn't really helpful when it's dragged down by her ignorance and arrogant.
So basically the decision is: I either spare the eternal dragon who was the first to rebel alduin, who teach me and many humans the way of the voice, the master of the gray beards, who was instrumental in saving the world, and who is slowly rehabilitating other dragons so maybe in the future they can live in peace with the rest of the world.... Or I can obey the passive aggressive karen who did nothing but to judge me and order me around like a kid, (wasting a bunch of time on her thalmor persecution complex) and who's going to die in like 30 years having done nothing??? oh and also esbern who is going to die tomorrow. Sorry if i'm supposed to be a protector of the world i have to think big...
Yeah and she argument that if the greybeards had their way they'd just keep the dragon born stuck up in high Hrothgar doing nothing but being a monk like the graybeards said themselves that the dragonborn doesn't have to abide by the rules they live by and besides the blades were back in the past meant to serve the dragonborn not the other way around
@@serdavos4198 yeah granted the blades were originally dragon hunters but as dragonborns started appearing throughout the ages the blades of that time period swore their allegiance to the dragonborn and honestly the blades are rather a disgrace compared to what they were they died the day Uriel septim died there's no bringing them back at least not with how Delphine's trying to go about it
The only decent argument I've ever seen to kill paarthurnax is that he was essentially Hitler's right hand man and now he hides on a mountain far from his guilt, but even that isn't enough for me to kill him. EVER
@@ADreadBellow So they basically outlived their usefulness then aight sounds good to me let me just make them follow me to the highest peak of Skyrim and spartan voice their @ss to kingdom come.
"Excuse me, does it say Dragonborn anywhere on my uniform?" I think this is where the real lack of choice shines through the most. Yeah, you can just not do it, but you could never tell them "Sod off, my voice can crush you into pieces, i am the Boss." In general, there never was much respect for the Dragonborn. Allways sent on meneal tasks...
Remember, it was Kyne & Paarthurnax who first taught humanity to use the Voice, allowing them to successfully overthrow their dragon overlords in the first place. Without Paarthurnax, humanity might still be enslaved.
It would. If it wasn't for Dragonrend, Alduin would've won. That wouldn't have been possible without Paarthanax, man, mer and beast would've all stayed enslaved.
@@babygurleatsshickennuggits4201 That alone makes Paarthurnax the coolest dragon to exist (Second to Akatosh, of course.), it would take so much effort for him to go against his nature to dominate the world around him he's humble, sort of human in nature, even.
Well... Paarthurnax *does* warn you when you first meet him that the Blades only serve themselves and are using you as a pawn. You can choose not to believe him, but he does so much for you (and Skyrim as a whole) that it doesn't feel right to turn on him.
I love how they tell me Paarthurnax committed all these awful war crimes, and then absolutely refuse to elaborate on, you know, what those crimes actually were. Just "he's bad, we're not friends anymore unless you kill him." Okay, fine. I'll go be friends with someone who *doesn't* ask me to murder my other friends.
Too, I think the way she has YOU infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy for her is also bad. I now she thinks she's the last Blade, but for all she knows we don't want beef with them. It isn't just that Dragonborn has no context for who the Blades and Thalmor are other than what she tells you, but she put Dragonborn's life at risk, was a wasted trip bcoz the Thalmor knew nothing about the Dragons (obviously), and messing with them likely breaking many laws. I know it's common knowledge that Delphine is not interested in helping you, just getting your help, but goodness
I'm extremely impressed by the voice splicing of Paarthurnax, though I suppose he always spoke in the same overall tone with his limited dialogue. Wouldn't even know unless I paid attention. With how the Blades' lines were more emotionally varied, I suppose it's just an unfortunate inevitability that their lines would come out rather awkward. Overall, I think the mod is pretty damn good. Gives much better flavor to the outcomes we wanted.
Agreed it’s really good but the dialogue and their reactions could be less forced and devote imho why no one comes to the idea to arrange he a meeting and tell the two to meet Partysnacks and get an image of him and the way of the voice? Maybe at the end they all hug each other and Partysnacks says I am sorry but I really am going to be a better person and the two blades will say alright Partysnacks we will forgive you which is a great present value it and then they all hug
Outside of the repetition, I didn't notice the splicing for Dragon Yoda, Delphine and Esbern were much more obvious. They would have been better if the player had dialogue that was more akin to "You serve the Dragonborn. I'm Dragonborn. I say Dragon Yoda lives." and them responding with a passive aggressive "fine" and left it at that.
We need more mods that incorporate Dovahzul into the Dragonborn's dialouge. Would be cool to add a shaking effect similar to when the Greybeards called us as well.
The mod "The Paarthurnax Dilemma" lets you speak to the blades in dovahzul and adds the shaking effect, although the voicelines of the blades aren't voiced at all Edit: It looks like its slightly broken, although I can't speak for all games
I love this...even if you tell Paarthurnax, one of us dies here, he still remains friendly during the battle....like he says "okey my friend, at least fight a legendary battle and may the best win". It's like he enjoys the battle, despite the fact he knows probably he wont survive This mod just proves how amazing personality P has. We need a mod to kill Delphine
even in battle, Paarthurnax maintains the Way of the Voice. Ironically, it makes him WAY more powerful than the game often portrays. If the Greybeards are anything to go by (Arngier is lvl 125), Paarthurnax would have the ability to shatter mountains with a single whisper and disintegrate armies, but chooses silence instead, to not feed the temptation and hunger. As a result, Kyne rewards this restraint with an ungodly power the likes of which no mortal would ever get to weild, used for only self defense, but primarily understanding and worship. Shows his restraint them that Paarthurnax didn't instantly evaporate the Dragonborn with his Thu'um.
“Ohhh, Esbern. I’m never going to die. I have the ability to become a vampire if I so choose, or I return to Apocrypha and amass an army of cultists/daedra and take over Mundus.”
yeah, that dialogue doesn't work when your dragonborn becomes a vampire, thus ensuring that they can live forever, eternally being a soft check on the Blades very worry. not like it matters. Personally, I sometimes just go up there and sit on Paarthurnax's back, meditating.
Partysnaxs always felt like in all the chaos he would always be your friend he recognizes your power and honestly feels like the closest thing to family that the dragonborn has he's easily my favorite character with a compelling and motivational story of redemption and on top of that he doesn't blame anyone for wanting him dead as he acknowledges what he did as evil even driving home my favorite quote in the elder scrolls franchise "What is better to be born good? Or to overcome your evil nature through great effort."
What is better? It's what partysnacks do. Thats why I like to start my campaign dirty, as thief and assassin. Then, I go to the jarl of whiterun, to the grey beards, and do my redemption arc by saving the world.
"I trust you dragonborn" seems to me a soft and contradictory ending, it would be nice to have an option where you could disband from the blades or kill them entirely just to bring more consistency.
Not to mention Delphine seems to be( little bit) out of character. Firstly she was really determined that Uncle Paathurnax has to die to pay for its sins but then somehow she pacified with the statement with really out of character words. I’m not criticizing mod maker here however it is just an observation.

Fuck them there's no point in killing Paarthrunax. If you do you get a stupid radiant quest where you hunt down random dragon BFD. Paarthrunax is a good boi.
"You'll be dead in a thousand years" Let's be honest, what are the chances of our character not already being an immortal godlike entity by now? Some of our characters have been around since the oblivion crisis, another dragon crisis at this point would be considered half time entertainment.
That voice splicing is so good, holy crap. If I hadn't heard Paarthurnax's dialogue a thousand times so I recognized pieces of it I'd have never even known, it's honestly flawless, better than half the stuff in the game in the first place, lol!
Man this is the way it should've been from the get... Delphine and her "blades" pride. The group was created to protect the emperor/dragonborn not "fight dragons" that group was long gone before the blades. The Dragonguard and its members hailed from a nation far across an ocean cough akavir cough (they weren't even native to tamriel lolll ) so for her and the writers to even have her act like she is apart of that history in any way shape or form is utterly shitting on the hard lore they've written. Not to mention literally thousands of years separate the days of these two different groups and the group had many names between those days and the 4th era. Also lets be honest someone like Delphine would have never ever made it into the Blades, the emperors, the DRAGON's chosen with the total lack of respect for anything other then her ego. She serves the dragonborn, she swore an oath as she even claims herself, yet she breaks every damn word of it over some attachment to something that hasn't taken place in 1000s of years. Something the actual group called "Blades" never took part in, like ever. Not single blade member has ever ever ever killed a dragon (Last known sighting of a dragon was during the age of Tiber Septim himself sooo yeah, the Dragonguard killed dragons not the blades and only 14 at that; my DB is at like 90 Delphine better show some damn respect). Also considering the blades were made to serve the emperor aka the dragonborn aka a dragon soul aka literally no different then the dragons she wants to kill other then he inhabits a human form. Like is she that stupid, she does understand that the dragonborn she serves doesn't have a mortal soul right, you have a dragon soul... you are a dragon (literally a part of akatosh in whatever race form you play) lol I have no idea how she would've ever made the cut by her logic she and the blades should've killed all the emperors too for being dragons (what bc they look imperial or breton its totally fine ?). This is literally the best of the best the empire has to offer. No wonder the elves kicked their ass. I'm starting to understand ulfric more. Not to mention she discovers the prophecy with you on Aldiuns wall, Since everyone is pretty aware of the Oblivion crisis by the events in Skyrim (Martin becoming the aspect/avatar of Akatosh) and Alduin being the world eater the bringer of the end times. So she knows these two facts but she also knows that Alduin ruled over the nords and had the "Dragon cult" so shes fully aware that he broke his role in "eating the world" to rule the world instead, thus akatosh stripped most of his power (Thus why he is very weak in the events of skyrim vs lore. In skyrim he was just a very powerful dragon not with divine powers on his side, he literally would've stomped you like nothing if so dragonborn or not lol Alduin at full strength consumes the entire mundus system in one bite so unless the dragonborn becomes another solar system sized entity to battle him yeah.) In my opinion Akatosh sends the last dragonborn to end Alduin and mantle his position so I wouldn't be surprised if this character becomes some sort of divine aspect or Aedra/Daedra style character down the road like our buddy Sheo from Oblivion ;) (Fun fact; even aside from paarthurnax there a decent amount of dragons that live in seclusion and away from Tameriel, remember most of TES takes place on one continent and there are others that creatures like dragons and I'm sure some other wild things reside so whoever thinks that dragons are only back bc Alduin, hold your cheerios. Dragons only ever came to Tamriel fleeing the Dragonguard or technically the Tsaesci since the Dragonguard wasn't created until the races of Tameriel made their group) Side Note: It only pisses me off because I feel like the writers did the "Blades" and "The Last Dragonborn" stupid dirty in skyrim. You're a walking demi-god literally as powerful if not more so then Tiber Septim himself, the Greybeards name you Ysmir dragon of the north and so fourth not bc it sounds cool but because you are amongst the most powerful mortals to have ever walked Nirn... Practically a god among men. Delphine talks to you like your common trash. I'd love to see her talk to Martin Septim that way. Shit, he would've crushed that amulet a little early I feel... she could've been the best swordsmen to have ever blessed nirn and they wouldn't have let her in with that mouth. (I use console commands to change her armor, I refuse to let her stain the Blades armor in any way. The dishonor is real.)
I fully agree with you. Delphine isn't worthy enough to be basic city guard let alone Blades. Not to mention Her and Esbern are the dumbest living people in entire tamriel. These 2 dumbfvcks want to make Dovahkiin their personal b!tch. Dovahkiin... person that have very great chance and potential to become one of the God's or even personification of Akatosh on Nirn yet they want to fvck with dude who could erase mountains with mere shout if he train enough.
I just take them as Cosplayers, running after after a historic ideal they can never achieve, having to bully the important people into relying on them for things through theft and lying.
@@takayamuramoto4490technically speaking they are cosplayers since they havent even killed dragons before they came back😂 Blades arent even dragonslayers the dragonguard was and that was 1000 years ago with last sighting of dragons till now.
I wonder if delphine ever realized the dragonborn may have used his help but they still killed alduin and if parthanax ever falls back to his evil nature his fate would probably be similar to alduins lmao. Not only that what if the dragonborn was evil? Who would stop them? A regular dragon that's constantly getting murdered? Her dumb ass?
Dragonborn: What are the Blades' purpose again? Delphine: We are sworn to protect Septim emperors. We serve the Dragonborn. Dragonborn: EXACTLY! It's my choice to spare Gramps. He has changed! If you really hate Gramps that much, you'll let him pay for his crimes and keeping himself from doing what he likes by secluding himself atop of that mountain. Well, he's already paying for it. Think, Delphine! Think! Delphine: 😶 SPEECH INCREASED TO 100
The Blades have never obeyed the Dragonborn, they were always Snakes. The first Akaviri Dragon Guards who later became the blades, had the Dragonborn dynasty of the Remans assassinated. Later Tiber Septim dealt with many Dragons where they would be guarded so long as they served him. Immediately after Tiber passes, the Blades slaughtered those Dragons.
@@theentity1839 lol where are you getting that from? Reman III was killed by the morag tong, at the orders of the potentate. The dragonguard were barely even a thing at that stage, they were officially disbanded and vast majority just went around doing different shit. The ones around when Reman died certainly weren't the first dragonguard either, there was almost 300 years between Reman I and III dying, and the dragonguard were around for ages in akavir before that.
@@DarkAdonisVyers Just saying, it makes sense the Blades act like this in the modern day. Not saying it's okay, but the idea that the Blades are unwaveringly loyal to Dragonborn has never been true. They have always been "snakes".
There is another mod called the Parthanaax dilemma where you actually start shouting at Delphine in the dragon language and she cowers. You get the same results.
Delphine: Thats fine. We needed his help. Now we don't. I wonder when will Delphine turn on the Dragonborn once he became useless to her too. Also Delphine: He committed atrocities so infamous it's still remembered for thousands of years. Ok madame. Care to identify those atrocities? I already asked the tavern lady at Kynesgrove. She can't remember a single one or who tf is Partysnax. The Blades are nothing but a remnant of a barbaric age. Well done Thalmor for wiping them out.
The tragic thing is that the blades in cyrodill weren’t like this. Delphine and esbern are distorting the oath of the blades to suit their own vendettas and paranoia.
@Mysterious memer The Thalmor act like arrogant asses and treat everyone who is not mer as tho they're pond scum. If you read the books A Rising Threat only reason they came to power is because they came and claimed they were responsible for ending the Oblivion crisis to all their people. Once they got a bit of power they began to marginalize, exile or sometimes even kill dissenters. Before the Oblivion crisis they were seen as a fringe group of fanatics. I see many parallels between them and Nazi's, which is why I never cared for them.
I love how P is remaining happy, encouraging the dragonborn to strike, with full power, or just laughing and saying that dovahkiin has yet to learn about the dov
To be honest I don’t see any great importance for Delphine to be in the game. The head scratcher what baffles me the most is sneaking into the Thalmor Embassy just to find any information about the dragons returning when we literally saw a dragon being resurrected from the ground by another dragon, Alduin. I was dumbfounded that Delphine openly ignored what she just saw and immediately starts blaming the Thalmor any sane person would think that Alduin is behind this not the Thalmor. What the Dragonborn should of done was leave and ignore Delphine to act like a Karen while she is demanding the Dragonborn to listen to her or have the option to just kill her since she did threaten you at one point back in her inn. Which ever option you choose you would have to go back to the Grey Beards which they would later indicate to locate Alduin’s wall with the help of Paarthurnax letting you know about Alduin’s wall and eventually the shout to knock a dragon out of the sky. So basically you would need travel there alone without the blades thusly owning the place officially without both Karen and Esbern bitching at you about Paarthurnax. And eventually the Thalmor would get concerned about the dragon threat considering Alduin threatens all life and existence itself thusly they would listen to the Dragonborn during his or her speech to both sides of the war without the tedious task of wasting your time looking for information only to find absolutely nothing about the dragons in the Thalmor embassy in the first place. And as for Esbern he would still be there in the Ratway under Riften. At the end of the game Alduin defeated and Paarthurnax still alive, you would run the blades without Esbern or Karen and you would be able to recruit anyone you like in the other guilds and start a new form of order for the Blades.
@@Cyprous possibly a mod could actually accomplish this scenario. Or another thought I had just rat out the Blades to the Thalmor at the Thalmor Embassy and discuss an easier solution with the with them regarding what to do with the dragon threat.
@@dbs1013 well if the Thalmor were behind the dragons they wouldn’t said them to attack a small farming village in Skyrim most likely they would them to Solitude or the Imperial city.
This would have been so much better in the game. They could have just made it a secret that you can only get to by like having mastered a certain amount of shouts. I also would have liked it where you could actually kill Delphine and Esbern. Just to make the choices a bit more interesting.
Same feeling as "Papyrus is that you? Im going to gribbly's. You.. want.. anything?. Dust sound plays off screen Quiet literally hurts my soul all pun intended.
I love how Paarthurnax doesn't judge Blades at any point and even says that they are wise not to trust him because of his nature. This really makes Paarthurnax one of the best character in Skyrim and gives another reason why we shouldn't kill him and to tell Delphine that she should shove her quest up her ass.
"In thousands of years parthurnax could turn evil and you would be dead from old age". THAT is the point where I turn around and say "Serana could turn me into an immortal vampire, if you're certain of what you just said then guess where I'm headed next you idiots"
There was similar mod to this (I think) where Dragonborn could just intimidate Karen-Delphine and asbestos-Esbern by using similar shouts like other Greybards do that makes mountains tremble.
On 4:22 - so it means he does not see us as being of his own kind, even when he himself says to us greet him as a dovah and when we are dragon on blood and soul. Nitpicking aside, fantastic mod!
Haha fair enough, but as a non native person living in a foreign country let me just say... The DB barely speaks the dragon language, it's normal P is happy to meet his old friends he can speak dragon with and do dragon things with. The dragonborn might be the same in spirit, but he hasn't lived thousands of years, he doesn't share the story, and is after all... Not fully one of his kind lol
@@JaySerpa I concur, haha. Off course he is not the same as other dov - the dragonborn IS mortal after all. I just thought it was funny how he low key dissed the dragonborn like that.
I find Esbern's skepticism to be fair 1. Even if your dragonborn is immortal, they will most likely not be alive/around for long given the nature of elder scrolls main characters. 2. Dragonborn is a failsafe for Alduin specifically since right now he doesn't actually want to devour the world but rule instead, so Akatosh send us to him to correct him. 3. With that point, if Paarthurnax slowly or suddenly turned hostile, there wouldn't be a dragonborn readily available to counter him
Yes but if the absence of the dragonborn was reason enough for paarthunax to turn against the humans he would've done it way before the Dovahkiin showed up don't you think?
I love the way you made it so he sounds like he is enjoying the fight with you kinda going back to his nature as he fights you and also taunts you a little bit really cool definitely gonna download the mod to keep my boi alive
11:17 even when we aggressively trying to kill him, Paarthurnax still gives us advice and "cheers" for our endeavour. Only a true sociopath would not load a save during this moment..
Imagine, The elder scrolls 6 is about the war agaist the thalmor. They invaded Hammerfell again. We playing as the dragonborn again, and arriving on Odahviing to liberate the province leading an army of dragons.
Those whom overcome evil will likely never return to it. But those whom have never faced it, lived it and especially overcome it. Often never recover once fallen to it. Or follow half truth into justice. Wish it was a in game option to kill or not kill. He doesn’t deserve to die
I hate the notion that Parthurnaax is an eternal being like Alduin and that TLD is the only one who could ever kill him. He's not like Alduin, he's still just a dragon. Just a older and wiser one. Mortal people could still kill him if he actually reverted. Funny how even with a mod that expands on an already one-sided quest, the blades still end up being wrong
Mmm, I think Delphine would had put up more of a fight, needing to be convinced further and not just DB saying 'lol you serve me, get in line.' I get this mod is trying to preserve both sides, but I feel like it may need a persuasion/intimidation check for this resolution to feel more resolved or, if unable to meet the checks, go into a back and forward with both sides providing evidence and you have to make the correct choice to convince her. Just my take on it.
Yeah. Make the DB shout them down. Just a lot more aggressive like "you will let Parthanax live without harassment and you will follow my orders because I can kill you by speaking three words. Get back in line before I decide to refound the blades after the last two members of the previous order suffered a terrible accident."
Popping down these timestamps from the mod page, for those who would find it useful: 3:20 - Paarthurnax explains how he feels about the past. 5:16 - Paarthurnax explains his intentions towards the other dragons 7:11 - Delphine, recite back your freaking oath to me, and then shut up. 8:05 - Esbern uses pasive-agressiveness, it's super effective. 9:14 - Telling Paarthurnax he must pay for his crimes 10:49 - Boss fight new voice lines 11:28 Goodbye, Paarthurnax
In my first playthrough of Skyrim when I first bought it way back in the day I decided I was going to kill him cuz the blades look cool and I'm not sure if the game glitched out or what but he didn't move when I attacked him and he didn't talk he just made the generic dragon getting hurt sounds. And it made me feel so bad that I went to my last save and to this day I have never yet killed him
I would love to see this continue into the option of taking up Alduin’s reign of tyranny. The two eldest and most powerful dragons are gone. That makes the dovahkiin the strongest. It could use civil war material and lines, except maybe the blades vs. .. err.. everyone else. and lol, if a hold is taken you can choose your own housejarl. That would be hella awesome.
You know, after watching a bunch of videos about how to get around killing Paarthurnax, it occurs to me: I don't WANT these assholes on my side, even if there were any benefits to doing what they ask, and there really aren't any. Only course that makes sense is killing them off and restarting the Blades with people who will ACTUALLY serve the will of the Dragonborn. Screw these people. If there's a mod that does that, I'll install it TODAY.

You kidding? While she may have been a bit dumb to send you into the Thalmor Embassy... You get to kill Thalmor! Related to the dragons they may not be, but dicks they definitely be 😂. Whether I play Imperial or Stormcloak, one thing remains consistent in all my playthroughs: any and all Thalmor I come across end up brutally murdered.

When I do main quest I simply walk through the embassy and kill everything in under a minute, ignoring everything. having to babysit delphine while walking to the dragon burial mound and going there are the only times you really need to deal with that brainlet, you can ignore everything else she mumbles about in the background. After doing a playthrough recently I saw her and esbern walk into the council held by greybeards and I was honestly wondering who the f told them about it since it sure as hell wasn't me with me 2 lines of dialogue for them in order to progress the quest beyond their boring drivel
it’s crazy to think that paarthurnax one of the closest brothers alduin had, betrayed him because he saw the absolute fucked up atrocities alduin was implimenting and paarthurnax betrayed him and showed the nords how to shout and has the way of the voice thing with jurgen it astounds me how the devs didn’t delve deeper in this part of the storyline
The dragonborn approaches the remain blades, tears filling his/her eyes. I have done unspeakable things, I will now remain at the throat of the world and mediate there. I cannot live with myself for what I have done.
For those wondering... this is a mod for Skyrim: www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/51711/ Safe to install mid-game. Compatible with Anniversary Edition.
Paarthunax WAS a villain. Paarthunax WAS Alduin's right hand/lieutenant. He then redeemed himself by saving Merfolk. Delphine is driven by a personal goal here. She is doing it because she hates dragon not because it's the right thing to do. Forgiveness is a virtue. Everyone deserves a second chance. Heck some of you who disagree will want the same when their in the recieving end.
I have some problems with this choice, the blades (esbern and delphine) want the destruction of all dragons, paarthunax wants to teach his philosophy to the remaining dragons, so the correct thing would be for you to choose between one or the other, and not convince delphine and esbern to spare only Paarthunax's life, what about Odahviing's life? What about Durnehvirr's life? Should have a mod with the choice to be an enemy of the Blades and complete the philosophy of Paarthunaax
@@JaySerpa have you thought of using xvasynth? It's still a bit robotic specially on some male voices but could be used to spice up the spliced vanilla dialogue

Delphine's guilty of the very thing she accuses the Greybeards of. Indoctrinating the Dragonborn. Or _trying_ to. Thankfully: Alien mindset.
Well... Paarthurnax *does* warn you when you first meet him that the Blades only serve themselves and are using you as a pawn. You can choose not to believe him, but he does so much for you (and Skyrim as a whole) that it doesn't feel right to turn on him.

Just "he's bad, we're not friends anymore unless you kill him." Okay, fine. I'll go be friends with someone who *doesn't* ask me to murder my other friends.
Hell, Partysnacks elaborates more on his own crimes then the people that want you to kill him.
Hail partysnacks
Well, now we can use AI for these sorts of mods to solve these issues.

even in battle, Paarthurnax maintains the Way of the Voice. As a result, Kyne rewards this restraint with an ungodly power the likes of which no mortal would ever get to weild, used for only self defense, but primarily understanding and worship.

yeah, that dialogue doesn't work when your dragonborn becomes a vampire, thus ensuring that they can live forever, eternally being a soft check on the Blades very worry. not like it matters. Personally, I sometimes just go up there and sit on Paarthurnax's back, meditating.
Partysnaxs always felt like in all the chaos he would always be your friend he recognizes your power and honestly feels like the closest thing to family that the dragonborn has he's easily my favorite character with a compelling and motivational story of redemption and on top of that he doesn't blame anyone for wanting him dead as he acknowledges what he did as evil even driving home my favorite quote in the elder scrolls franchise

In skyrim he was just a very powerful dragon not with divine powers on his side, he literally would've stomped you like nothing if so dragonborn or not lol Alduin at full strength consumes the entire mundus system in one bite so unless the dragonborn becomes another solar system sized entity to battle him yeah.) In my opinion Akatosh sends the last dragonborn to end Alduin and mantle his position so I wouldn't be surprised if this character becomes some sort of divine aspect or Aedra/Daedra style character down the road like our buddy Sheo from Oblivion ;)
(Fun fact; even aside from paarthurnax there a decent amount of dragons that live in seclusion and away from Tameriel, remember most of TES takes place on one continent and there are others that creatures like dragons and I'm sure some other wild things reside so whoever thinks that dragons are only back bc Alduin, hold your cheerios. Dragons only ever came to Tamriel fleeing the Dragonguard or technically the Tsaesci since the Dragonguard wasn't created until the races of Tameriel made their group)
Side Note: It only pisses me off because I feel like the writers did the "Blades" and "The Last Dragonborn" stupid dirty in skyrim.

2:00 "What is better - to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" - This bit of rhetoric will be quoted for generations.
Think!

Ok madame. Care to identify those atrocities? I already asked the tavern lady at Kynesgrove. She can't remember a single one or who tf is Partysnax.
The Blades are nothing but a remnant of a barbaric age. Well done Thalmor for wiping them out.

@Mysterious memer Im coming for you
@Mysterious memer The Thalmor act like arrogant asses and treat everyone who is not mer as tho they're pond scum.
Thats pretty based
@@Cyprous possibly a mod could actually accomplish this scenario. Or another thought I had just rat out the Blades to the Thalmor at the Thalmor Embassy and discuss an easier solution with the with them regarding what to do with the dragon threat.
You sneak into the embassy to get proof that the Thalmor are behind the dragons, which is what Karen thinks. Not proof of the dragons themselves.

I'll be honest, I'd rather have a mod for Delphine and Baldy to be non-essential so I can end them XD
If you are playing on PC, you can use the console to do exactly that.
There's a lot of mods for Special Edition on PC and console that will give you that ability.
Just kill them and replace with Lydia and Cosnach. Perfectly balanced.
if you get debug menu mod on xbox you can kill essential characters.

There was similar mod to this (I think) where Dragonborn could just intimidate Karen-Delphine and asbestos-Esbern by using similar shouts like other Greybards do that makes mountains tremble.
Paarthurnax Dilemma.
What was the name of that mod, I'm kinda curious
Now esbern is called asbestos esbern for eternity
Gotta love how partysnacks warns us of our dominating nature as a dovah, and then we go and make a faction submit to us
For start, they were already submitted to us, they just forgot and then tried to murder partysnax, that is enought reason to wipe them out
On 4:22 - so it means he does not see us as being of his own kind, even when he himself says to us greet him as a dovah and when we are dragon on blood and soul.
I find Esbern's skepticism to be fair
