Hi Rob, My kitchen is rather crowded, one of the options is to put the roaster in a corner of my living room, is it ok with smoke and noise, I’ll be roasting once a day at most. Regards.
@@helmikutbi2396 I’m not sure of the layout of your home, but you will absolutely need a ventilation system. Ducting either running out of the roof or wall to the outside.
Something I never see any roasters mention which I'm hoping you can help me out with is how much has you burn through.. as in how long does your propane tank last before you need a refil based on your typical batch size and how often you roast.. just ballpark. I'm looking to get started, just working out the economics and factoring cost of gas is going to help with that a lot!
That's a good question. I don't pay much attention, but if I was to estimate I'd say I fill my 5 gallon tank every few months. But I only roast for a few hours per week, running at 80% capacity(standard batch size for most roasters). It costs me roughly $16-$20 to refill my tank. Cost if fairly minimal, but I could be better at factoring that in. I'll also say, I never never never let the take run to completely empty. My fear is that it will cut out mid roast and I'll lose the whole batch, so I refill when tank starts to feel low.
Hi there. I’m wondering if I can take some of your time in regards my 2 K Yoshan. I’m not able to get the 3-4 kpa, even tho my gas tech assures me is not the gas line pressure. Any feed back would be greatly appreciate it. Love your channel! Thanks for sharing.
I have mine set at 65 RPMs. I generally don’t go higher than that, but sometimes a little slower between 55 or 65 rpm. I read that in Scott Rao‘s book too and didn’t agree with him in relation to the Yoshan roaster.
Hi Rob, I have the same type of machine. I wonder how to get that kind of gas pressure? (Around 4 kPa) What kind of regulator do you have installed on the tank? the limit of the gas pressure that I have reaches 2 kPa with 350 psi hose… thank you
Hi i have the same machine but 1.2kg . My problem is I can't use my artisan to my laptop although i followed the procedure of my supplier. Can you help me out man? Thanks!
Hi Kuya, you have to make sure you pick the Artisan software to download that is compatible with your laptop and it's operating system. Have you see this Starter Guide. I know Michael Herbert who wrote it. He's very helpful. If this guide doesn't help you out, i can connect you two. artisan-scope.org/docs/quick-start-guide/
hey..thanks a lot.. we have similar machine.. please tell me your adjust for rpm of the drum.. and what is your hot air flow adjust..we delay more than 20m for the first crack roasting 500gm
I normally drop in a 3.6 pound charge, at 65rpm and 400 degrees. Air set to 40. Are you preheating for at least 30-45 minutes at 425-435 prior to first roast? 20m is way too long to roast any batch size. 500g is nothing. How big is your roaster?
How did you get power to your roaster? Using the transformer that sent it trips the internal breaker on my roaster. Electrician recommends not using the transformer and believes it to be the incorrect one. Thank you
Hi, nice to meet you. I wanted to ask you a question. I am interested in buying a toaster like yours, and I have been informed on alibaba from China, but I have my doubts that they will charge me tariffs, taxes, etc. From Yoshan they tell me that I don't have to pay, but I have my doubts....
You don’t have to. They include it in the shipping price. Email me and I’ll intro you to my sales rep. She can get you a discount too. Rob@ocdcoffeeclub.com
Hey there, I recently purchased the same roaster, but I’m unable to figure out how to adjust the shut off temp. The flame auto shuts off at about 220, are you able to help with adjusting to increase the shut off temp?
@@ocdcoffeeclub4796 any help would be greatly appreciated. I still haven’t been able to get the roaster going. I’ve searched everywhere for instructions and no success ☹️.
Thanks for making this video, Rob!
Genuine Origin is really good with raw coffee and price point.
Thanks for sharing your Artisan profile. I may use it as a template with a new Yoshan roaster.
You're very welcome! ;)

@@helmikutbi2396 it’s not too noisy, as you can hear from watching my videos, but if you’re married or have roommates, they might not like it.
Excellent review and I love the artisan info as was wondering how that all worked. Can see why you called yourself OCD.
Thanks Michael
Great video

what drum rpm are you using? I find Scott Rao's book saying 70-80 rpm for small roaster but that looks like a lot on my Yoshan. Thanks so much

Just got my yoshan 2kg and can’t get it to connect to artisan on my Mac, do you have any tips? Like your roasting videos.
Have you installed a driver for your mac in order to connect to artisan? Thanks in advance!
Where can I get the roasting curves?
Just curious is that the crate that the roaster came in?
Hey there, have you ever had to get support for your roaster? Wondering how did you get in touch with them?
Sure. Yoshan reps are very quick to respond and help trouble shoot.

Search Amazon for a 30 psi regulator for LP gas. That is what I currently have. I can get my KPA up to way beyond six.
