Nancy Zieman, hostess of TV’s Sewing With Nancy, brings her 3-part series on Designer Duplicates to you in this 60 minute video.
Highlights:
• Copying details from designer originals to garments you sew or serge
• Duplicating a designer blouse: adding or replicating intricate soutache braid trim
• Reproducing a designer skirt: adding a channel stitched waistband and tabs; extending a zipper into a faced waistband
• Imitating designer jackets: extending facings; adding
Ultrasuede® appliqués; creating and applying piping and knit trims; using knit collars as a waistband
• Combining blouse and vest patterns to create a blouse/vest combo
• Transferring a mock welt pocket to another pattern

Nancy was an amazing woman and teacher. Her TV show is still running on PBS, and it's the longest running show if its kind. Whether you're a beginner or an expert seamstress, you always come away having learned something. I've been watching her show since it first came on in 1982... I used to watch with my Mum all the time. Sadly, Nancy passed away in 2017, but she's still alive through her TV series, "Sewing with Nancy". 💜
I used to watch Sewing with Nancy with my grandma. They are both gone now but I am glad someone has uploaded videos of her programs, they are so useful!

About attaching the braid. I saw a hack tested by a very good sewing/refashion Teacher here on youtube just last
week. She taped a piece of UNCOOKED Penny Pasta to her sewing machine on the body, above the needle.
It fed the braid from above the machine, and her design turned out great.
I find myself listening to the theme song of sewing with Nancy. Start at the beginning.

Thanks. It's actually 1992, according to the box. This video is basically multiple SWN episodes combined -- they were probably originally aired in 1992.
