Having studied English linguistics back in the day and also having worked in an Anglo-American company for 12 years, I felt very confident with my English accent, as well as conversational skills. It would be great to speak RP with a native British woman from London, online. When I come across an unfamiliar word in English, I don’t waste time and check which vowels /ɑː/, diphthongs /əʊ/, triphthongs /aɪə/, consonant pairs /ʧ/ /ʤ/, single consonants /w/, and wich phonemes behind their spelling in a British pronunciation dictionary. For example, righteousness 🔊/ˈraɪtʃəsnəs/ becomes much easier to learn to pronounce with the help of a British pronunciation dictionary online. Orthographically, it has 13 letters, but only 8 phonemes/sounds with two beautiful Schwa Sound, and five letters are silent.
I’ve been using italki for years, and it’s a great tool to boost your language skills. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of learning from Laura and Berwyn, who are both absolutely top-notch teachers (and I tested a lot!). Do not hesitate and book a lesson with one of them. Change the language of the interface from French to English in the settings of RUclips. Video has multiple audio tracks including French, audio automatically switches to your interface language.
