This kind of redeems Rowan a bit. He actually gets wrapped up in his own bs.
He really commits to the bit... Which was his undoing!
It's my own head cannon that Rowen actually thinks he's a good boss and running a legitimate business, but the black shirt is making him do all this bad stuff. Think about it, back in the beginning of board and he had the red shirt on he was completely normal, but soon after he put the black shirt on, he started acting like, well... Rowan. Every paycut he announces he actually thinks it's a schedule change or something in his own mind, and the award ceremony episode he thought he was handing out employee of the month. We all talk about how the white and gold shirts aggressively take over the mind of the wearer and make them violent, but unaware to us, the black shirt has been subtly making him an asshole from the very beginning.
This also explains why he makes up phone calls and fakes other things, he's really hearing these things, but in reality it's just the black shirt leading the real Rowan away from the situation.
Rowan is like the less Intelligent version of Michael from the office lol
My theory is that Rowan probably went to a meeting, but does not remember anything at all about what happened, nor does he know the names of anyone from the head office. He completely zones out at those times. So he's playing catchup all the time and just believes what he's told about any prior meeting that he attended but did not listen to at all. Similar to the time when all the red shirts didn't pay attention to Rowan.
So far Ellie has gotten Rowan to give her the job, give her a huuuge pay rise, and now a month of paid leave 😂 She really knows how to work past his bs, I love it lmao
That's what they want you to think, plot twists they are doing it for something else
