All in all, would you still recommend Atlas and World Voyager? I just booked the “Drake Express” for next December on the same ship. We fly from Punta Arenas over the Drake Passage and join the ship at King George Island. No risk of Drake Shake that way! We fly back to Punta Arenas too.
It was the best thing I've ever done, I reflect on this experience often. Such a great time. I made more videos on the trip if you're curious, the food was amazing and the staff so wonderful. I also enjoyed the Drake Shake 🤣
The snow is crazy!! How fun!! so weird to see snow on a cruise ship! 😆🎉🎉🎉 I would definitely be out there playing in the snow. ⛄️ I would also be sitting at the window watching the waves like you! 😆 I live in tornado alley and I’m always at the window watching the clouds because I love extreme weather. 😆
I enjoyed the "Drake Lake" on my southbound journey; however we paid the price on the northbound return. 10-meter waves don't compare to what you were hit with. But, I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.
Dude: Making the best out of a bad situation is one thing…But seriously taking a stroll on the slippery deck whilst the boat is rocking & rolling, in a short sleeve shirt…in the snow…is just reckless and foolhardy.
They should have secured the furniture a little bit better I've been on a cruise ship and I have worked on a tanker Stoke Nelson and it does get lots of waves out there there's many oceans in the ocean is unpredictable
To me, your video was great! There are those who live to complain, and then there are those who live to enjoy! I will be going in February 2025, and i am looking forward to my Antarctica trip and the Drake passage! Amazing 😂
@@edsmith8414 haha 💯, there are definitely some, uh, 'interesting' let's say comments. I had a blast and I hope you enjoy the Drake Shake if it comes your way. Antarctica was an absolute dream I'm excited for you to experience it!
@@lashadi1445 it's a one day turn around it's insane. But we made friends on the ship crew, they said a few days later there were issues so they had to turn around 😅 the cruise after this featured Diplo and Flume so they had to be sure it was safe I guess 🤣
These tourists’ ships to Antartica don’t seem to have a reliable security protocol. If you go on this trip with the Navy, everything is striped down to the necessary and tied down inside the ship.
Honestly it was shocking because in every other aspect the cruise was professional and they had high regard for preserving nature. Lots of strict protocols. But clearly not prepared to avoid littering the ocean 😅
wow id be terrified. and id hate it as would not be able to go out on deck for a cigarette. i know most people would say big deal to that, but it would def put a real damper on our cruise, even though id totally understand why i wouldnt be allowed on deck.

However now the focus is to travel longer term and the keys to that are: Destination - certain places are simply cheaper, India, Iran, Phillipines, Indonesia, most of South East Asian honestly. Less cheap but not that expensive is eastern Europe, Bolivia, Paraguay. Otherwise I strongly recommend Couchsurfing for accomodation, hitchhiking and volunteering whilst travelling. I just spent 10 days at a monastery in Ladakh volunteering
20m waves vs the Atlas World Voyage ship that is on the smaller size of the explorer cruises at 129m long at 10,000 gross tons would be scary ride, next time consider the SB Pursuit ship at 169m long at 23,6150 gross tons, would handle that 20m wave.
If you have any questions about the tour let me know ☺️
Price? Did they discuss antarctic treaty?
@@MyFriendlyPupI got a last minute deal for $3,500 I show more about the boat in the first video if you're curious 😊
And they did discuss the treaty, we had lots of really interesting lectures
how long was port to port across the drake passage?
were you scared?
Snow in Antarctica who would have thought.. Why so surprised?
Haha, what can I say, seeing snow on a boat made me happy. I bought the ticket last minute and had no idea what to expect ☺️
Well, snowing is VERY rare in Antarctica. The snow that's there has existed for a long time. Antarctica is a desert! Precipitation is Very less there.
It’s wild that they didn’t stack up and secure furniture
Yeah... Aspects of this cruise were not well organized
I feel like he gets a bit distracted looking at his own face on camera.

I just decided to read about Antarctica! If I encounter snow in my reading, I'll just turn the page! 😂
I'm suprised you didn't go out on the deck with snow during the passage.
I did haha what do you mean?
How many passengers washed over. No one to be seen after storm.
No injuries, everyone was safe. The crew seemed unperturbed by the conditions

Atlas World Voyager - the first video in the series shows the ship in more detail before the bad weather

Atlas World Voyager early December 😊
You mad bloke, thank you for that. ❄
That’s why you travel into Antarctica with a true expedition company on an expedition ship, not with a luxury cruise line on an unsuitable vessel.
I went with the cheapest option ☺️
wonder why they use glassware on cruises to antarctica. wouldn't plastic or wheat plates be safer

When ships are designed by those that have not been to sea
