    I get that Shilo doesn't care for VPin, but this is a miss. At $200 MSRP, this could have had a playable lcd screen with attract modes. Of course it couldn't be a 1/6 scale mechanical and functional table; that would be a tech support nightmare, but a mini VPin with some attact modes built in would have hit the spot so much more and justify the price. I appreciate the time and effort of the recreated 3D playfield, but the novelty is going to wear off quick with just a few light and sound modes. Maybe the right answer is to offer both versions...a VPin or a Diorama piece?

    I think they’re disappointed and people who collect like me are running out of space. This is the first new wave toy. I did not pre-order. I’m starting to think what am I gonna do with 30 mini arcades anyway, I buy something they sit on the shelf then they get dusty and eventually one day they get sold, I’m starting to not buy everything that drops specially something that doesn’t do anything

    I understand the non playable and am fine with that, but going by the video they put out the gameplay attract mode just appears to be noises and lights. I think what I would want out of simulated gameplay is that the bumpers react, the flippers flip, the targets drop. I know its a prototype and those things might come on down the line, but these are things putting me off. It would be like having one of the replicates have a static screen and just play the gameplay sounds, its ok but its not what people have come to expect from a NWT product

    I also think for what it is it’s a little expensive and I don’t think they’re gonna sell well I’m almost sure next Black Friday these will be on sale for $99 with free shipping and then I may grab one. Not even sure if I want to at that point. Eventually things just become a dust magnet.

      I look at as a premium model I put on a shelf to look at (think Autoart diecast cars). I bet they will sell a fair amount.

    For $200 definitely it should have been playable. A full mechanical pinball at that size probably impossible. Here’s what they should do. Recessed LCD to give a depth of feel. Bumpers could be physical on top the play field that light up at the appropriate time. Maybe real mini flippers that move with digital game underneath. What they’re offering sound like a Hallmark ornament marked up 4x

    For everyone who says it’s $200, that’s true only if you don’t use the code they provide on their website for 20% off. Brings it to $160 and I don’t mind that’s it’s not playable. Most people have them as limited edition displays

    I don’t think the physics would work on something that small. The could make it virtual, but you can get a better playing experience with other options that are out there!

    I couldn’t disagree with you more. 100% of NWT and NS Cabs are playable (Polybius is a USB hub). Why do these companies make their cabs playable to begin with? Answer, because the majority of people want to have workable, playable arcade cabs. I own all NWT cabs and NS and mine are played. Non-playable = non-starter.

  • @Jay_J
    @Jay_J 11 месяцев назад +1

    I didn't really hear anything about these until a day or two before they had this announcement, so like all the other New Wave "cabs" I assumed it would be playable in some manner as well.
    At $200 + tax (I assume free shipping?) to pre-order a fancy paperweight or diorama piece, it's a hard NO for me.
    It does look cool, and I love the Black Hole pinball game, but they should have been more transparent up front with the real capabilities of this ahead of time.

    • @ThorKCade
      @ThorKCade 11 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure how much more “ahead of time” they could possibly be? This is first announcement and pre-order-the actual product is at least 9 months away.

  • @videogamevegas

    19kfox,
    I actually left you a comment about this in you AVP video, but glad you got to see this. Some made fun of me when I suggested that New Wave Toys could make a functioning one using BB's as Pinballs, but wow, to actually function mechanically might take years of engineering. What I then envisioned was they'd do what ToyShock did, just in 1/6th scale, a hybrid doing a VPin LCD screen for the playfield, and then do a realistic backbox. So it would be playable, but have as much real components as it could. I actually wasn't expecting something not playable, but I'm more like you. I don't play my miniature machines, I add them to my arcade for the attract mode and it gives me the feeling, at least, of having more machines in my Home Arcade.
    As I mentioned in my other comment, I reached out to New Wave Toys and suggested they might add a USB power hub to the back, maybe 6 or 8 ports to power my other New Wave Toys machines. I think more people might be interested if it had additional practical functionality. Either way, I pre-ordred mine as the decorative aspect works for me.
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
    vgv

      That would have been cool if they used BB's as pinballs. That's what I remember inside many mini palm-sized tables back in the day. I understand they couldn't do all the mechanics on the Black Hole table in that scale, but at least let us pull back the plunger, knock around a ball, and have some flipper action.

    • @videogamevegas
      @videogamevegas 11 месяцев назад +1

      Widow,
      I had many of those palm sized machines, mainly of the Pachinko variety. Those mini BB's could move. And that's why I put it in the maybe category. But I didn't know if the physics would feel the same. Size of ball to size of machine ratio might not be enough to emulate close enough to the real thing and I think that's what New Wave Toys has always tried to pride themselves on. It would be an engineering feat for sure :)
      So that brings me to my idea of adding a USB power hub. The more I buy of these things, the more hubs I continue to need. I think that would elevate this product to the moon and would make this a 2.0 version of their Hubs for sure.
      Great ideas!
      vgv

      @WIDOW.OFFICIAL 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@videogamevegas I totally agree with you that the physics wouldn't feel the same. Yet a scaled-down version of mechanical pinball would have been cool even if it didn't have all the features of the original table. It's a shame at least they couldn't have put an HDMI out for a Vpin version of Black Hole allowing you to use the mini plunger and flippers to control the Vpin on an external display.

      On a further note, you “can” have playable. Get yourself a ALP micro, buy some legs, and get Black Hole skins for the cabinet. Select Black Hole pinball game and voila.
      Of course, you’re now at $500.

      Yeah, I’m especially disappointed in the lack of playability since I thought the MiniPins would see MORE play than my other Replicades, BUT if we are being honest, I don’t play any of my Replicades nearly as much as I enjoy them for attract mode and tiny detailing-which this has!
      I think most of us understand that, at 1:6 scale, SOMETHING would have to get compromised….And considering that anyone with an Android or iPhone can already play the virtual pin version of this gam FOR FREE, I think losing the playability is better than compromising elsewhere. 🤷‍♂️

I think I've only played them right after I took them out of the box, after that they have their little spot in the corner of my arcade. I don't see all the fuss about this pinball be nonplayable because if you were buying these things to play you are probably the only person on the planet that is doing so.
