21:54 If Anthony Starr gets snubbed and doesn't get an Emmy nomination, like Paddy Constandine as King Viserys in HotD, I'm NEVER watching The Emmys again! I'll KNOW the fix is in, even though the show itself has been nominated.
My current theory about Butcher is along the lines of the combo of the temp v and real v created a parasite and it works kind of like if Venom was a secret from Eddie or the Hulk. I suspect that Sage's plan was for Annie to kill Firecracker and it didn't go right which is why she was more or less ready for that ending. My only question about Annie and the abortion is kind of, um, how? They had to use a blowtorch to get her tracker out.
I don't think Firecracker's crime is supposed to be 'forgiven' (no pun intended) by her religious conversion (which I don't think she had), I think it's supposed to be a demonstration of the power of tribalism. Or it could be the Fundamental Attribution Error - any faults or problems you have are a result of personal failings, and any faults or problems I have are a result of unfortunate circumstances ie if you're late, it's because you're lazy, if I'm late, it's because of bad traffic.
I mean it’s just like the left doing mental gymnastics to make taking the life of a baby the same thing as throwing out an old coffee. People are quicker to forgive you if you are on their side which is kind of a dangerous thing
I like how people defend Frenchie because he pouts a little… I mean the guy killed his entire family and the. Thought it was a good idea to also take advantage of him… probably the worst thing any non super hero has done on the show
Ever notice that everyone that has been given V has either a lack of empathy or an exaggerated aggressive response to situations? Seems like people miss the subtle detail that Ryan isn't warped in the same fashion as the artificially created supes
my theory is that the parasite butcher had from the temp V got powers from the real V he took and since it needs butcher to survive it saved his life when he was choking to death
My guess is that Butcher has telepatrhic/telekinetic powers. He was found in the same position waking while being choked, so he did not move during the blackout yet the guy exploded which feel very telekinetic power, especialy combined with the brain worm and having projection of his wife (which might be an expression of his power and not just him losing his mind and having "normal" person type of hallucination.
33:44 I love this for Firecracker. She's such a vile amalgam of a bunch of racist Right-Wing Harpies. At least Stormfront was a funny Nazi. 37:26 Sage is fast becoming on of my favourite characters. I would hope that she does a Face-Turn at some point, but this ain't Ted Lasso and that red stuff ain't barbecue sauce. 42:15 Since she already works for Vought as a snake-oil Avon Lady, I'm thinking she also has a line on The Good Stuff. 42:50 I love that shot, it's very "American Psycho". He's just a Happy Camper, rockin' and a-rollin'. 😆
I Have a Couple theory's When Butcher took the V After his Brain matter/Cancer from the 24 hour V. That the Normal V Is slowly Turning that Brain cancer into a Parasite and Butcher's Visions are the Parasite communicating with Billy. (And that Parasite is Slowly Fusioning to his spinal Cord Becoming Part of Butcher making Him a supe as the Brain damage is healing) Also Huey's father (The actor was the inspiration for The boys comic Huey)
Homelander scenes totally inspired by the Nuremberg trials. The Nazi's who were captured also said they were "following orders" and no one stopped to think about if it was wrong. Homelander only tortures people cuz they did it to him. The bad guys and terrorist he did kill, shouldn't be on the earth. Here there is no right and wrong, only action and reaction. If you don't like the reaction, don't commit the action (bully, harm, torture, laugh at ect) Homelander did kill innocent people too, not saying he's scott free. But he probably wouldn't have if they gave him the Superman childhood.
Stormfront got the original version of the V from her husband Frederick Voght. That's why she dosent age like Homelaner is basically because she got an untainted version of the serum.
Btw.: i just recently got aware that not only Simon Pegg played in JJ-Trek (Scotty) but also Karl Urban played Dr. McCoy. He also even playe Ceasar in Xena, but that i already new a bit longer.
I think Butchers story is mimicking a story they did in the boys cartoon, where a janitor at vought gave his dying wife some V, but the V attached to the cancer and basically turned his wife into a monster. I think the V butcher took attached to whatever was going on inside of him, and that’s why the attack only happened after it reached his eye and was exposed to the outside
When we got that black mass moving about in the scene with Ezekiel, I knew we had another Sun-Hee situation. The confirmation that Butcher shot up some V before the season started was just that, confirmation.
I think Huey had injected the V into the IV before the scene started. The regular V either works on adults, like Kimiko and her brother, or the subject explodes.
Huey shaking hands with A Train is what seals his fate. Homelander will smell him. First he will smell A Train and Ashley in his apt., then will smell Huey when he confronts him. IMO
Random trivia: octopus blood is not red, it's blue because it contains copper instead of iron. Though I don't know if the show would pay that much attention to detail.
Hughie does not know that his dad wishes to die. Only that the mother who abandoned him (and may collect his life insurance) says that is what he wanted.
The show parallels mainstream superhero characters. Homelander/Superman Maeve/Wonder Woman Etc. Im wondering if Butcher might be lke the Hulk or Venom and the "Other Guy" is communicating to him through the dead wife visions.
While I agree Ryan would tell if Butcher was lying about ''having to much sugar'' and he could smell the normal ingredients in the cookies compared to when his mom made them. Carfentanil (Used on Large Animals for surgery) Has Zero smell or taste to it. (Even the Human version Fentanyl has no Taste or smell... At least not when I was using. ... I Stopped that llife.9 years clean! and Proud to be sober) . Ryan did like the fact that Butcher was being real. and Treating Ryan as a person not a thing Like everyone in Vought Seems to. Thats how you get his trust. Home lander is a terrible father. I think Ryan will after a bit Leave the Tower!
Turns out Homelander has more in common with Soldier Boy. Torture and problems with disappointment. Interesting. Barbara, the director is a very interesting, no-nonsense character and opens a window on the twisted view Homelander was given of a powerful women who was also a mother figure to him.
Ouch! This episode hit on a lot of real world issues. On a personal level I can relate to a few things. I'm from El Paso, TX. If only we had a Starlight on that day. My very first thought was that mother would probably be cool with loosing her sight if it saved her kids. Big feelings about that. I have had to sit next to someone I knew had an abortion while her dad went on and on repeating angry right wing talking points about abortion. He had no idea. He was so into his tirade that he didn't even notice the crumbling poker face she was trying to maintain. Finally without going into detail, I found out about someone close to the family who has done some very un-Christian things but in his eyes it was okay as long as he didn't cross certain lines and prayed for forgiveness afterward. He's blind now. I allow him to believe this is Jesus's answer to his prayers. This episode had be really thinking about the consequences of our actions and inaction. Don't forget to vote!!!!
This episode had me seriously depressed afterwards. L after L for the good guys and my hatred for Firecracker skyrocketed way out of the known universe. Homelander’s arc was peak TV though. Perhaps the only time I cheered for him.
This was beautifully done. Dare i say, i think i like homelander more after this episode?! Maybe not like but i completely understand him now and why the way he is. Childhood trauma. This show is on a whole other level i love it !
On political commentary: You're correct to point out that "The Boys" has offered a biting commentary since Season 1. What's remarkable to me is realizing that Kripke and co. have to work hard to outpace the absurdity of our actual situation. Also, shout out for your ability as a reactor to balance compassion and humor, while giving the very serious social undercurrents their due. Most uncomfortable: watching Homelander torture the lab staff. Most satisfying: Kimiko giving Annie a hug after Firecracker divulging her abortion.
45:50 But if his super power would be joint regeneration could he also infinitely smoke a joint with it constantly regenerating as he smokes it? Or are we only counting bodily joints here?
38:14 / 57:36 *Fun fact. I just learned yesterday that in the comics, Deep is the most mature and level-headed member of the Seven.* The complete opposite of the dumb goofball he is in the show. That was shocking to me. He is also black. It's my understanding that he still does some fucked up things, but he is by far the most serious member. I wonder why the showrunner decided it completely flip his character. Either way, it worked!
What I love about this episode is that, it's not to get you to side with Homelander, you can certainly empathise even with someone like HL, but this was basically about HL shedding what little humanity in him He had left. And that He is only a product of the evil that Vought truly are. They tortured and abused a child for the sake of the military industrial complex, and they did it with a smile. In trying to create the best in humanity, HL was raised to see the worst in it. I am interested in what's happening with Butcher though
37:45 i feel like homelander doesn't necessarily know her brain regenerates, so if he was to try to kill her in the usual way, it might not actually work, since her eyes seem to also regenerate??
I like hearing your perspective of what you think will happen before the show, and after the show, so yes I watched the first 15 and was definitely still here lol!
I understand why you got emotional at the oven scene. Its hardbreaking to realize that this worlds greatest hero is also its greatest villain but soul crushing to remember that he is also its greatest victim
Not sure how Hughie's mom would know he had the V in his pocket, I think she brought some herself. She said she worked for Vought with potions and healing medicine. She might have had access to V a long time ago and kept some.
I see a lot of people getting confused about what a DNR actually is. All it means is the person does not want CPR done if they go into cardiac arrest (which has not happened to Hughie's dad). It's not a blanket rejection of all medical care, just CPR specifically.
It does also apply to breathing machines, etc. You can choose the levels that you want. He's a true DNR, that we know of, meaning zero measures taken to save. Brain death would DEF be in that spectrum.
I forget how good your reactions are. I watch very, very little TV so a lot of your content is unfamiliar to me, but every time you cover something I know I am reminded how much I like the channel. Keep it up!
The Frenchie thing is a bit... Dunno... They kinda were building up this romance between him and Kimiko for 3 seasons. Yes, Frenchie is poly and bi, we knew that much, but that doesn't mean he couldn't settle down with someone that he strongly loved, bringing him closer to understand MM. But instead they introduce this new guy, completely out of the blue, and kinda shove that whole romance thing with Kimiko out of the way in favor of someone they haven't even mentioned once throughout the whole show. I think it would've been perceived better if they had those Starlight House characters in at the very least season 3 already in some way instead of blindsiding people with it. Not sure if Kessler is dead, that's not really important for him potentially being Butcher's little devil, though the story of Butcher pulling him out seemed like a good narrative plant to circle back to later when they reveal that Kessler did not make it. The parasite is a curious case though... Like, where did he get it? What is it? Is it actually a power from him taking the permanent V? And if so, why is it different to the temp V powers he had? So far it seemed like the powers are based on a person's genetics so that would kinda throw a wrench in that theory. The only other thing I can think of is that he maybe got infected back in Russia. They already had a V'ed up hamster so it isn't too unlikely that they had some other creatures in that lab that they might've accidentally freed during the chaos. 55:08 "People like what I have to say. They believe in it. They just don't like the word Nazi." Some people needing 4 seasons to realize that this show is woke and makes fun of them is just so ironic.
A thing that you bring up with Ryan and the cookies, Ryan knows Butcher is lying about the sugar. Ryan definitely knew something was up with the cookies but he didn’t really push Butcher for the truth when he threw them out, because Ryan knew it didn’t matter what was in them because Butcher eventually threw them out. If Butcher tried to get Ryan to eat a cookie again then I think Ryan would press Butcher for the truth
If you really want an idea of what happens to Hughie's father rewatch the trailer for season 4. You'll see Hughie and his mother on the far left and the far right of the screen respectively, Hugh walks down the hospital corridor, slowly. It says an awful lot. 🧟♀🧟♂

Antony Starr is awesome and that's always be a given (watch Banshee !), but kuddo to Jessie T. Usher ! A-train has mad charisma in this season Oo !
21:54 If Anthony Starr gets snubbed and doesn't get an Emmy nomination, like Paddy Constandine as King Viserys in HotD, I'm NEVER watching The Emmys again! I'll KNOW the fix is in, even though the show itself has been nominated.
i am so proud that you figured out what Huey was planning from the start... good call
Damn being a nocturnal hamster is really paying dividends. 4 am uploads letsgooooo
Hate to break it to you, you're actually a gerbil 😂
As an overnight worker I totally agree with you 💥
My current theory about Butcher is along the lines of the combo of the temp v and real v created a parasite and it works kind of like if Venom was a secret from Eddie or the Hulk.
I suspect that Sage's plan was for Annie to kill Firecracker and it didn't go right which is why she was more or less ready for that ending.
My only question about Annie and the abortion is kind of, um, how? They had to use a blowtorch to get her tracker out.
hard outside mushy inside? like translucent?
I don't think Firecracker's crime is supposed to be 'forgiven' (no pun intended) by her religious conversion (which I don't think she had), I think it's supposed to be a demonstration of the power of tribalism. Or it could be the Fundamental Attribution Error - any faults or problems you have are a result of personal failings, and any faults or problems I have are a result of unfortunate circumstances ie if you're late, it's because you're lazy, if I'm late, it's because of bad traffic.
Yup, total hotshot hypocrisy
*Y U M M E R S*
my theory is that the parasite butcher had from the temp V got powers from the real V he took and since it needs butcher to survive it saved his life when he was choking to death
or maybe the combination of the temp and real V created the parasite
My guess is that Butcher has telepatrhic/telekinetic powers. He was found in the same position waking while being choked, so he did not move during the blackout yet the guy exploded which feel very telekinetic power, especialy combined with the brain worm and having projection of his wife (which might be an expression of his power and not just him losing his mind and having "normal" person type of hallucination.
Best ep of season 4 up to now (IMO). Dark...but compelling.
22:12
Last time A Train saw Kimiko, she gave him a compound fracture.
Hughie is no dummy.
If you don't like the reaction, don't commit the action (bully, harm, torture, laugh at ect)
Homelander did kill innocent people too, not saying he's scott free. But he probably wouldn't have if they gave him the Superman childhood.
Something about the way Franks body *drops* after all is said and done is HAUNTING
Simon Pegg was also in one of the most famous zombie films, "Shaun Of The Dead". Maybe something to bear in mind...
My god Antony Star is unbelievable.
When we got that black mass moving about in the scene with Ezekiel, I knew we had another Sun-Hee situation. The confirmation that Butcher shot up some V before the season started was just that, confirmation.
I think Huey had injected the V into the IV before the scene started. The regular V either works on adults, like Kimiko and her brother, or the subject explodes.
it might just be falafel but i've been smelling an emmy nomination for simon pegg this season!
Homelander/Superman
Maeve/Wonder Woman
Etc.
I wanna see more Hughie/Kimiko scenes now. Their chemistry is unique, and something we haven't seen a lot of. More of that please! \m/
This show is on a whole other level i love it !
nice react video, Antony is almost an oscar level actor and wasn't nomited to a single freakin Emmy
Either way, it worked!
this was probably the most tense hour of television i've seen
Wished that Homelander kid scenes were on screen during all that ,it would have been more effective. Antony Starr is AMAZING
"coffee makes me feel less murdery!" should I be concerned by that???
I think you should be concerned at what makes me feel more murdery
@@funnylilgalreacts MOMMYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!😭😭😭😭😭
I had anxiety attacks every Homelander scenes 🫠
Homelander not dying this season that’s all ima say lol 😂
they dont give the go ahead for another season until they see the initial audience for the first 3 episodes
They already did a month before this came out
I like hearing your perspective of what you think will happen before the show, and after the show, so yes I watched the first 15 and was definitely still here lol!
Butcher has his own little Symbiote
I know one thing they better kill off Firecracker at the end of this series
I understand why you got emotional at the oven scene. Its hardbreaking to realize that this worlds greatest hero is also its greatest villain but soul crushing to remember that he is also its greatest victim
Homelander has never been the worlds greatest hero lol.
Its greatest victim? Really? Oh boo hoo.
@@flaggerify okay MF you try being physically and mentally abused basically from birth and not becoming a monster
@@hall1739 who if not him?
Not sure how Hughie's mom would know he had the V in his pocket, I think she brought some herself. She said she worked for Vought with potions and healing medicine. She might have had access to V a long time ago and kept some.
I truly believe Anthony Star would make a great joker
Great Reaction Angela 😊
Anytime homelander is on screen it’s the best part of the episode
💯
The only parts of this season worth watching. For the most part, I have to skip past the other boring characters.
“I’ve been talking for… 15-minutes?! Are you still here?!!!” I’m sorry, I fast forwarded. 😭
I think Butcher has some type of Venom inside him.
THE BOYSSSSS!!!!
Okay as a dad the dead dads comment is scary, my kids only three 😭
In fairness to Hughie, I think most people who sign a DNR do so with the understanding that there's no potential miracle cure for their condition.
They just don't like the word Nazi."
Some people needing 4 seasons to realize that this show is woke and makes fun of them is just so ironic.
Ryan could both smell whatever was in the cookies and hear butchers heartbeat as he was lying to him

If you really want an idea of what happens to Hughie's father rewatch the trailer for season 4. You'll see Hughie and his mother on the far left and the far right of the screen respectively, Hugh walks down the hospital corridor, slowly. It says an awful lot. 🧟♀🧟♂
