a lovely tour of Père Lachaise. I've been a few times myself but you can never ever see everything and I made a few discoveries thanks to you. Many, many thanks my friend - you're doing a great job for your English speaking friends! And congratulations to your second baby-girl.....
If i ever come to visit this beautiful cemetery, i hire you as my gide 😊 It's very nice to listen to your voice and your knowledge about this cemetery. Thanks for sharing.
I lkived in Wales from 1986-1990... in 1987 my friend and went to Paris for 2 weeks.. we were able to sit at Jim Morrison's grave and a bust of him was there ... we stayed for a couple hours one day and like an hour the next day hardlly anyone else came by.. it was beautiful there and loved the tombs and history
Just came upon your channel last night and have subscribed and have set for notifications, now to relax and enjoy the city of lights and never ending wonder!
The cemetery in Buenos Aires (Argentina) called La Recoleta, were EVITA and many other famous people are buried, has many buildings and statues like this one in Paris.
Beautiful tour, thank you. I was there in 2016 - and visited Heloise & Abelard, and Edith Piaf's Grave. BTW, Oscar Wilde's tomb has glass coverage because people are constantly kissing the stone which will then need to be cleaned. I would love to come on one of your tours next time I am in Paris
You seem like a nice happy normal guy....that in itself is a gift to watch....good luck and congrats on your baby and love to your wife....it sounds like you both did very well in each other... a very good trip in my memory to Père....Highgate, Berlin and here.......
I toured this cemetery in 2016 and will return again this year. I enjoyed this video very much...good memories. The Passy Cemetery (near Eiffel Tower) is worth a visit , too. There you will find graves of Debussy, Gabriel Faure.. and others. Again, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment. I agree the Passy cemetery is fantastic and it’s certainly on my list for a future live tour episode. Manet is also buried there and his tomb looks dynamite against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. Have a great day!
Watched again and so enjoyable. I chuckled when in front to the Gaumont tomb you say......"l should point out right off the 'bat"..... lol The map guide they provide is useful... somewhat, but we managed to find the graves we wanted to see.
Really amazing tour Sir!👍 🇫🇷 My great grandfather Leon Mirman is buried there, would be unbelievable if you got a video of his tomb next time your there. We have never seen it!❤
@@afrenchfryeinparis Our records mention the burial at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery in 1941 of Mr Léon MIRMAN in the funerary concession No. CPL 01094 PP 1879. This concession is located in the 64th division of the cemetery. To locate it, count: - 1 line starting from 65th division then - 10 graves starting from 63rd division

I visited Paris and toured Pere Lachaise in 2018. I saw the grave sites I came to see but our pop up, impromptu guide spoke very little English. Enjoyed your video.
Thanks for that I appreciate it. Yeah a guide that you can’t understand well is a challenge. I’ve had strangers show up for my tours before and immediately say “oh thank god you’re a native speaker”.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that every time I go through there, even though I’m supposed to “know” the cemetery as a tour guide, I always discover something new. I’m glad you watched this and I hope you can join me live for a future video!
I'm planning a trip to Paris for 2022 and this will be definitely on my list of places too visit. My question is, if there is a gate around Jim Morrison's grave (to prevent trespassers), how are there flowers and gifts left there? I didn't think you were allowed too leave things? If someone knows please let me know. Thanks.
Thank you for another well-done video. Jim Morrison was buried in a cheap veneered coffin, costing his girlfriend a paltry 366 FF. Two shield markers (with Jim's surname miss-spelled "MORISSON" were placed on the grave in 1971 & 1972; both were stolen. On Jul 2/81 a white bust was installed; The Doors visited the grave on the day after, the 10th anniversary of Jim's death. The bust took an awful beating from so-called fans & was in bad shape when it too was stolen, in 1988. In 1991 Jim's parents put up a stone monument bearing the Greek saying "KATA TON DAIMONA EAYTOY", which is open to two interpretations, TO THE DIVINE SPIRIT WITHIN HIMSELF (Old Greek), or more appropriately, HE CAUSED HIS OWN DEMONS (New Greek).
I re-watched this video to get some pointers, and I thought I remembered you descending into an underground “room” that was actually a mausoleum. Am I crazy?
Cameron Carr No you’re not crazy 😊 What you’re referring to is Episode #63 at Passy Cemetery. The mausoleum is shown around the 35:00 mark. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! I think I know which tomb you’re talking about. Next time you’re there check for it here in the center of the cemetery, near where the Chemin des Chèvres meets Chemin Molière et la Fontaine.
Oh you didn't show my favorite tombstone - the one of Joseph Croce-Spinelli and Theodore Sivel. The two men who went up in a hot air balloon, and when the balloon came down, they were dead.
I see what you mean - and I wouldn’t necessarily hang out there at night! But during the day there’s so much sculpted beauty all around. It’s like an outdoor art gallery and I always find something new each time I walk through. Thanks for watching!
What are you talking about?Dracula there? lol. I was born in Vlad Tepes town and i assure you that Vlad s body was never found. Some say that it is buried at Snagov, but nothing is sure.Don t lie the viewers for likes. And btw, Dracul was his father Mircea cel Batran .
Hi Dan, thanks for watching. In my tours I always aim to distinguish historical fact from legend. When I tell a story that isn’t provable, I try to be clear that it’s a legend and an interesting story, nothing more. I didn’t invent the Dracula/Père Lachaise legend - other guides, authors, bloggers, etc. have shared this idea including Jacques Sirgent who owns the Vampire Museum of Paris and is considered an expert in vampire lore. That doesn’t mean the story is true; it only means that it’s an interesting piece of the cemetery’s overall character. Paris is full of unproven legends that tour guides talk about every day (Man in the Iron Mask, treasure of the Knights Templar, secret assassinations, lovers of Marie Antoinette, etc). As long as these stories aren’t presented as historical fact, I think they’re a wonderful part of the intrigue of Paris. Have a great day!

That's just great ........the families who built Paris but you're taking us to Jim Morrison.
For the Camera tomb, the legs of the table, which seems to be a photo album, are old style coffin shaped.
I'm planning a trip to Paris for 2022 and this will be definitely on my list of places too visit. Everyone just jumped the gate. Left my padlock " lock of love" on the gate ♥️
Thank you.
Henk Bakker You're welcome thanks for watching.
J'adore J'adore J'adore! Tres Beau❤
Many thanks for that. Hope you can join next week for another episode.
It´s really an amazing place!!!!!
Can someone please explain how these tiny, skinny mausoleums are used? I've never seen them before. Thank you.
Mostly for surviving family members to pay their respects. There are often small altarpieces and stained glass inside them. Thanks for watching!
This Cemetery remains me of the Cemetery that appears in the 2004 Film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera.
hey bud love it
I would love a tour with you from pere lachaise
