Sometimes you get tired and sometimes there’s number to number traffic. You sounds like you never used autopilot before. There’s one time me and my wife was dead tired and she was sleeping in the passenger seat and I was going in and out of consciousness so I put my Tesla in autopilot and we got home safely. I could have parked in the freeway and take a nape but with auto pilot I don’t need to. Also sometimes you want to open the water bottle you can engage autopilot and use two hands safely. Before this update where you get banned for not paying attention there was a guy driving the next lane to mine eating a cup noodle while on autopilot.
I don't think this is accurate, mine will overtake cars on the highway and also leave the highway's exit, etc. It will also auto park on most occasions.
Didn't really explain the difference too well. Autopilot stays in the lane you're on, thats it. It slows or speeds up if the car in front of you slows or speeds up. It disengages if you switch lanes, it will not stop for traffic lights, doesn't take you were navigation is set. FSD on the other hand, basically drives the car itself, switching lanes passing slower cars, stopping at red lights, going on green, waits for its turn at stop signs. Stops for people crossing, and it knows where to go based on navigation, can travel parking lots, and park when prompted.
There is a huge difference. Autopilot is much less accurate, you experience many more interventions. Things like floating into turn lanes instead of keeping straight, hugging the median, etc. Still very good, but FSD eliminates 90% of that. If you haven’t tried it yet, you really should.
I probably would if it was available outside the US 😂 Do you know if the intel models can display FSD in full screen or are they not powerful enough for the full screen display during FSD + Parking?
