great hotel....love the beds in the pool! the swim up bar is cool... :) like the open style of the whole property.....clean and simple....! you picked a good place for sure!!!! thanks for taking us with you! ;)
We really liked the way the resort was laid out - it was very easy to learn your way around and get to everything. Literally the most conveniently designed layout we have seen. We had a great time there, and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful! Thanks for watching!
@@jackstevenson5600 Suits weren’t required, just a collared shirt and long pants, and just for dinner. Otherwise, you could dress as casual as you wanted to.
This looks a lot like Riu Republica in Punta Cana. That one is adults only. Loved it. Anyway, I’m going to Riu Dunamar next month for my bday. Can’t wait!
I really only like the RIU Palace properties. The non Palace RIU resorts are always much more crowded with many more children and overall not as nice. I have visited many RIU resorts and the Dunamar looks like one of the nicer non palace RIUs out there. Thanks for the great footage.
We liked having the privilege of using all the facilities at the Dunamar, but having seen both, we definitely liked our resort more. Thanks again for watching!
Ever stayed in riviera maya and what is that like compared to this? I’ve stayed at Barcelo maya previously and enjoyed it so was looking to go back to Rivera maya but this hotel is tempting. I think i prefer the palace over the dunamar but we have two young kids as well so the waterpark access at the dunamar is a bonus. The beach at dunamar also looks better?
We have been to the Riu Playacar and thought that area was very nice. The Dunamar is a great resort and seemed to have a lot going on. There were lots of kids there and they have several activities there every day for the them. The Riu Palace Costa Mujeres is just next door and it also has access to the water park included with it. We liked the Palace better than the Dunamar, but when we were there the beach at the Dunamar seemed a little better. They were actually still working on the beach at the Palace on one end with backhoes, as it had only been open three weeks. I imagine it is in good shape now. Compared to Riviera Maya, this area might be slightly windier, but not by much. The sand on this beach is excellent, and would be hard to beat. There was some seaweed here, but that’s a problem everywhere now in the Caribbean and Gulf. We think you can’t go wrong staying at the Dunamar or the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. It’s just a less-developed, quieter area in general.
Very nice beach!!!! lots of pools, never have to fight for a beach chair or pool chair either like some resorts!!! And, an undeveloped beach so far....so might be good to go this year before there are hundreds of resorts up there!!!!
They are building more resorts as we speak, so it will eventually get busier up in this area. But for now, there's not much else except for the Riu Dunamar and the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. Both great resorts!
With the Sargassum situation only getting worse I'm surprised they aren't slowing on resort construction until a solution is found if there is one ? The Cancun area is going to end up with 300 resorts all half full. Resort areas like Cabo on the pacific side are building like crazy likely to keep up with the possible increase in visitors due to the decline in people visiting the Caribbean side.
@@briannwo1900 It is a bad situation, and it's not looking good in 2019 for the Caribbean. It looked like they were trying to remove some of it at our resort. We've never been to Cabo, but it's on our list!
I'm going to go there in April, and I'm very worried about how to get there and back to the airport? did you pre-book a taxi??? Or is there public transport? How much does it cost??? Thanks in advance for your reply Are all restaurants free or do you have to pay extra???
Can you say more about the Splash Park? It sounds like it is free/included for both Riu Dunamar and Riu Palace Mujeres. But is it also a splash park that is open to the general public? Is it more than just waterslides?
It’s only open to guests staying at either the Riu Dunamar or the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. It’s includes the bigger waterslides and the kids water play area. It’s not real big, but is is fun, and very cool that it’s included free of charge with your stay. We loved it!
So... how is it? We want to go there we are looking for a resort with activities suck as volleyball ping pong pool etc.... is there alot activities there? Is the staff trying to get everyone in activities? How is the food? Thank you very much in advance
This is a comment I’m afraid I missed…sorry. You’ve probably already gone, but when we were there, it seemed to be an active resort with a lot going on. The staff was good at getting people involved and reminding them of activities that were about to happen. The food was good!
From what I remember, they wanted pesos or a credit card. We used our card for al of our purchases. We did tip in USD though...the staff seemed to appreciate that.
Does anyone one know which one is better…. Dunmar or Palace. I’m traveling with 3 kids ages 16, 11 and 9. My husband is all about the food. Any input will be appreciated! Thanks!
The food is better at the Palace. For whatever reason, we’ve heard recently that the food service and quality had gone down at the Dunamar. That could be a temporary thing, hopefully. The Palace is more expensive, so that’s also a factor, but it is a nicer resort, and you can still go to the Dunamar to see it too if you stay at the Palace.
It wasn’t windy like that every day; the wind did die down to a comfortable level. A storm had just passed through and the winds were pretty strong the first day we got there. But we understood that it can be windier here than down in the Hotel Zone simply because this area is located on more of a point of land that sticks out into the water.
Helo! Tnx for video. We`re now thinking with my wife what hotel to choose - Dunamar or Palace, how do u think which one is better or they`re the same? Is it really windy? i see the palms shaking)
We really liked the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres, and personally preferred it to the Dunamar. Staying at the Palace gives you access to everything at that resort, plus access to everything at the Dunamar (pools, spa, entertainment, restaurants, etc.). The same isn't true of the Dunamar - they aren't allowed to go over to the Palace. You can eat at either resort during the day for breakfast and lunch if you stay at the Palace, but guests are required to eat at their own resorts in the evening. It depends on how active a resort you want also - the Dunamar was busier and had more children (which we didn't mind - we love kids), but that could be because the Palace is still new and doesn't have as many bookings yet. The Palace was more quiet and peaceful when we were there, and has about 140 less rooms. When we were there, we had some windy days, but we felt that was because a storm had just passed through. The wind did die down before we left, but not entirely, so I can't say for certain that this area might tend to be a little windy. We have been to this part of Cancun twice before (Playa Mujeres) and had never noticed high winds. So bottom line, you can't go wrong with either, but we felt that the Palace was a little nicer overall.
@@GmaGpaAdventures thanks for the answer, and what can you say about food in both resorts? Did you have a large choice in *all inclusive* ? I think the greatest fear of everyone who whants to go there is seaweed. They say that there`s a lot of seaweed in the sea
We can’t really comment on the food at the Dunamar, as we didn’t actually eat there. We just looked at the restaurants and the menus. The Palace offered Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and Fusion restaurants along with a Steakhouse. They also had a buffet every night that was very good. The Dunamar has similar restaurants, so I’m assuming the food is good also. And the sargassum seaweed has been a big problem in the Caribbean. It looked like they were removing some of it from the beach at our resort, but it is a common problem now in Cancun. It will be somewhat of a problem anywhere in Cancun and Caribbean.
It was right around 45 minutes to get to the resort during morning traffic. We had a direct transfer, so our shuttle didn't make any extra stops at hotels along the way.
If you stay at the Dunamar you can’t eat or drink at the restaurants or bars at the Costa Mujeres next door because it’s a Palace level. When we stayed at the Costa Mujeres, we could use the restaurants and bars at the Dunamar during the day, but technically we were supposed to go back to our resort to eat dinner. We’ve heard that they might make exceptions to that depending on who’s seating you at the restaurant on a given night, but the official policy is that you have to go back to the Costa Mujeres for dinner.
We actually only ate at the Palace. We looked at all the restaurants at the Dunamar, but we were required to eat dinner at our resort, and didn’t take the time to eat breakfast or lunch at the Dunamar.
