Our hero, Mario was about to throw the villainous bowser into the void, just like he did a couple seasons ago, But little did we know, when he was sliding of, bowser jumped up, hitting Mario with his shell, and making fire land everywhere
Just want to share this fact, Mario punching Bowser Into the Abyss and jumping out is most likely a glitch, not an easter egg or at least a thing intended by the people down by Nintendo, you see, Bowser was programmed so that if he doesn't get punched at for some time, he just automatically jumps and creates the fire rings, so when he falls down, time passes so Bowser jumps up. This evident by the fact that at 1:22, Bowser floats near the death plain instead of falling down fast and you can see that his jump animation occurs even though he isn't on the ground.
Sebi The Hunter They think it's a reference because in Super Mario 64 bosses would jump back onto the platform if they got thrown off. It's not really a reference though, in this game it's just to make sure that if Bowser manages to fall off the platform that it's not impossible for the player to get past the boss.

To their credit, Bowser seems programmed to return to the arena in the event of him leaving it. In otherwords, someone had the foresight that this could happen and planned accordingly. It would be so much worse if he just fell out of existence and broke the game because you no longer have a boss to beat in order to continue.
This reminds me of Super Mario 64, I use to love throwing Bowser into the void. Thanks for bringing back my childhood
