Dire sound quality. With Roxy playing you had the best music of 70s to score in the disco. It wasn't disco it was Art Rock with a capital A. And Blackpill anti romantic torture at the same time. 😂 Eventually it became the yuppies CD of the 80s Avalon 1982.
That was a very honest reaction. Very difficult to arrive at one song , the thing about Roxy was they were a bit of British life Them and David Bowie. Between them they influenced everything in the late seventies and beyond. I remember swapping a Ramones album for For your Pleasure their second album. This was 1978 I was 14 then. Fantastic band brilliant music.
I wouldn’t describe them as underground. The cognoscenti generally recognise Roxy Music as the second most influential band after the Beatles. Unfortunately they were always five years ahead of the curve so the groups they inspired (Sex Pistols, Chic, Human League, U2, Duran Duran to name a tiny number) generally reaped the benefit.
Sorry for getting that wrong, and that is very interesting that they inspired so many bands after them. That is what usually happens to ground breaking performers...many times they do not get the credit they deserve.
Roxy were very influential in the UK in their earlier days. Mostly hated by the music press as they couldn't be clearly categorised. Most regard them as "art rock", with a hint of Glam. As each album was released they lost more and more of their appeal to the general rock audience as leader Bryan Ferry became more and more obsessed with his own Lounge Lizard personality. The first two albums are absolute classics, but albums up to Siren are great too. After that it was very much Ferry and his backing band. Sad.
@MikaelMiky Just starting and I am trying to improve as my channel grows. I thought this would be easier but I am coming across things I didn't expect, but I am learning.
I've never heard this song before and I've gone to a few of their concerts, this is very old. A better song would be "Avalon " or " More than this", they really are a great band 👍

Thank you alanbobbymcquire...I am only familiar now with that one song, but I should look into other music they have produced. Thank you.
This is from their first album in 1972.

That's terrible lemming...They had a very unique sound. It is a shame that was cut short.
