Classic Howard Stern - The Ben Stern Tapes (full segments)

- Опубликовано: 9 фев 2025
- Absolutely my favorite discussion about the Ben Stern tapes. They've been played hundreds of times, but Howard's rant on this show included hilarious stories, such as what it was like to go to dinner with his parents and the "rules" for how to order at a restaurant properly.
Shorter bits contained in this video will also be posted.
Like, comment, and subscribe for more classic bits and excerpts.
(From cassette recordings made during listening)
If you like this, check out all my other classic Howard Stern stuff. I've got lots more to upload, all late 80's/early 90's.
Awesome 😎
Anything with just general goofing on people on the show. Esp Stuttering John 😅
@@Hilz28 I've got some more Stuttering John coming.
Anything Jackie related. Please and thank you!
I plan on posting shorter portions of this video for when people want to enjoy it in pieces instead of as a long rant.
I cannot listen to this segment until it's been checked for proper modulation.
Thank you.
Now we will play this back to hear the quality, and whether this is operating. Thank you.
The electric eye is a green type of tube
I'm 51 now and I can totally relate to Ben's gripes with how to order at a restaurant. These days there's just some people I refuse to go out to eat with 😂😂😂
Rest in Proper Modulation, Ben
Thank You
Listing to this back in the day was so great
A different time, a different Howard. I have so many bits I CAN'T upload because of the content. And "Scorched Earth Howard" was so much angrier, and in many ways funnier.
Listing, eh?

Ben Stern was old even when he was young
"Was your father EVER a young man?"
When we were kids there was an old man named Mr. Scrudder who lived near us. He hated kids, had some wife who we never saw and was always sick in bed. Perfect name, I swear he was born a cranky old man.
My father had me when he was 55. Even to me, Ben sounds like a fucking great grandfather. He sounds like he was 55 during WW2
Says you, Ricky two shoes
"SHUT UP! SIT DOWN!"
I love "I told you not to be stupid you moron ".
I love that Howard’s parents at least sometimes listened to the show & that they still loved him so much. A father that proper you’d think would flip shit and disown him after hearing what he does on the Radio.
Everyone wants a successful son
_Smart dad, trying to get a glimpse of Robin's juggernauts_
Any photos of her juggs?
I don't think anyone would look now
"I'm just thrilled at the whole idear!"
I've heard it that way in my head for years.
As I recoil, they played faw games.
“I are- is- I is a Democrat”
Do you feel the United States should remain in the United Nations?
I am SO grateful this gold was recoded 😂
Robin's laugh seemed genuine in this. Never thought such a concept existed.
I have laughed so hard with this clip...holy moly, lol....sobbing!!
When people ask me why I used to listen every day, this is what I play for them.
Howard mimicking his dad and mom are my (and my wife’s) favorite bits! Always has been ❤️
"If I want...the clams.." "You want an appetizer madam?" "No no no no no no..."
Same! I am LMAO 😂😂😂😂😂
Howard's impression of his dad sounds like Bernie Sanders
Especially when he uses the megaphone
I love listening to listening to Howard shuffling through the tape cart! Forgot about that!
I have one coming soon of the old "cart prank" he pulled on Flo and Eddie of the Turtles when they were doing afternoon drive on the station. Sometimes Howard's funniest rants were when he was waiting for a cart to recue, or waiting for Scott to cart something.
i always wished he would let this play without interrupting it. soooo funny
I remember listening to this at work. No work was done that day.
It's all about proper modulation!
Thank you
You wanna be a broadcaster, don't ya? You have to know these things!
Ben an Rae Stern were brilliant people! RIP Ben.
He looks like Uncle June from The Sopranos in this picture LMFAO
Howard never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
RIP to a true GOAT
Young Howard and his sister both have the thickest new york accent I've ever heard from kids
I grew up near NYC, those are actually tame compared to many.

I understand where his dad was coming from with the food ordering. I hate going to a restaurant that me and others have been to a million times with the same menu and they still take 20 minutes to order 😂
"There's a proper way to order!"

Viebrock's 9:38 closed some time ago. It's currently a Dominican restaurant about 2.5 miles south from Stern's childhood house in Roosevelt
His dad sounds like he could be Bernie Sanders' brother...
I wish I could find the Ben Stern School of Broadcasting bit....
When Ben was on the show and spoke he made sense.
"Doing a lot of good for the country...and the world."
That Robin and the dollar story is crazy .... Was that ever talked about again?
"Oh Ben it's like steeel"
I never heard it referred to again in the years that followed.
@@ZodiacKiller-ds5og can you please help me find the bit where Howard and Artie are making fun of Michael Jackson being tough eating pizzagaine.
@@Handle_your_scandal Sadly I am not familiar with that bit. But I'll keep my eyes open.
I never believed Robin in the first place. He probably actually dropped a dollar, and she thinks so highly of herself that she thought he MUST have been looking at HER!!
Ben doesn't go for shvartze!
A top 10. Howard Gold.
Apparently Ben's fantasy was to be the host of shows like "Meet the Press". I would've watched a few episodes with him as the host - just to see him scream and shout whenever any "moron" gave him a "stupid answer".
"You don't stop the interview just because your guest freaks out."
“Do you feel the United States should remain in the United Nations?”
Yes! I really do. Well, there should be peace in all the countries, and we wouldn't have any war ... 'cause we don't want the J*PS anymore! Mahahahahahahahahaha......
He was a no talent. Who spawned a good jewish..pervert
This is the funniest stuff Stern ever did, making fun of his dad.
I've listened to this maybe 200 times over the years, and I do NOT get tired of it. This was Stern at his best.
And his Mom! 😃

Old man river so funny
He had quite a...umm....voice...

Ben Stern actually had a good singing voice!
His baritone was deep, but he could carry a tune in a paper bag.
His lost the "timber" in his voice in his later years.
@@sim1manson1 He softened in a lot of ways, as do many people.
The timber

For all that Howard has to say about his father, people should read what Emily and Deborah have to say about their father. For one thing, at least Ben stayed with Ray. And even if Ben did leave Ray, he never replaced her with a young chippy not that much older than his children. It wasn't exactly easy having Howard Stern for a father.
I'm honestly not that interested about his personal life other than how - for me - he became less funny and enjoyable after the marriage ended. Once he started dating, I lost interest in the show. I don't get tied up in what star dates who or their personal lives; I don't hero worship in that way.
@@ZodiacKiller-ds5og I don't care as much about his personal life, I mostly just get a kick out of his hypocrisy. That language I used about a "young chippy" is right out of something Howard said about Imus back in the day. I think people are allowed to make mistakes and change in life, but I think Howard has changed too much to do the same kind of show that he used to do. For one thing, he's gone too 'Hollywood'. That makes his old material really stick out compared to what he does now. I think he got a lot of famous friends and liked hanging around them, so he reined himself in and changed his persona to make it more palatable to the celebrities he was gaining access to. If he wants to do celebrity interviews he should have just made a clean break from the old format and do that instead of expecting people who were fans of his old persona to keep listening. His attempt to have it both ways just make it look like he's being a hypocrite when you listen to his old stuff, and he kind of is. I can still enjoy most of it though. I don't hero-worship, it's just that when you listen to the old stuff you inevitably think of how The Howard Stern Show has changed.
@@FriedRiceINC He has changed, and the times have changed. I've got a whole pile of bits I cannot post because they would be taken down by YT because or language or content. But yes he changed, that's why I stopped listening long ago, and I can only guess he has changed a LOT since that point. I got a free three-month trial of Sirius XM recently, and I haven't even bothered to try his channel. It just doesn't interest me now.
The show has changed immensely but I think this was the real Howard all along. You could always tell he was bitter about not being in with the cool clique even the way he would desperately cling to people like stamos back then. I was shocked at first but listening back the signs were all there
I understand Howard’s father about ordering food.I always have someone order for me I hate ordering my food I feel silly their is a proper way to order😆8:36
I remember the show where Howard played tapes of his father yelling at him
Can't believe his father had a glass eye

He HAS to have come from Transylvania with that accent.
At 13:26, who is Robin talking about? "Ben Robison?" I don't get the reference. Thanks.
She misspoke, she meant Paul (not Ben) Robeson. He famously sang the song in the musical Show Boat (on the London stage and later in the film version).
@@ZodiacKiller-ds5og Thank you.
Yes, she was referring to singer Paul Robeson as the other commenter noted here. But when she said "Ben" Robeson, she did not misspeak per se: she was joking. (Howard's dad is named Ben)
Ben Stern singing sounds like Gilbert doing a goof 😂
I miss Gilbert....

Do you have the bit where Ben sings the song to his wife? "Now here's one for you mother dear,da da da dum,da da da dum, baby baby, baby baby"
Still looking for that, I DID but I haven't found that tape. And the discussion during the next day when they figure out what song he was singing (it's a real "song").
@@ZodiacKiller-ds5og yes, I remember that they found the original version, it was from some doo -wop group , Ben's version sounded nothing like it, he added those cheesey sound effects.

Robins forced laughing is sickening.
No wonder Ben yelled at Howard. He was a whiny neurotic mess even as a child.
He's sounds like Bernie Sanders. Classic NY Jewish.
As unfathomable as it seems, Ben sounds even more annoying than Hoo Hoo, complete with that INCESSANT and mindless babbling laugh from Robin. Holy God.
I've never understood the Robin haters...but then again I've never understood how Adam Sandler has a career. We all like what we like and hate what we hate.
@@ZodiacKiller-ds5og You have no idea how many times I've made that exact same argument. I fukn love Robin. The show would not be nearly as funny without her throwing a wrench into the conversation. She's everyone's punching bag until she punches back.
I think it’s more of a love to hate her than hate hate. I mean she is extremely annoying, full of herself and often clueless. Most the time she isn’t funny but occasionally she is hilarious. Show wouldn’t be the same without her so I don’t get the extreme hate but she is overbearing
When Howie was funny.
I don't know if he changed so much or if I did, but once he and his wife split up, I just found the show much less amusing. My favorite parts of the show were his "everyman" rants about life with the family. Like how at least once a week he'd rant over how Alison didn't buy enough bananas. "This morning there was no banana in my cereal. I asked Alison and she said we ran out. How do you run out of bananas? I've told her over and over, I need a banana in my cereal, I'm getting up at three on the morning. Just buy fifty bananas and throw the extra ones away, how hard is that?"
The Everyman aspect is what appealed to me, too. Probably most of the audience, especially men.
Jesus Christ. Does Robin ever let 10 seconds go by without that incessant fake laugh? Guess it's easier to do that than work that tiny brain for some kind of actual retort in conversation.
That’s what wiggy actually looks like without wigs and plastic surgery lol

It's a insecure cackle cause she knows she adds nothing to the show.
I don't know about these days, but back then the show could NOT have existed without Robin. She was the only force keeping things moving, the only one keeping Howard focused, the only one who actually remembered things, and the sounding board he needed to know where the line was.

@@gary6754 "I heard a story" means nothing to me. (The few classmates he had on back in the 80's and 90's backed up his version). But if you're going to say you heard he used racial slurs, I wouldn't be surprised, not excusing anything but that was very common back then and as I've mentioned before I have many bits I can't post because of frequent use of the N word.
