To be honest, I didn’t learn anything new and I am just an enthusiast, but you mentioned everything I would deem important about the stuff. Now however I think I can follow your courses in more advanced stuff I don’t know anything about and I know I will not be waiting my time. Thanks I laughed a lot with the week memory loss story
Missed talking about modular power supplies.. When changing out / testing if one is bad IF you are not using the exact same brand / model DO not assume the cables to the modular Power Supply side are wired the same.. Swap for the correct Modular Cables that came with the Power supply.. You WILL fry any number of things if you try to reuse the cables that are already routed from the old power supply to the New power supply. Even different power supplies from the same manufacture can have different cables / pin-outs on the PSU side.
Not 100% on topic... During my computer class in HS, someone placed a side panel flat on the floor. This was years ago, so we had the large beige towers so the panels were huge. One girl stepped and slipped on it. Not to sound cruel, but she was big. She needed to be taken out on a stretcher. Next week, she had a foot cast on. Keep your work area clean.
I have found that electricity is not the biggest issue with safety, its the people around you. I don't know how many times I have been fixing a computer and someone is chatting away in my ear and breaks my concentration and causes me to do something. One time a guy came up behind me when I was lifting the huge desktop computer and he startled me and caused me to drop the system on my foot. I ended up fracturing my big toe and bruising the hell out of my foot. Tip: look around before you start to lift a system, and look around corners (I've gotten a few battle wounds from walking with systems in my hands and people coming around corners and colliding).
Eli, I bought my A+ about a week ago & I feel very unintimidated. I am very familiar with everything in this book; I hope the others are just as fun! 👽
Also must carefully no make damage to something was working good before u start our hands on. When I start playing with crapp pc to fix them from qluriosity inburned some good memory sticks
I don't remember what chip it was, but a long time ago I had to build around 12 desktop computers for an internet cafe at a hotel with my boss. The procesor they where using could go in two diferent ways (the wrong way and the correct way), my boss did not notice the arrows on the processor chip and the socket, every now and than he would fry a chip and ended blaming the manufacturer, after he fried the third CPU I looked at it and I noticed he inserted them backwards and I told him LOL. He was lucky that since they bought the chips in bulk, he was able to claim a warranty and did not have to pay for them.
I even had an old Asus motherboard that was thrown in my backyards, it took rain, rat piss and turned into a cockroach nest. After taking the motherboard out, taking it all apart, cleaning the crap out of it with contact cleaner, swapped the HDD for a new one and changing the bios battery it posted immediately.
Pretty much. I’ve been IT for about 5 years now and hold an Associate’s Degree in Desktop Support. I work for a local government agency and I applied for an equivalent job in a separate agency that offers a better compensation package, they ask you obtain A+ within one year of hire. That’s when it’s worth it, otherwise you can get away without it.
Houston job boards have a bunch of entry level desktop help that require A+. If you're just starting in the field then that's the way to go. I see a few that say its a plus (pun intended) and not required but that usually means you'll get passed over for someone that does.
Eli is the best. I haven't had time in the recent past to watch him but I plan on catching up. He is the full package, personality, looks, smarts. He should be making ten million a year
you seem like a strong leader and someone I would want to work for.

Thank you for taking the time to do this video Sir.
3:02 - "It can be bad, very bad (admiring his hand)... I have heard of people loosing their fingers over that type of thing." lol, too funny. I cant.

The thumbnail is both relevant to the topic and current events. A+
00:53 - "Although its SHOCKINGLY hard to hurt yourself" I see what you did there. LOL

Your presentations have helped and been accurate, up though CCNA and others. Many Thanks.

I believe in your skillset Eli; Just remember it is all about presentation. No fish was hooked any other way 👽
You forgot: smoke (cigarettes) and fluids (aka, water, Coffee, beverages). They are by far the most common cause of technician accidents.
You simply can't open a desktop without touching bare metal of the chassis even if you try not to

Another time I took apart a desktop that literally had a plant growing inside.

LOL this was so funny but it was great information! Thanks!
When working on band printers do I really need to take my tie off?
Where do I plug in the ethernet cable for all my virtual bridge connections?
Found a dead mouse in a pc once. They left one of the sides open.
A+ is basically not needed imo. I completed the 901 and all employers I was looking at at the time said it was good enough.
Jonas I was unaware this. I'm subscribed to him but I never clicked on his recent content. Thanks for informing me.

this is SHOCKING.
When replacing ISA,EISA or PCI cards do I need to power the PC off?
Yes. Just for extra safety. However, 95% of the time nothing will happen
