Most people remember Brian Glover as the Warden in Alien 3....I on the other hand, as a Rik Mayall/Adrian Edmundson fan, remember him as "Mr. Rottweiler" in Bottom.
Brian truly has a distinct voice because I recognized him from another BBC show, Bottom! He was in the episode 'Gas' as Richie and Eddie's angry neighbor, Mr. Rottweiler. Who knew Mr. Rottweiler was a wrestler?
Fun fact, the guy who played Lord Byron went on the voice the main bad guy in the Witcher 3 but more importantly, he voices MAX REBO in the recent Lego Star Wars game.
Brian Glover was a splendid character and fine wrestler. The match between him and Les Kellet that you showed a glimpse of near the beginning was a great match.
You guys are great, you've got us all hooked on this cheesefest, now Im going to have to find this, to see what happens!!...do the 2nd episode! Or whole series!
At 6:44 you see a poster of Kevin Spacey during his time in the London stage scene. At 9:07 you guys sound like Orcs from WH40k. Also I believe the actor that played Lord Byron was also the witch's descendant from the Married With Children 2 part episode where there's a conspiracy to kill Al and Bud in England. These facts alone warrant more Rumble commentaries.
I remember watching an episode of this! I was so excited to see a listing for a wrestling comedy on BBC ... I saw an episode and wondered if I had watched the wrong thing because I didn't see any wrestling or comedy. I never saw another episode and in recent months have been furiously googling to see if I had just invented the memory and may have been going mad. Long after giving up, RUclips recommends you guys and this video. One of my life loose ends has finally been tied.
One of the burger boys is Stephen Marcus who later went on to star in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. And was coincidentally in Birds of A Feather along with Lesley Jospeph
I had a vague childhood (6 years old) memory of watching this show. I remember a business man wrestler with a briefcase full of bricks and a tag team dressed as burgers. I tried to find it for years but with no luck. In the end I thought I had just watched WWF with IRS etc and got it mixed up. This video was a validation!
Oh 12 year old me remembers getting very excited on hearing about this new Wrestling comedy on BBC 1. I don’t think I made it to episode 3 and now I live in regret at never knowing what happened next
How have I never seen this before! Al Hunter Ashton was Pitbull in London's Burning! And the actor who played Lord Byron was Superintendent Tom Chandler in The Bill!
Whilst Brian Glover was a well-known wrestler at the time, I would argue that he’s best remembered for playing the sadistic PE teacher in the film “Kes” 😇
I remember this it was utter shite and it seemed really random at the time that a show based on wrestling would just show up on Saturday afternoon on BBC1. Comedy gold now but back then it was just embarrassing, clearly apart from Brian Glover and the odd cameo nobody involved neither knew anything about wrestling or gave a flying fcuk about finding out, very bizarre all round really.
I do remember this. I remember something weird about The Beefy Boys. I don't understand how this storyline was supposed to work, all I know is that Lesley Joseph said something about "he's going through his purple patch." And in some way this phrase affected which corner The Beefy Boys were in, and they all had to rush to try to get them into the other corner. Very odd.
"A bit of comic relief in a Bottom live show" - After Pete saying that, I'm surprised neither of them mentioned that Brian Glover was in an episode of Bottom, playing Mr. Rottweiler.
Don't remember this would of definitely watch it just because there was wrestling in it didn't get anything in Britain unless you went to the local video shop
As a huge wrestling fan since the mid 1980s and a TV addict from since I was born (early 80s) AND someone who now works in the television industry and has a very extensive and deep knowledge of British Television - how the hell have I never heard of this before??? Are you sure this isnt one of those weird Mandela effects where only people from a parallel universe will remember this show?
Same. No memory of it whatsoever. Thing is, it was apparently followed by The New Adventures of Superman, which I know that I did watch. My best guess is that I was playing on my Mega Drive when Rumble was on.
Was this ever released on home media? Or does anyone know where to watch it online? I thought Rumble was so awesome when it came out (I was 12!) but now I have to see it again just because it's so bad that it's actually good. 😀
I do remember it being pretty bad, yet somehow still entertaining! Mad Hamish was played by former world champion boxer Glenn McCrory (Mike Tyson's favourite sparring partner) and Hugh Cornwell, from The Stranglers appeared as a hypnotist in an episode.
I like to play a fun game whenever I watch something British made after his death; what role would Brian Glover have had in this and how much better would it make it.
Did anyone watch IDeal? I would watch it in the states, favorite British tv show of mine, thought 1 of the wrestlers was on there, but Im a yankee so...idk?? Lol
I do think an actual netflix level drama of behind the scenes wrestling would actually be very good. Like GLOW but then men in the territory days. You can base it off of Jim Cornette's tales in Behind the Curtain. Travelling tag team and their manager.
A series like that exists and broadcast its first season in 2021. It's called Heels and follows a small town wrestling promoter trying to grow his business. It's a little strange in that it's set in the present day with all the modern trappings of wrestling such as IWC, online promotion etc but in some sort of parallel universe where there is still a territory system. It was really well received and premiers its second season next month.
i do remember this show, i was about 14 when it was out. i loved wresting and watched every episode of this but i did find it pretty rubbish. brian glover kept me watching tho.
RUMBLE is not nearly as good as the one-off wrestling drama also starring Brian Glover, Send in the Girls- The Wild Bunch. Also featuring Giant Haystacks & Kendo Nagasaki.
This was terrible, I never understood why any of the actual British wrestlers were in it, except for Brian Glover. Probably because they realised how terrible it was going to be.
Most people remember Brian Glover as the Warden in Alien 3....I on the other hand, as a Rik Mayall/Adrian Edmundson fan, remember him as "Mr. Rottweiler" in Bottom.
He was a legend!
He's also the Warden in the Living Daylights.
Took the words right out of my mouth! ❤
Rik Mayall and Brian Glover were also in An American Werewolf in London.
"Sumthin very speshall has 'appened to me, I'm in LOVE!!!"
The theme song reminds me of the Maid Marrion and her merry men theme tune
Brian truly has a distinct voice because I recognized him from another BBC show, Bottom! He was in the episode 'Gas' as Richie and Eddie's angry neighbor, Mr. Rottweiler.
Who knew Mr. Rottweiler was a wrestler?
Best Bottom episode by far
Mr Rottweiler would've been an amazing name for a wrestler.
Please do the entire series.
Seconded, we *need* commentary for every episode
Please god, this was fantastic
Agreed 👍
I second 🕶️
Now I'm going to have to find this to see what happens next!!...Judas?! Judas in my mind!
This is the best recommendation RUclips has given me in a long long time
Such a good laugh
Fun fact, the guy who played Lord Byron went on the voice the main bad guy in the Witcher 3 but more importantly, he voices MAX REBO in the recent Lego Star Wars game.
And Superintendent Tom Chandler in the bill practically the same Smug Charming villain
He’s that bastard elf?

Nobody remembers rumble because everyone over the age of 12 was down the pub or on the PlayStation on Saturday at 9pm
PlayStation hadn't been released yet
OK, Mega Drive/SNES/Amiga then.
Looks like u boys just found my new favorite thing cant wait for episode 2

been in loads of stuff him popped up in the bill a few times as well i think

Do remember this, glad to have found some footage of it on RUclips as it’s nonexistent anywhere
I think I caught a copyright infringement around 1:47
I vaguely remember this - I’m sure it was designed as a vehicle for Leslie Joseph.
Oh 12 year old me remembers getting very excited on hearing about this new Wrestling comedy on BBC 1. I don’t think I made it to episode 3 and now I live in regret at never knowing what happened next
They probably pulled the show after episode 2 to save face 🤣
@@djangofett4879 mid 90s BBC had no shame. See Eldorado, Space Precinct and Bugs
Funny, "Now I Live in Regret" is what's scratched onto the cover of my wifes diary.
@@djangofett4879 According to imdb, they did in fact air all six episodes.
Yeah, I'm surprised as well.
This was hilarious. Great job, guys!
16:40 Is that Stevie The Bent Bookie Fae Craiglang that I see before me?
How have I never seen this before!
Al Hunter Ashton was Pitbull in London's Burning!

Wrong. Rottweiler in Bottom.
I know him best from Porridge
@@TheDarkVampire666 He knows knowledge.
Another Brilliant episode!
I can remember El Dorado but not this shite lol. This has the production value and script from a rejected Byker Grove episode.
You guys should do one on that late 8o's wrestling syndicated series that featerd several NWA WcW stars called *_Learning the Ropes_*
Whenever I see Brian Glover, I think Alien³. I had no idea he was a pro wrestler before getting into acting.
Do more please that was class
Brian Glover was Gaffer in the Tetley tea adverts.
I’m still hoping for a look at the rest of the series, pure gold
I hope you did every single episode of this 😂
15:13
Rupert Grint travelled back in time to be an extra in this classic British television series
Good spot. I think that makes “rumble” part of the official Harry Potter canon.
Pretty brave to brand their show as “RAW” on the posters…
Vince and his lawyers will take any money they make.
I knew Brian Glover from Porridge first, then bottom.

I loved Brian Glover in kes and bottom when he played rottweiler the psycho neighbour.😂😂classics
Well I certainly didn't forget about it. I watched it every week. "There's gonna be a rumble!"
Could have sworn it was the Rupert guy from Harry Potter in the crowd 15:16
Al Ashton acctaully wrote The Firm Alan Clarkes last film, so its clear he had hits and misses
I vaguely remember this because it was cool to see as a wrestling fan
"A bit of comic relief in a Bottom live show" - After Pete saying that, I'm surprised neither of them mentioned that Brian Glover was in an episode of Bottom, playing Mr. Rottweiler.
please do episode 2
There can’t have been an episode 2?
they said there were six@@DavidKArrrrgh
Of course Brian Glover is in it..
I missed this at the time due to being incredibly busy sleeping. I never knew Trigger had such an appealing physique, he kept that quiet in OFAH.
The funniest part is Stephen Marcus plays pretty much the same comic relief wrestler character in Walk Like A Panther.
I remember watching this series 😂😂
4:42 Im sorry. Is that Sean William Scott?
Was this written and produced by Legs Akimbo from The League Of Gentleman?
15:14 Is that Rupert Grint
I loved this . Not the best thing you'll ever see but enjoyable
How can they be late with the VAT if they've only just founded the promotion? First draft screenplay if ever I saw one.
Steven Hartley is a fantastic villain
Is no one going to mention that Nick The Greek from Lock Stock is one of the Beefy Boys?
Was this ever on BBC Ulster? How TF am I only finding out about this now, when at the time I was a massive Pro-Wrestling fan?
Don't remember this would of definitely watch it just because there was wrestling in it didn't get anything in Britain unless you went to the local video shop
In the voice of Brian Glover “They don’t look like beef burgers they look like doings burgers!”
Incredible!
You didn't mention Glover was in Kes.

Why isn't this available on BBC iPlayer?
I agree, I was around when this came out in 1995 and have no memory of it. Mind you I was probably watching Baywatch or Gladiators on itv.
Ah yes, Baywatch. Truly the epitome of quality tv programming.
Same. No memory of it whatsoever. Thing is, it was apparently followed by The New Adventures of Superman, which I know that I did watch. My best guess is that I was playing on my Mega Drive when Rumble was on.
Brian Glover’s crowd cheers the entire match? Who does he think he is, Kendo Nagasaki?

As far as I can tell it never came out on any media, and it's not available anywhere officially, but someone's put the whole series up on Dailymotion.
I thought the thumbnail was Tully Blanchard at 1st glance lol...good idea, ahead of its time. Had it not bn cheesy
I do remember it being pretty bad, yet somehow still entertaining! Mad Hamish was played by former world champion boxer Glenn McCrory (Mike Tyson's favourite sparring partner) and Hugh Cornwell, from The Stranglers appeared as a hypnotist in an episode.
Anyone know where I can watch all the episodes?
This was hilarious ! 😂
in the U.K, alot of betting shops will not let you bet more than £1,000,000 on a single horse
A million quote, eh?
A Regal & Fandango faction. What could have been.
I like to play a fun game whenever I watch something British made after his death; what role would Brian Glover have had in this and how much better would it make it.
Wot the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
This really epitomises those ultra naff Beeb dramas from the time.
I remember watching this😂
Al Ashton makes several appearances in the video.
Season breakdown please 😂
I've fucking died
Good 👍
In a strange way I always felt Lucha Underground was a soap opera too...
I used to watch this and barely remember what happened.
LORD BRYON!!!!
Is this a Mandela Effect? - I have zero memory of this and I was watching anything wrestling at the time.
Yes
@@disgusting_hobo I'll add it to the list with Bruno beinng tag champion with Battman.
The actor that plays Lord Byron he always plays the bad guys
