Lol why do people still think this is a joke or doesnt work? Seriously, 6+ years later with hundreds of replies with people all over the world saying it works... and I still get replies like this. Yes! It works. I'm not going to lie to you
I just spent all morning trying to get my HP LaserJet P2015dn to work, it was giving me a paper jam error just as you pointed out in your video. So I decided to watch your video and boy oh boy am I glad I did. It took me about 5 minutes to tear it down, remove the board, turn on the oven and preset it to 400 degrees, placed the board in the oven and waited 5 minutes, removed it, let it sit for 10 minutes. After putting everything back together, I told myself "there is no way this is going to work"; however it did work! Thank you for taking the time to post the video on RUclips.
Thank you ! I didn't really believe in this solution, but my formatter board would be unusable! So I decided to try it.... and it worked also for me. I noticed it in my post on HP community as the good solution for me, approved, closed!
I made bake process today and it fixed my network / USB connection and waking up troubles and other unpredictable behaviour of P2015dn printer. Saved me money. Thanks so much for sharing.
I was reluctant to try this but since my printer's symptoms were exactly the same as shown here. I am happy to report that this worked perfectly! Thank you so much for posting. Great solution that saved me hundreds of dollars!,
Works a treat !! 5 mins at 210 C, 10 min. rest. Used little pieces of alu paper to create a 1/2 cm separation from bake plate.Great !! And shame on HP and their " green" soldering !!
Just did this myself last night on my HP 2015. I opted for the 375 degree(F) for 6 minutes 30 seconds time and now the printer works. I'll just add when you take the side panel off the printer, start with the back top an bottom corners, then the front should come off more easily and when putting it back, hook the front in then the back should snap back in. I think the hooks in the front are bigger than the back. Thanks for making this video
Hey there, I got 1536dnf and I have problems when booting and sometimes it hangs if it actually boots, after a few prints. The formater for this is the PCB on the left behind the power button, but not the PCB under that, right? Edit: nevermind, did it. It works!
It worked for me too. I`ve had the same problem with paper jam light. I baked my formatter yesterday for 8 minutes in about 200°C, than cooled it down for 10 minutes and my printer is fixed. Thank you! Greetings from Poland :)
Thanks for this video. Several years ago I paid $10 for a non-working HP2015dn. I found a printer repair website which described the formatter board bake fix. I fixed mine a better way with Stabilant contact enhancer. That website had some good info about what was causing problems with a variety of products, especially the 2015. 2 things changed when the 2015 came out: 1. The whole industry was rapidly transitioning to lead-free solder, which requires notably higher temperatures, is less ductile, in many ways is far less "error tolerant". 2. With this change, HP decided to move it's PCB production to China. After fixing the formatter board, I found this printer has to have the additional RAM to work reliably. I got it on eBay for about $15. One other thing to note, this, and most other laser printers need to be plugged Directly into a wall outlet, Not a power strip, extension cord etc. because they need a Lot of Power to quickly heat up the fuser. You will see an odd variety of errors/print failures which go away when the printer has all the power it can use. (..perhaps your USB errors...) This is an excellent, small, duplexing B&W laser printer. Super cheap to operate, utterly reliable.
This is one of those solutions that you say to yourself... "Yeah... right... stick it in the oven and bake it... I'm sure THAT will work..." and then you believe a video and do it anyways... and it actually works. :) Thanks for the great, concise video Raidr.
Did this on mine and it had exactly the same error, baked it at 215C in 6,30 minutes on aluminum foil and spacers I used screws... worked like a beaut and that was 5 months ago and it's stil working fine :)
You are genius sir, Help me solve this problem for my HP P2015 printer . 375 F for six minutes in oven then cool down for 10 minutes while leaving oven off and oven door open Install the board and printer start working like new ! Awesome.. Thank you for posting.
Hard to believe but I baked the formatter and it really works now! I had very frequently a hang up or an undesired sudden turn-off on a HP M2727nfs. BIG THANKS for your advice & video mate!!! :-) JUST BAKE IT !!!
Baked two formatter boards today - one for a P2015 and one for a P3005, and both worked! I had my doubts, but it DID work great!. I adjusted the temp to 375F and the time to 6 minutes, 30 seconds to avoid melting the plastic. I did NOT raise the formatter board off the foil. Not sure if having the solder points in direct contact with the foil helped with the melting process or not. I had been putting this off for months, but now I wish I hadn't. I'll post again in 6 months with an update, or sooner if either one fails.
Truth. This indeed was a Hanukkah and Christmas miracle for us. Baked as directed today December 23 2017 and it WORKED! Powered right on, cycled the lights and printed perfection. 😲✈️❤️🙏🌈
I baked mine and it worked for only a few minutes. So I bought another one. To remove the side panel, slide the top rear side back of the panel with a screw driver away from the little black screw that it covers while removing the bottom of the panel. Then push forward and the entire panel will come off with ease.
I also wish to add that this does indeed work, did it on mine. poor soldering/material on this specific board needs this simple step. I saw this vid 1 year ago and tried it. I needed to do it again at this time. So you may need to do this step more than once as your 1st step for fixing until the printer itself is desired to be replaced, but this printer is fast and quick for B&W. 5 minutes @ 400 F
I would suggest doing a bit more research before trying this bake fix. The main reason this fix works is because the solder used on this HP2000 series printers were cheaper. So over time, the solder develops hairline cracks that sever the connection. This isn't and issue with normal circuit boards
I'm having trouble with the power supply board of an HP 1007 printer. The problem is basically printer is power on (power LED is glowing) and relay also ON when I push power button switch (tic-tac switch) but initial checking process is not started and a popup message is coming of computer that printer has "Door Open". I have already tested with another same model immaculate power supply board then the printer is work perfectly. Already I have tested this malfunction power board parts as following, but could not resolve the problem: 1. I have compared all the parts value by a multi meter for K3564 MOSFET, D2399 NPN Transistor, BCR5PM 14l Triac with a good power supply board but all the values ar OK. 2. If the primary section MOSFET K3564 had malfunctioned then power would not flow to secondary position. 3. When the printer is connected with computer then a "Door Open" pop up message is coming but all the door switch is perfectly pushed when I cartridge door seated perfectly. I don't understand which parts are bad on power supply board. This problem is only for power supply board because I have already tested it with an another perfect power supply board then the printer is working fine.
I'm not aware of any other printer models that can use this same baking trick. The reason this works for HP is because the solder used to make the formater boards was cheap and subject to microscopic cracks. Baking it resealed those cracks. Higher quality solder cant use this baking trick because the temperatures are higher than most ovens
yes works great so far thanks so much - I had various lights staying on at different times so definitely worth a try. The cover comes off if you prise it off gently at the four corners with a screw driver by the way!
Would a bad formatter cause this printer not not center print jobs? A client of mine uses this printer but all the print jobs are not not centered on the page.
wonder if your printer still work? got two formatter board on this machine (2015dn - Ethernet network) baked several times with 425 degrees and worked for a week or so and stops working, again.
Hello Night, yes my printer is still working perfectly. Used it over the weekend for a 20 page print out in fact. Sorry you're having such bad luck with the formatter board.
I have a HP Laserjet Professional M1217nfw MFP that I accidentally plugged into my UPS surge protector for about an hour before I realized I had plugged it up incorrectly as HP says clearly DO NO DO. So I was looking around for a possible solution since "A" printer is recognized on my windows machine when connected but not "THE" printer HP Laserjet Professional M1217nfw MFP. Does anyone know if this might work? I get a blank display literally all grey no lettering on the digital display. I do get the top green light and lower two orange lights. Does anyone know if I might be able to revive this printer with this trick? Trying not to spend an extra $300 on a decent printer at the moment? Could this work or would it hurt it to try...?
What a kind of problem this printer show? I have one of this and the LIGHTS READY, GO and ATTENTION is ON and the SECOND ERROR CODE is READY and GO Lights ON but MANUAL dosen't describe this problem! CAN I DO THIS METHODE? What the Themperature Thanks Guy?
Hello Allan, the problem was explained above in the description and in the first minute of the video. Paper Jam error. This is the tell tale sign that its the formatter board. The problem you are describing sounds like something else. I don't know if you can do this method because the symptoms of your printer appear different. If you want to attempt it anyways, the temperature I baked it at was 400 degrees. Good luck but I would do more research first before attempting this formatter board fix.
sir my problem is same and i baked it for 5minute at 200° celcius in electric baker......but still problem is same.....please guide me what should i do now
Couple of questions. Were your symptoms and problems with the printer exactly or as close to the same as what I described in the description? Second, 200* C sounds like a bit low of a temp. 205* might have been more accurate. Try baking it again with board resting above baking sheet on pegs. Make sure no metal areas are touching the baking surface at all. Bake for 5 mins 30 seconds at 205*C. Let cool and hook it back up again. If still doesnt work, board is broken
can u tell me about this problem please....laserjet hp p2015dn model...my duplex printing does not work.......when my printer printed one side and then page goes back for duplex printing then page stucked off in the printer.......please guide me what is the problem.......??
@@SajjadAli-kx2mx hmm, that sounds like a problem I'm not familiar with. By your description, the feeder mechanism isnt working properly. Couple of things that might have caused this. 1) didn't bake it long enough causing the solder to liquefy. Explanation: The reason this error occurs is bad solder which cracks, causing a severed connection. This bake reheats and reconnects the cracks. You can try again for a slightly longer time frame, maybe 5:30 or 6:00 depending on your oven. 2) There is another problem on your formater board that is giving the same error codes. If trying the reheating in the oven trick for longer doesn't work, then its a bad formater. You can purchase another used on long for $35 approximately on ebay or at an online parts store.
Motherboard? This isn't a computer. If you want to buy a new "formater" board then by all means. however, this this a low cost easy fix that does in fact work most times for this type of error.

Je confirme, cette méthode fonctionne très bien !

HP LaserJet P2015
But in a couple of months the malfunction is repeated
Thank You!
