Aww so nice to see :D
Mine doesn't climb or sit on my hand at all D:
He's getting there though, but I've noticed that he seems to be more affraid of me again, I don't know why, maybe because he's molting?? Can that be the cause??
Also, I got him at 6 months, so now he is 9 months old :D
He is also is brought up by his parents, (no hand feeding) I think, when he lived with the seller, he was a free bird, I don't know, I forgot to asked :/
Maybe he will trust me more and more overtime?? (I think he has a trauma of hands, and caught alot maybe) so hopefully it will grow out, and notices that he can trust me, and be happy to be around me ^_^
Oh!! And I also let him outside of the cage, (since he came to eat out of my hand) but he just goes to the highest spot where he can sit, and stays there :(
we tried to make it more fun for him, and just let him explore things, like many of the Kakariki are curious bird right?? on every video on youtube you see them search, get in to things, walk etc.. but mine is just calm, doesn't walk that much at all, but he does fly once in a while when he is out of the cage, he flies right above our heads! nearly touching us haha! He actually only become active, when he is hearing a bird (hen he will fly and search them) but, if he can't find them he just sit's on top of the closet, or mirror, and doesn't move :/
I really want to make him curious, but doesn't help much ^^" I don't know what to do anymore ^^" I really hope he understands I don't want to hurt him :D
Because the strange thing is, in his cage, he sings, is more active as outside of the cage, stares alot at me, wants attention, but once outside, he's soo calm haha!
    I'm confused!
I really want to give him a friend, but my parents won't let me all of a sudden -_- So, I will have to wait a few years! :D
Sorry for the long rant, but I don't find much owners of Kakariki, which would like to share their experience ^^"

Well, you just have to be patient:) My birds were also afraid to come closer, at first they just took something from my hand in the cage, then they tried to take something outside the cage.. then I tried to give them my finger so that they would have to step on it to get some treat:)
They love to play outside the cage in boxes or with paper, just tear it into pieces :)) So maybe you can to give him any kind of box. They also like to get inside basket with things:)

Oh!! I see! maybe he's seeing the "outside of the cage" as my territory or something??
I tried to lure him out just know haha, with his favourite treat, when it's too far, (when he needs to get out his comfortzone) he doesn't want to come, he tries, but also going back like "no, I'm not interested" but, since the cage's door, is too wide XD he flew out lol!!
Now he's just sitting on the mirror (the highest spot) I just laid a toiletroll, and some sunflowerseeds with it.. but still not showing interest haha!
Were yours raised by the parents?
Thanks for your comment though! I really appreciate it :3
I will gladly try the box thing! :D (I was Always scared if he ate the papers, I don't know if it causes any harm? ^^")

Mana667 actually I don't know if they were raised by the parents :/ and mine don't eat the papers, they just like to tear it and make a mess on the floor :D
maybe you can try to feed him inside the cage? or I used to just put my hand inside and just leave it there for like an hour every day so that they would get used to it :)

I can do that again yes, because (before he was moulting) he came in no time to my hand, but know he's extremely moulting, and doesn't want to come that close at all XD
And he also used to put 1 foot on my hand, and the other was still holding his perch XD
But I can try it out again (y) Maybe it's also because of the moulting that he wants to be alone or something, but when he's inside he's screaming for attention haha!
Oh well! :D I'll keep my fingers crossed haha!

You just have to be patient :) And I think that it is because of moulting.. mine are now also not so active and they relax more than normally:) But you can still just try and put your hand inside so that he sees that you are his friend and not enemy:)
