Unfortunately I'm not into Nikon systems at the moment. However, with the current modern sensors, anything that can shoot full 1080 HD on micro, cropped or full frame sensor Shou be good enough

You can use use a zoom H4N paired with a RODE NTG 2 or 3
A more budget friendly option will be a zoom H1N paired with a Panasonic mic

@@pandaeye1348you must realize that playbacks are affected by computer speed. It stattles or even drop frames when playing back and by the middle it may seem out of synk. If you use premier on a not soo powerful machine, you will understand. Hence it's not out of synk

That is usually the best way to go. It's one of the oldest approach even in Hollywood that is still being used today. You can even use your phone to record the sound and it will still be effective that recording with the internal mic of the camera.

Was the film shot with Panasonic G7? Is it good the camera good enough to shoot projects for clients? And finally did you use only one camera?
It was shot entirely on the Panasonic G7. I used that one camera and repeated the action several times and shot from different angles. So you know, I have used the G7 for full client works in producing documentaries for cooperate organizations. Guess what, they are always impressed by the footage we give them
